The first one's great Too bad OFP's Offtopic-forum is not like other offtopic-forums around. I'd say it's about 10 more minutes until this thread is locked. I wish you could've come up with military-related jokes.

How to get rid of radio targetting during mp games

I mean what name will the playable character get. Is it simply "player" or "ap" or anything else ? I need to know cause as the script runs client side only it always has to work on the actual player controlled unit.<span id='postcolor'> It's always "Player". If you have named one of the playable character as "aP" using the name with commands will affect only the character, regardless which character the client player is playing on his own computer. Using "Player" with the commands will affect each client's playable character only. Remember, every script is ran on every computer, and every computer knows which character the human player is in and knows to point every "Player"-command to the right character. -
In addition, you would never get close enough the enemy to use the knife before he puts a bullet in your head, except in a close quarter combat which is so rare in OFP that it would be useless to implement knives.

Problems in resistance ......
Spitfire replied to Col Saint's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
There certainly seems to be a problem with some objects which causes some lateral (X-Y) movement even though only the height of the object is supposed to be adjusted with the SetPos -command. I have made an elevator -type thingamajing as a test which uses a looping "this setpos[getpos this select 0,getpos this select 1,(getpos this select 2) + 0.1]" -command. The elevator goes up OK, but it also moves every time a little bit to to the north. I remember using commands like this in 1.46 too but I didn't notice these symptoms back then. It doesn't affect all objects, though. As a workaround I use a game logic object (I would use markers but you can't change their height) which I move around and then move the desired object to the game logic. -
How to get rid of radio targetting during mp games

Goeth, What I was trying to tell is that you still have an option not to use respawning or the crosshair but you have no option to disable the targeting. It's all about options, what you can do and what you can't. Having options will keep everyone happy. -
Thanks, Suma. I think that pretty much wraps up this thread before we even had a chance to speculate about it .

It would be nice to know some facts about the allowfleeing -command. At what magnitude does it affect the combat morale of the squad? Values ranging from 0 to 1, what are the results in battle? What are the conditions that trigger the "we are screwed, let's run" -feeling? The amount of squad members dead? The amount of known enemies visible? Those two combined? Does it have any randomness whatsoever? Has anyone done any thorough experimenting with this thing? Ahh... so many questions. Hopefully they'll spawn some answers too

After that you could consider removing the targetting system. I really think respawn is very unrealistic.<span id='postcolor'> Remember this is only a game If we were to play ultra-realistic, the first time you die you should take the CD, smash it into pieces and never play OFP again. You're dead, remember? Or better yet, put a real bullet in your head Seriously though, I agree that it should be possible to disable the targeting system whenever the mission designer decides to do so. -

'unitname action ["EJECT", heloname]' ought do the trick. Remember to put 'unassignvehicle unitname' as well.

Maraudeur, Reading your long post I must assume that you're either a coroner, weapons designer or a dedicated henceman, right? You show some knowledge you can't pick up here and there, you have to study for it.
