Hi Vesuvio, thx for your reply although: This guy seems not to have all the facts at hand, as many of the comments to the story prove him wrong (see 32bit translation or native) Furthermore we're talking about a "turnkey" system from IBM which I hope is tested thoroughly before it's released to the market: http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/eserver/opteron/325/index.html All I'd like to know is whether it runs without crashing and if it would be a significant performance upgrade compared to the Xeon 2.2 we're using now.

Thanks for the props...unfortunately we can't live up to the expectations at the moment as we're in the process of reorganizing all addons and implementing OFPWatch by Certa. We should be back on full steam by next week YT Shrike

New mirror: BAS Tonal-tango pack mirror Happy leeching.

To Ofrp team: Any news on the updates you announced a long time ago? I still think you did an excellent job with your addons and the release of BAS' African island could spawn a lot of interesting missions with French units as they're quite involved all over Africa. Sorry mods for digging out this old thread ;-) Thx Shrike EDIT: Alright I strolled over to the Ofrp site and that's what I found: Sounds good!

Just got my new Geforce FX 5900 Ultra. Do I have to expect the same problem happening to me? Or is it confined to 5600 model? Anyone?
-
Ok I might as well... ZEUS Addon Server contact info below. We feature a set of addons which can be downloaded from our site. It includes several standard addons like BAS, Seb Nam Pack2, Operation Frenchpoint, Sigma Tanks, Winter stuff and Kegetys' Russian Weapons pack + several more, too many to list here actually. You'll find a TS2 server at the same adress, join for better communication and Teamplay Server is a Dual Xeon 2.2 with 2.5 Gigs of RAM and a 100 Mbit connection on a 5 Gbit switch.

Yes Poet, please make some nice new coop missions as you did for the Deltas/Rangers :-) We had loads of fun with your 4-mission set!

I've been using the MX700 for several months now and I have no problems whatsoever. It's precise, smooth as silk and generally does the job in OFP perfectly. The only downside is I can't use all 7 buttons in OFP. MX700 vs. MX500: Same mouse & functionality except it's cordless.

No time to develop and share ideas now, maybe later but PLEASE do a coop version as well. IMHO there's nothing the MP community needs more to keep it from dying a slow death than MP missions featuring new addons. Using popular and widespread addons would ensure many gamers playing it. See Avon's signature for reference! Maybe just a hint: Our players love combined arms raids with the need of precise action (eg taking out armored or otherwise dangerous defense positions with choppers or armour before Specops go in to capture a guy or retrieve some documents/free prisoners/steal secret weapons etc.) Will think about something when I have some time at hand! Go for it, your work will be greatly appreciated! Â

Good to hear! If you need a server for testing let me know.

That would be a dream come true...if you are planning a Linux version too that is! Good Luck with your work!

This Trial game is gonna cost me my job! And my nerves as well, how ffs can I climb that first wall in Pro Level 3? I did it once by accident....ahhh *stuffs keyboard in bin*

Yes, we are ranging between 100 and 250 GB /month, running 2 OFP and 1 TS servers on this connection. I think you would be on the safe side with 150 GB/month although even 100 could be enough, OFP MP is not exactly overpopulated right now...

Latest intel results: Â Â No offense intended Aloha Shrike, honey pissing liberal

This sounds very nice! I will upload it to our server now. Any plans on remixing it with some nice user made addons? I could put it on our addon server then without people slagging me off because it doesn't feature any neat addons...damn ungrateful players
-
same here Well it just shows that server performance is still an important issue. I mean, many of us run servers that could easily handle 100s or 1000s of simultaneous database queries but struggle with more than 30 players in OFP. Apart from a few "urban legend" magic servers which mysteriously run with 64 players and no lag...

@Frenchpoint Team: Can we expect any updates/additional stuff to be released soon? I'm asking because I am reorganizing our set of addons and need to know if it's worth waiting a bit longer. Furthermore I'm interested in any new MP missions (Coop or adversial) using the Frenchpoint mod. Maybe someone knows where to find some.... Gotta add Avons Line to my sig....OFP needs more maps using all the neat user made stuff...

Ouch, a beer thread after a weekend of drinking beer in the sun...that reminds me of my hangover yesterday... Anyway, I live in Munich, too and it's hard to keep being sober over here...fantastic beers all over the place and an appropriate drinking culture surrounding you. If you are in for a serious headcrash visit the Andechs monastery west of Munich and have a Doppelbock Dunkel, this should leave even the most serious drinkers tits up...at least you pass out in style and with a heavenly taste on your swollen tongue! Kloster Andechs As this beer is not suited for everyday use I suggest to try the pinnacle of mass-produced Pils beer, a good old Becks, which tastes better in the small bottles (0.33 l) or, even better from the tap although it seems to be quite rare. My favourite beer when I was young: Rothaus Tannenzäpfle but that was a long time ago and I remember getting serious headaches from it, maybe due to quantity. Anyway, it's yummy!

And it reminds me of the intro movie to Fallout 1, awesome game btw!

Good pix Lupus! Is this map Zeus compatible?
-
My highest respect! How about adding a minor change to the server code to support multiprocessor dedis? Â J/K Blake the quote in your sig is too damn funny. Where was the related thread again? LOL
-
Yes, we are using a 2 CPU system and run 2 or 3 OFP servers simultaneously (2 x 2.2 GHz XeonDP) At the start of the project we assigned each OFP session to one of the CPUs but we later decided to discard it because performance was higher by letting the OS do the job of task distribution alone (Linux, Suse Enterprise server 8.1). Later we enabled hyperthreading as well, which gave us another performance boost of roughly 10 percent. Now the servers are running on 4 virtual CPUs which looks like this: Performance is ok although I think it still could be optimized. But me being a Linux n00b doesn't help so if anyone here is a server performance tweaking expert I am gladly awaiting your tips

I used to love CTI but too much is too much and I deleted it from my server. This mainstream stuff is really getting on my nerves. Open the ingame browser and check the 15 fullest servers. It's either Battlefield 1985 and its derivates (I can't imagine a more worn out map), CTI or CTF Mokra and other crappy CS clones. I guess the world is made like this, mainstream above all. But I want a community which is open-minded, eager to experiment new stuff, interested in evolution. I'd rather have less players on my servers than being the equivalent of a Top 40 radio station. I always hated charts music anway... Sorry to the dozens of players hijacking my server 24/7 for CTI, it's time for you to move on to new shores.

Finnish defence forces mod 1.0 released!
shrike replied to feersum.endjinn's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Yes I think so too I did. 6th time was corrupted again, 7th time (from the Gamespy server) is finally working! And just for the record: I don't use download managers. I was also using the latest versions of WinRar and WinZip. Anyway it is finally working now. But I am damn happy to have a fast connection... If you guys don't mind I will upload it to our website and you can add another mirror to your list. Thanks for the outstanding work! -
Finnish defence forces mod 1.0 released!
shrike replied to feersum.endjinn's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
*cough* I know a lot of people downloaded it successfully but for some odd reason I seem not to be able to find a working file... I just downloaded it the 5th time, always from different mirrors and I keep getting this while extracting: I extracted using Winzip & Winrar, both don't do the trick. I downloaded and extracted several other large files just to check if it was on my side but assorted *.rars and *.zips ranging from 100 MB to 900 MB were doing fine. Any clue on why it keeps fucking up on me? Â And I couldn't wait to upload it to our dedi... Â
