    Which SSD for Arma2/OA?

I've just got a SSD crucial C300 128gb, the first ever sataIII SSD. I've got it for 282€ and it was at 400€ only few weeks ago! Win7,page file and arma are on it now and it really feel like its another game now, especialy in a jet, its so smooth that I can't flyning a jet just for fun! The C300 is 355MB/s read and 215 MB/s write speed (in sata III),it's the fastest ssd as we speak and it has also a very good random write and read. see yourself: http://www.kitguru.net/components/ssd-drives/zardon/crucial-realssd-c300-256gb-review/
  3. AI fire all its ammo on empty vehicle on day light. This happens for chopper and jeep with M2. How to prevent this? Is it a bug? It just kills my home made mission as the AI has no more ammo when they encounter enemy soldiers.
  4. I should have say it on the first post, those empty vehicle were manned before. Its either chopper that 'got shutdown, the crew bailed and the chopper is landing smoking empty on the ground, AI will stay focus on the empty gunned down chopper and not the other flying ones! Or its the same with HUMVEE, once the crew has eject or been killed they still try to blow up the car even if its no more a risk. :( This is not the same with TANKS...empty tanks dont get blow up by enemy...

    random crashes d3d9.dll????

OK... I reply to myself... I have fixed the problem and I can play now for hours in SP with the editor in a huge battle:yay: Before to find the solution I've done this: *reinstall vista 64bit on new HD * udapte lastest driver for MB,sound card, Video card, DX9&11 * Run my system as default (no OC) * Reinstall ARMA2 on new disk & OS All this did nothelp still CTD with dx9 erro! The last thing I've done is to enable AA (low) and 3D resolution to 25% And guess what!!!I could play hours with no crash! IF I dont set any 3D resolution (0%) it crashed again. So it seems that AA and 3D resolution do its little miracle for me. To resume here is my WORKING settings: 3D resolution: 25% AA:low AF: low or normal Memory: very high Texture Detail :very high Object details: normal terrain details: normal Postprocess Effects:low

    random crashes d3d9.dll????

I had the same issue, I had to downclock my cpu of 200MHZ and since it is working fine. (now Q9550 @3.2GHZ) Before downcloking I've tried all other solutions, vcore, memv, fsbV ect... All my test for stability were fine OCCT and other games. Its funny you are all OC...

    Ati Radeon HD5870 Benchmarks ?

This is too bad, there is no more good reason to buy a GTX285.. "For this fall, we're able to say something we haven't been able to say for quite some time: AMD has the high-end market locked up tight." See the detail here:http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3650&p=14

Windows 7 is the cure to all issues

I am not a vista fan boy but I just don't like the bullshit. Vista is good for the interface I can't go back to XP for sure. If you compare XP to Vista in 3D game XP is no more the OS for Game if you have a good rig (especially the 64bit version). so if you buy a new decent machine with a new OS there is no point reverting to XP if you have Vista installed on it. You only better to stayed on XP until 7 is out if you have a small rig or laptop (mono core and less of 2GB and slow HDD). Vista had a very bad reputation when is started witch is not true now. Now all new Rig even laptop can run it fine with SP2. what really MS missed with Vista is DX10: DX10 has not been followed bye the Game industry. The next console generation will be based on DX11. New game will be released soon with that new API and Vista as 7 will shine for games! ARMA3 will be with DX11 or will not be on my HDD.... don't be fool thinking that you are the smartest here just because you have XP on your disk.

Windows 7 is the cure to all issues

for me Win7 is the same as Vista as long as you have at least 4gig and and dual/quad cpu. The test from tweakdown confirm this: http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/2869/windows_7_final_oem_vs_windows_vista_vga_performance/index.html Al ot of people have XP/vista installed since years with a lot of crap on it and just by installing a new OS and just ARMA you will see a performance boost with whatever new OS on it. Windows 7 is Vista SP3 renamed for marketing purpose.
  18. Hello, I want to share my fix with you so I hope it will help some of you. Firstly I did not have any issue before I've installed the new ATI drivers 9.7. Than after installing the 9.7 I had the famous CTD Arma2.Exe error! This happened when I was testing my mission in the editor with about 100 AIs. The mission is basically Russian forces doing an air raid on a US camp this involving a lot of heli and armour. So when I had those CTD I first did the basic trouble shooting: -uninstalling of 9.7 then did a driver cleaner -installing previous drivers 9.6 - did a registry cleaner This did not solve it! I was starting to be really pissed of about this and thinking "bis fix this now!" and looking desperately for the 1.3 patch! Than I've tried something else, few weeks ago before this problem I've reduced the Vcore of my CPU to 1.2V (Intel Q9550) which is overcloked at 3.4.GHZ. I did this to save some power and to reduce the temperature. When id did this I have tested with OCCT and played ARMA fine. As I was adding more and more AI in my mission I tried to add some volt to the CPU "just in case off" I’ve added 0.2v from the bios which provided a 1.21v minimum during load. Then I have tested and I have now no more crash! This brings me to some conclusion: If you have OC your CPU bear in mind that if you play a mission with a lot of AI your CPU will be well stressed. So much that even some tool that test the stability of you system might run fine BUT arma with lots of AI will failed! my spec: CPU: inter Q9550 @3.4GHZ 4 giga of RAM Video: 4890 1GB VISTA 64 bit SP2

    How I've fixed my CTD!

This is the hardcore test! but as long I can play arma I am fine now! ---------- Post added at 02:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:31 PM ---------- Appolo, how much volt did you put when your reached 3.4ghz?
  21. StefX

    How I've fixed my CTD!

Of course I did raise the default voltage :j:. What I've tried to do is after I have raised a good OC at 3.4ghz stable( 1.28v) I've tried to use the lowest (1.22v) voltage to save some power and make sure that my grandchild will see some white bears... Everything was OK only ARMA2 single mission with lots of AI showed problem until I've put more volts

    How I've fixed my CTD!

I am agree my system was not stable anought, but I did test it with OCCT and it was running fine... Everthing was fine even ARMA2 in multi player... only ARMA2 single mission with lots of AI made it unstable. Al least I discovered the ultimate OC tools!
