    PROPER M2 .50 anyone....?

    The M2 0.50cal in OFP is mounted on an AA Lafette as it looks, similar to the one we use for the MG3. I don´t know if a similar thing exists for the M2, as both hands are required on the weapon to aim and fire the Browning. The MG3 AA tripod configuration is supposed to be fired with one hand on the trigger group, buttstock in the shoulder and the other hand tight grip around the upper tripod section to counter recoil and keep it steady. The M2 as displayed in OFP in it´s current config looks to me as it won´t probably hit shit, because the tripod is prone to "dance" back and forth and eventually collapse, especially with this heavy calibre and resulting recoil. Please fix.

    Naturally Palaestinians would be the opponent, but i guess noone would like to see that, unless you like fights a la David against Goliath. What timeline is your mod scheduled, is it hypothetical, authentic...etc?

    The Hammerroid special unit got my vote! and a flamethrower: Nah, seriously i´d like to see cross motorcycles for both sides, as well as a C-130 Herc for the US and AN-12 "CUB" for the Sowjets.

    I know there are no final as of yet what tool to release next and when, and i´m sure BIS programmers/artists are working already on the next bugfix, just want to make sure the WSS format converter is not forgotten in the long run. Better sounds could add so much more to the game.

    BTW a bolt action rifle would be nice, semi automatic for sniper rifles plain sucks. I´d prefer the old K98 Wehrmachts Karabiner over every Dragunov, M21 or any other semi auto operated rifle.     I prefer the SVD because of it´s horizontal deflection shooting markings, good for first kill capability while shooting on moving targets...what happens most of the time actually. I also find it faster to aim, no elevation knobs to turn (zoom in/out), so i can counter a target faster and imho more precise.

    I´m on it, just have been distracted by Christmas, New Year and lately FS2002 & IL-2....so much things on my mind...., but the new soundmod is definitely coming along with the Apache i promised actually before christmas, no need to worry.

But there comes this pesky MI-24 driver and just fires away on my position, all efforts hiding myself worth nothing.  [*]Bouncing off tracers Probably the only thing i liked about Gunship! were the bouncing off tracers when they hit something hardened. At night this looks especially amazing. [*]More commands at my disposal Bounding Overwatch the most important, prerequisite it is executed properly by AI. [*]BETTER SOUNDS What bugs me personally maybe the most, are the sounds that are as dry as a 200y old biscuit. There are more things, but i have no time right now.

    Most things, such as stones, bunkers and obstacles in woods are already possible without BIS being needed to implement something "new". What i´m missing is the possibility to "terraform" the islands, that is to add real craters, foxholes and tunnels. It would bring in quite some variety and possibilities, as we are now playing nearly on a "silver tablet". Except woods and general vegetation, among manmade objects like houses, there is no real cover such as "wavy/bumpy" terrain as we call it.
  17. Just read it on www.flashpoint1985.de news; a MultiPlayer Cheat is available and working. Unlimited ammunition is possible with this Cheat! And this not only for infantry but also vehicles. Hope BIS reacts to this quickly, guess they are already aware of this.

    I´ll have to split up into categories: Graphics: 8/10 would be more if support for higher texture resolutions above 256x256px would be added Sound: 6.5/10 I can´t get along with the dull and dry sound of all weapons, also several of the weapon systems are sharing the same sound, such as ZSU-23-4 with all Helicopter cannons, M163 PIVADS (Vulcan). Gameplay: 9.95346/10 no comment necessary. Multiplayer: 7/10 OFP has been continiously improved in this regard since 1.10, it has gone through small overhauls in multiplayer, making it better playable there. Although there is still room for improvement, such as to simplify and add certain things, BIS knows which. Longvity: 11/10 Sorry, simply had to give it 110% there, only simulations were able to gain my interest and attention for such a period of time. Max Payne lasted not a week on my HDD, Counterstrike i erazed after 1 hour of lan play, RTCW i played through in 2 weeks and it´s already covering dust, Ghost Recon i´m still interested in, but not as much as in OFP. Overall Score: a healthy <span style='font-size:17pt;line-height:100%'>8.5</span> out of <span style='font-size:15pt;line-height:100%'>10</span>. BTW: Never give someone or something the highest possible amount of points, cause then there´s no room for improvement anymore

    Hmm, for some people post count seems to be a real fetish, sun goes up and down with postcounts....sad life. Just can tell you don´t do anything you regret a few hours later. I too wanted to sign off of the board as Medvidek closed my Soundmod thread down without further explanation. I slept a night over it and everything was okey dokey again, cause in the end it´s all minor (virtual) belongless things, not worth to worry about. Personally i couldn´t care less if i have 2 or 2000 posts, it means nothings, what is important that you have fun on the boards, and to exchange yourself about the game, or having a ball here in the napalm pit. if your fun here is equivalent to the postcount, than my friend you can´t be helped.

    MARK IV AND THE RIB\'S !!!!!

    Just my 2 cents, People are always trying to compensate for their lackings, by exaggerating, brawling etc., it´s just a defensive shield they build up, only showing their vulnerability. And no, i don´t agree that the german forces in general are on par with GB, i´m with the "club" since 1996 and we lack many things, most of all experience, because we couldn´t drop and participate in any conflict that presented itself, because of national lawgiving and our role in history, as well as resource issues. I can tell you stories about how i waited over a year for a single spare part for my M-577, that was put out of action for this period of time. Or how we are not able to keep up with the newest communications equipment employed in the field by GB and US troops- we are only able to conduct limited cooperations with our Allies therefore. More than 20 Billion Deutschmarks (ca. 10 billion EURO) are needed to "restorate" the Bundeswehr, so we would be capable to an satisfying grade again (for a short period of time), enabling us to conduct peace keeping operations without any restrictions like that we have now because of old or missing material, and no money to replace it. The new G-36 may look nice and advanced, but it´s deployment into the Bundeswehr was a lenghty and still ongoing process, while some units already had the G36 for more than a year other units had still the G3. Same goes for the "Flecktarn" camouflage field dress, the new Leopard 2 and a shitload of other material and platforms. For our Special Forces, the DSO (Division Spezielle Operationen) and subsequently the KSK (Kommando Spezialkräfte) is receiving training from SAS, SEALS, GSG9 and others. KSK recruits undergo a modified SAS training course. They of course have a wider array of equipment at their disposal than the "rest" of us, but again, if there are hardly operational planes and helicopters to deploy them full scale among other logistical shortcomings, even they are affected by the general situation we find ourselfs in. Why i´m writing this? Because this childish "my matchbox car looks better than yours" starts getting really on my nerves, as on most other older forum visitors too.

The existence of the cheat is confiremd by a moderator and newsposter of www.flashpoint1985.de, that appears to know the site hosting the cheat, as well as having tested the cheat himself for functionality.

The only things that disturbs me is why the LTD can´t be operated on it´s tripod. Although shoulder launched is optional and not unrealistic- it´s not as precise as if fired steady from the tripod. Ground based LTD´s operate within a tactical range, that is around 3KM, lasering this distance precisely freehand is impossible, that´s why LTD´s come with a tripod, that might look to civillians like "instrument used to find the contours of land for geological surveys and mapper's"
  24. Despite the fact that backpacks would look better visually in the game- making the soldiers easier to spot, i see no real use. All gear needed for combat is usually placed on the load bearing harness for rapid access; magazine pouches, grenades, ABC protection mask, flashlight, charges, first aid kit, water canteen, utilities, etc. Instead of adding backpacks for all soldiers, the loadbearing harness could need some redo, making it a bit bulkier and adding some things.

In real life it´s as follows; when you shoot an assault rifle while prone, the bore axis of the weapon is ca. 30° in relation to your body, means you don´t form a straight "line" as in OFP with the weapon. In OFP you turn or rotate your whole body and the weapon is at all times centered horizontaly 0°, aligned to your body orientation and axis. This is where it comes to the problem, to shoot around a corner while prone, you have to expose your whole body, because you can´t turn your upper torso or weapon independant from the rest of your body. Means you can´t shoot at 270° West when your body is orientated to 320° NW. Being able to turn the head is completely irrelevant here, because you can´t fire in the direction you are watching....and this after all is what i want. The way it is now, it reminds me more of an breakdancer with a non flexible Steel backbone, spinning his whole body when lying prone, it looks really stupid also. This is one of the most important issues for me, among multiplayer. (Edited by Satchel at 3:20 am on Dec. 30, 2001)
