    A-10 gatling gun: underpowered

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Prof.Wizard @ June 24 2002,20:36)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"></span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Satchel @ June 24 2002,17:57)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">You´ll have to know that the GAU-8/A isn´t a simple 30mm cannon, it´s the second largest gun ever build into an A/C, right next after a 105mm Howitzer on AC-130 Gunships.<span id='postcolor'> Not exactly the second largest EVER built. Some World War 2 aircrafts (German and Russian) had even bigger cannons installed. You can find them in simulations like IL-2 Sturmovik.<span id='postcolor'> I was not writing about calibre, but overall dimensions, firepower and weight. Total weight GAU-8/A weapon system with 1350 rounds cannon combat mix loaded: 1.830 kg (4034 lb) Overall Length of the system: 6,40 m  (21ft) Cannon Diameter: 0,35 m (1,15ft) Magazine Diameter: 0,87 m (2,85ft) Magazine Length: 1,81 m (5,94ft) Once the GAU-8/A is at max Rate of Fire, a recoil force of 40,82 kN develops, that force equals the thrust of a single TF-34-100/A turbo-fan engine powering the A-10, rated 9065 pounds thrust (40,32 kN). Effective range of the cannon is ca 1250m, with rounds taking roughly 1,2 seconds to travel this distance in a very flat trajectory, making deflection shooting on ground targets  easy for the pilot with good accuracy; 5mil-80%, meaning 80% of the rounds fired will hit in a 6,1m circle at 1200m distance. This results theoretically in a 1sec burst putting about 40 shells in an area the length of a tank, while only a fraction of those rounds would be needed to destroy or at least damage/incapacitate a vehicle.

What are the requirments for resistance?

Just as in the original game, i think OFP:R graphics will be scalable to suit your computer capabilities. Before upgrading to a Geforce 3 i too had Geforce 2 MX, but it seems a faster processor and more RAM have an greater impact on basic OFP performance, than a new GPU would. Not that OFP wasn´t faster after the upgrade, just not as fast as expected when compared to other games like Medal of Honor, where the G3 delivered an incredible performance boost. As OFP:R will utilize some new graphic routines according to interviews to suit newer cards, graphic cards supporting these features in Hardware will benefit from it, making the game faster and better looking overall i guess. Generally if you want a faster OFP experience get a faster Processor and more RAM, as it is yet to be seen what graphic features OFP:R will support exactly and if a G2MX would be sufficent to cover all new features in hardware, my guess is it will be sufficent, assuming you got decent CPU and at least 256MB ram.

Will resistance have new weapons sounds?

I think the AK-47 sound sample in the official OFP:R Trailer was a new one, but then again i didn´t hear the original Flashpoint sounds for a long time now. Regarding copyrights; all samples for the soundpack were recorded out of private, Army, Bundeswehr or cooperation promotion and demonstration video resources (H&K, Bofors, General Dynamics Land Systems, Boeing, Russian Defense Expo and others)  , no sounds were taken from motion pictures. About cheating woes while using custom sounds; if someone destroys his own game by making weapons or environmental sounds the exact opposite of what they should be (silence traded in for loudness for easier acquiring), his gameplay experience will suffer, not exactly worth the effort for some louder footsteps or MP5SD in my oppinion. If you wanted to cheat using sounds in OFP, you simply need to turn on EAX and Hardware acceleration, and you´ll almost hear the enemy squad from one end of the island to the other. Almost every game comming in mind allows changing of sound samples, and it would be great if Flashpoint would be no exception to this, unless the stock sounds are extraordinary good in realism and variety,  so there is no motivation to  change anything. If several config.bin´s (encryptet) could be managed and handled similar to addons, it would be possible running the setup you just need for online or offline gaming, without having to do manual file operations and swapping constantly between config.bin´s if you use other mods that need the orig config.bin to be changed.

    Im emigrating........

I only hate blocksuckers and other parasites, like these: Tick Ixodes ricinus Everytime after being out in the green or field we searched under the shower on each others body for these critters. Not uncommon you have several of them, worst place i had some was on my testicles and armpits. They can be several days on your body sucking blood or crawling around, because you will hardly notice, they´ll only grow thick if they are filled with blood, that expands them to a multitude of their normal size. Disgusting critters. Gnats Pesky bastards, especially when you´ll try to sleep and it´s quiet around you then suddenly the initial attack occurs sssszzszszszs....szszszszszs...sszszszs. In some countries they are also carrying deadly bacteria, like the mosquito. A spider will make a bloody mess out of these suckers, and they don´t deserve better.

Then you certainly like this one: http://images.google.de/imgres?....rl=http Makes a great Wallpaper, don´t know what type of tarantula it is though. Sometime back i´ve seen a report on australian spiders, and they were showing agressive species, one even jumped at the cameraman trying to bite him. This one is nothing but cute:

Was there ever an alternative to ww2?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Aaron Kane @ June 13 2002,20:19)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I would just like to say that the FW190A8 flies different from the FW190A4 and FW190A5.  I assume this is due to the extra guns and armor.  However, the guns and extra mass make the FW190A8 one of the best "Boom & Zoom" aircraft in the game.  I have trouble booming and zooming though, so I'll practice. Thank you for your time.<span id='postcolor'> I found all FW-190´s climbing and rolling like dogs, even after 1.1. Too much energy drain in almost all maneuvers, slow acceleration while getting outclimbed/outdived regulary by almost any russian Fighter A/C. Maybe i need more practise, but also likely the FM is wrong.

    Hand grenades

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Kermit @ June 12 2002,07:37)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"> As a matter of fact, they don't bounce at all.  At most, they kind of roll.  Those things are pretty damn heavy.<span id='postcolor'> Ever thrown a handgrenade? You can throw a handgrenade against the ceiling when throwing it through a window that is located a few metres above your head, so it bounces off to prevent the grenade landing to far in the room or rolling even out of it. About a grenades weight, ours weight about 435gr, a good thrower gets more than 40m with it, you can probably imagine what force is behind it. Ours is additionally mantled with plastic in case you are wondering. The training handgrenades we practise with bounce all over the place just as you described if the handgrenade is thrown farther than the limits of our grenade exercise place, where it will land on asphalt. It´s always a hard time searching for grenades that had been thrown this far and bounced of the street into some bushes on the side.

U.s. makes plans for invading the netherlands

Noone wants the U.S. to follow EU guidelines, but guidelines that had been long set in the geneva convention, international treatys and other agreements of similar kind, the U.S. is withdrawing constantly from. The present learns us that these agreements are not worth the paper they are manifested on. It´s naive to think that the WTC attack happened just because some camel jocks have fun blowing things up, because of their general hatred against everything that comes out of the western world.... such things are politically motivated and do happen on purpose; don´t forget that Bin Laden as Saddam Hussein (2 main actors in the absurd "war on terror" sope opera) had close relations to the U.S. some time ago, and were supported by them- where was the religious refusal and killing of everything western then? Where did it come from? It´s much the same way the U.S. is letting speak their bombs rather than their diplomacy if their interests are interferred. To threaten and intimidate a NATO country with use of force, and calling the ICC a "Rogue Institution"  pretty much highlights the course the U.S. is taken lately. Because of U.S. actions the NATO treaty is constantly put to a hard test, and it´s understandable the majority of members are not very pleased by that. I´m just glad we don´t have as many U.S. weapon systems as some years ago, the Netherlands on the other hand aren´t that fortunate and are totally dependant to the U.S., if  tensions because of ICC should be rising, they should be feared of sanction consequences, what puts nearly their whole Helicopter fleet, Airforce and small arms to a new perspective if no spare parts or replacements are shipped. To put it short, either you´re with the U.S. or you´re a terrorist that is to be deprived of rights and support.

It had been only a question of time till something like WTC would happen, noone that follows international politics in any way was really surprised about the terrorist attack, although the extend of damage was indeed beyond belief. Germany too had it´s share of terrorism activities plagueing it, if RAF (Rote Armee Fraktion) is familiar to you. Don´t get me wrong, i have nothing against american citizens, but the U.S. government and it´s politics; national, as international.

U.s. makes plans for invading the netherlands

The "Netherland Invasion" headline is just some byproduct of the U.S. steadily breaking away from international law and basic principles of a constitutional state totally disrespecting human rights, to do whatever action, wherever against whomever, no matter if it´s justified or covered by law, or not. Just as they are still playing the "war on terror" wildcard, what basically enables them to go on a lunatic rampage against whoever interferes with U.S. interests, with whatever force they have in mind.

    Satchels ah-64

This is just a new skin for the already existing AH-64, not a new model, as i have never done modelling (apart from changing DEM´s for WRPEdit). Sometime back i asked if someone would be able to redo the complete AH-64 model on a realistic basis, because the one we got with OFP is flawed at quite some parts.

    Satchels ah-64

You asked for it, so i showed why there is a delay, i´m not teasing. If someone with modelling skills would be willing to make a pilot character with IHADSS helmet, it could be included with full credits in the AH-64A addon for greater visual realism, as this system is an unconnectable part of the AH-64 weapon platform. If anyone is interested in contributing his modelling skills to this, feel free to drop a line. Textures for the pilot suit and ihadss helmet are already done.
