Having the AI fire artillary is pretty simple. There is just one thing you need to make sure of first, the Range. If they are to close and dont have line of sight they cannot fire. Artillary has a very long range. To give you an Idea, in Takistan, you can place it at one airfield and shoot the other airfield. When it is at the southern airfield. It cannot hit the nearby city, that is to close for it. You can easily see what its range is when you get inside it and select the artillary computer. From there you will see 2 round lines going your current position. You can only shoot between the two lines. (they can be adjusted between close, medium, and far). From there it is just click on the map and click fire. For acualy having the AI fire, its even easier (again make sure your at the proper range). Open up the map goto the area on the map you want to shoot. use your F key to select the AI, his order to fire at target should already be highlighted. now just click on the map and he will fire at where you clicked. (asuming the range is correct). And acualy you dont even have to have the map open. if you have binoculars, or any gun with sights you can look at your target then use the F key to select your AI, and he will shoot at the target you are looking at. Its pretty impressive watching 9 AI all shooting off artilary. The only downside I have found with the AI and artilary is getting them to rearm. They have difficulty doing this. Infact its easier to just bring the ammo truck over there yourself and hop on the gun yourself to rearm them. AI just cannot seem to accomplish this.

In your opinion what is the best SP mission that takes advantage of the whole map?

I play Domination solo when I cant get a good internet connection. I just play the AI version. and bump it up to max 49AI member squad. Then go crazy over the whole map. -
It seems to have goten a bit worse in OA. But I think it is becouse of the harsh terrain. I had 5 M1's that I ordered from the southern airport to the center west side of the map. Instead of following some roads they took the dirrect route. Well some of those mountains in there are pretty tuff. and those abrams cannot get over there. Then anouther time I had a few MTVR's. Now I figured these would tend to stick to the roads. I cant remmeber the name of the city. but its on the south west side of the map. I ordered several MTVR's to move north up the road . Instead of following the road up they went offroad. Not a good idea in this mountainus terrian. At anyrate what I have found is I must order them togo much shorter distances then I could on chenarus. And if there is any difficutl terrain you will need todo even smaller distance orders.

I shot the last guard in a patroling squad at 350m with a m17 sniper SD rifle. The other 4 or 5 people in the squad did not respond. A thing to note here I was playing on the easiest difficulty. And if I shot a guard that anouther in that patrol was looking at then the patrol would respond. But still at 350m, they did not know who shot at them or where from.

Ahhh, was going to preorder on steam today and found they dont even have it listed yet. I really hope they have it avail on the 29th and not have to wait for a few days after.

Heh, I read the tittle and was thinking ohh AO is going to get some cool concusive wave effects on large explosions.

Yea I have it setup like: ***Edit got it fixed*** Thought I installed the latest version of @ACEX, but Armaholics did not have the 1.2 file then, so I was still using the 1.1 file got it from anouther source and now it is working fine.

having an issue hosting on a dedicated server. I have ran 1.25 just fine with it. but wanted to play the 2.10 ace version of it. At first I was thinking it was becouse I was using ace 1.1.xxx but now 1.2 has been released today so I updated mine and my hosts computer with the new files (goten from Armaholic). I was able to join a 2.10 ace version of the map and play just fine. went to the MPmissioncache and took the file and put it on my dedicated server. Then when I go into the game to play it. I see the mission there. and when I select the mission and click on play the screen flashes and stays on the select mission window. looking at the server console it says: Quote: 14:36:10 Mission co@40 DomiA2! ACE West AI [2.10] read from bank. But it never starts. Anyone have an idea what the issue might be? Edit. just tried with the 2.11 version directly from the site you posted Xeno and same problem with hosting. It does not start and stays at the mission selection screen with the server saying it loads from the bank. The Non ACE version is able to load with no issues thow. well excepts its not ACE p)

On ACE 1.24 Is it still possible to change it to ranked version in the setup.sqf and then run the setupcopy.bat? Becouse I did this last night and it seems a little off. and was wondering if the ranked version is even compatable anymore?

Thanks, but I had already added 2 more MHQ's, Plus some of the other varitables I changed (I like AI lots of them, more points to rank up, higher costs for arty and such, but quicker. and it was easy enough to get 20thSFG's A10 code to work, And then convert that over to a C130 heavy bomber. (always fun droping 50 GBU's on a city). Of course the disadvantage to using thier loadout setup is you have to have the planes already on the map, And it wont work for bonus vehicles. (acualy now that I think about it, I suppose instead of directing the loadout to work with a specific plane direct it to bonus vehicles?) Just some finishing touches tonight and should have the server up tomorrow night for some playing.

I have been wanting to have more MHQ's myself. I like to leave one at base so we can go back to HQ easily enough. But then I also like to have one on each side of main objective, and like to have one for the secoundary. So I decided to see if it would be somthing I could do. Exspecialy since I have no training in this area. But I am good at problem solving. After looking threw every file. I figured out how to add it in. Took me a few hours, and a few tries and tests. But I added 2 more MHQ's in. And they work just like the other two perfectly. All the stuff you need todo it is located in about 5 or 8 different files. Becouse its not as simple as putting them in. You also have to put in the stuff that warns if they are in transport, Also need to put in the markers for them. And make them respawn when destroyed. But thanks to Xeno for the base model, Thanks to Coug for his work as I used his modified version for my base. So now I have it setup in an escelation, Ranked, AI version. Now I just need to figure out how I can add in 20thSFG A10 loadout script. And then convert that over to a AH-1Z loadout script. And then figure out how to turn the C130 into a heavy bomber.

Steam Console Version Dedicated Server

I am using the steam dedicated server so I dont acualy have a server.cfg file. But I am assuming I can create one? I have seen you post the info on them before, But it was not related to steam. Once it is created do I put it in the same location as the arma2server.exe? ---------- Post added at 06:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:52 AM ---------- Ok, I got it all working now with this post and some of your other ones along with the wiki. Ok I am using Steams Arma 2 Console Version 1.04 to host a dedicated server on anouther computer. And everything works fine. However the issue I am having with it right now is if everyone leaves the server the game ends. And the map restarts when a person rejoins. This is kinda a problem for us becouse we like to play a map over 3 or 4 days. And during the night we like to shut the client computers down. We would like it so in the morning we could rejoin and pickup where we left off.

I saw there was a new patch today and was like ohhh, maybe I can start playing the game again. Nope not fixed. Seems like this is an important issue that would be resolved asap. Ohh well shelfed till hopfully next patch, it can sit next to HOI3.

Will my system handle a GTX 285 ok or will it bottleneck?

The most important part about asking if your system will handle the GTX 285 would be make sure you have the empty slot for it. As the GTX285 takes two physical slots. Next you will also need to make sure you PSU can handle the card. Minimum would be a 575w PSU that has atleast a 12v 42a rating. -
Yea saving the game and then reloading it does not work for AI west. Which kinda sucks becouse me and one other cannot complete a dozen side missions and two main missions in one siting. Would be nice if we could set the objective to only complete 10 side missions. Is there anouther map out there like this that is possible? Also anouther bug we found. The side mission of destroy the prision. We sent an arty strike at it to destroy the infantry around it. THen we noticed it destroying the building too. So we called in anouther air strike to level the building. However we never got the completion msg about it being destroyed. SO we layed some sachels down (50 of them) to attempt to destroy the rubble. However even then we did not get the completion msg.

Me and my bro like playing this mission togeather. However with only the two of us that darn enemy fighter really poses a problem with how often it respawns. is there a quick line of code in the file that I could change to increase the respawn time for that fighter?

Great job trying to stop the griefers. Most are probly using others codes, so I would not call them hackers, just griefers. Now the other day I was thinking instead of just trying to stop them, and boot them. Is there somthing we can do to harm them? corrupt there game or HD? For legal issues you could always put a warning in the server greeting.
