  5. One of possible solutions:

I also was haunted by freezings in OPF. There was no good solution in the fora alltogether, but one thing seems to be clear: being owner of a AMD 155 mHz and Via bus on main board, I definitely had a problem. I've tried everything and finally, this weekend, I succeeded.

I figured out that Windows had set my Via bus master PCI IDE controller for primary and secondary IDE controllers to standard. I changed that in the settings for system into activation of both IDE controllers (I'm sorry I don't have the correct english names for the steps you must take, 'cause my Windows 98SE is Dutch). After this I reset the computer and from this time on, after trying every solution from the fora, OPF is running in high mode 32 bits like fluid on grease!

Thanks Robert van Dijk (Nijmegen, the Netherlands)

  6. Q: I cannot start Operation Flashpoint with errror message "Cannot create 3D".  I have Geforce and latest drivers. Im using 16 bit color depth.

    A: Following steps may help:

    (1) If you have nVidia TnT or GeForce / GeForce 2 card and you are running in 16-bit mode, you must check in D3D settings "Adjust Z-buffer depth to match render buffer depth".

"Adjust Z-buffer depth ..." option can be found this way:

    Right click on desktop >Properties >Settings >Advanced > Geforce bookmark >Additional Properties > Direct3d setting.

    (2) Use lower resolution. This may help especially if you have graphics card with 8 or 16 MB of RAM.

    (3) Edit line "refresh=<some_number>;" to "refresh=0;" or "refresh=60;" in your Flashpoint.cfg. If there is no such line, add it.

    (4) Test DirectX 8: Run DxDiag and perform Direct3D test. If anything is reported as not working, reinstall DirectX and/or graphics card drivers.

    (5) If nothing of above helped, contact technical support.

  7. Q: Operation Flashpoint is freezing for a while every 5-10sec. I have Geforce XX and the newest drivers.

A: You must uncheck in D3D settings "Enable alternate depth buffering technique".

    Where can I find it?

    Right click on desktop >Properties >Settings >Advanced > Geforce bookmark >Additional Properties > Direct3d setting.

  8. If you are not able to find answers for your problems, you may send ONE mail to support@bistudio.com with this:

    - brief description of your problem

    - CPU type, motherboard, graphics card configuration (you can send DxDiag.txt, which contains this and even mose)

    - Flashpoint.rpt and Context.bin files

    - what version of OF are you using

    (which addons)

    - in which mission are you experiencing problems

    - are you using HW T&L or not?

    - what operation system have you got? (Win9x, WinME, Win2000)

We already recevied many of reports this way and it really helps to make game more stable. Be assured that even when you do not get any quick reply from this mail account, your files will be carefully investigated and if possible fix will be provided in next patch.

Be sure to upgrade to the latest version, as it contains fixes for several bugs that could lead to crash.

  9. Q:I done (succesfuly) mission and campaign do not continue.

A: If you click on Replay Mission you will repeat only selected mission, and if you done it, game will not continue in campaign.  If you want to continue in OFP Campaign you must click on Continue (in campaign window) or Revert.
