  1. Nowadays I rarely fail the mission because it's darn easy to steal the Hind and get the #### out of the enemy base. It'll take 2 minutes to reach the NATO base and you don't even have to fight the pursuing Hind if you are fast enough.

You must have done this on the SpetNatz's day off. Every time I attempted this, most of my squad got mowed down while climbing uphill by the Spetnatz in a far superior position above us.<span id='postcolor'>

I never said anything about my squad surviving wink.gif Use them as a decoy, don't keep them following you around rather than giving them waypoints of their own. The whole squad is a lot more visible target for the spetnatz patrols than a lone LAW-equipped Rambo the other side of the mountain. Real life ethics don't apply here, just save the world instead of your squad.

  3. The Search & Destroy is by far the most difficult mission in the whole game. I guess there are lots of ways to finish the mission but I've always done it the hard way and climbed all the way up to the Hill.

Fist take the truck and everyone with you. The squad is useful for keeping a lookout in case of the ambushing SpetNatzes. Drive the road to the north side of the hill and start the long and sweatty ascend up the mountain.

When at the top start descending the western slope and look for the SCUD. It's indeed behind some trees but there is a way to have a clear shot at it from the mountain slope if you go enough left while you are descending.

When you finally see the SCUD, call in the tanks (the western route) and a few minutes later the choppers. You need all the diversion you can get.

Now climb up the mountain so that the SCUD is just barely visible so that your LAW shots can reach the target. Make your savegame here.

The SCUD should now be about 400-500 meters away. While in the basic training in the Finnish military I was having a hard time hitting armored targets as far as 200 meters away but in real life you don't have the chance to save the game.

Take your shot. Aim high so the projectile has made a fair arc when you the target. Don't wait for the LAW to travel all the way to the SCUD but rather start gathering your stuff immediately after the shot and make a run for it uphill. If the LAW misses, load the game and try again. If you do hit, you have about 10-15 seconds until the HEATs start restructuring the landscape around you. If you can get some earth between the tanks and you in 15 seconds, you're safe. Now you shouldn't have to run very far until the game decides that you've completed the mission.
