Not sure where to look for this, so could someone tell me how to get smoke billowing from my AH wreck? .. Thanks. I just placed a AH on the ground and set damage to maximum, but I need some smoke to complete the crashed effect! :)

Thank you so much ...... Wadensten for such a lovely song!!! http://www.youtube.com/user/Wadensten :):):)

Smoke my wreck!
Journeyman replied to Journeyman's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Thanks! I added those lines directly into the INIT field of the firelogics and it works a treat. How does the AttachTo work? for instance I want to have my downed AH smoking from the fuselage rather than the ground. I named the AH wreck so what is the correct input? For instance: AttachTo "wreck"; or without the hyphens and apostrophes? -

So this goes in the init of a chopper or... ?? And where do I find a fire in game logic? Sorry it's a bit confusing! In OFP I just would place an object, 'fire', with "this init burn sequence" or something it was easy! -

IMO above all else it's the performance issues that BIS need to address first. I can get some pretty good frames on my old 8800GTS 512mb and Core 2duo 3.0ghz with 4mb ram (by old I mean built last year!), but it is moments when you zoom in on that enemy through your scope just has he turns to face you, then suddenly you've got a slide show!! ARGH! So he lowers his gun, gets out a fag and says "When you're ready mate!" Well actually not, you just get shot, and not because you were a shit shooter but because your PC suddenly couldn't handle looking through a scope! It sucks! My rig might not be top notch but it plays every other recent shooter on high or very high with fluidity. These are definitely BIS' performance and optimisation issues and have been reported many times. If these issues are not fixed soon there will be a lot of folks migrating to another very similar game coming soon. I love this game, so I will be very disappointed if performance is not given priority in the next patch! :) -

I think it all comes down to expectations. Those that thought that ARMA2 was going to come out as a well-polished sequel to the two before have been seriously let down. Those that knew BIS would most likely release another bug fest of just higher quality graphics, environment and gameplay and with a few more features are more than contented with the game. I also notice from reading back through various posts that those that are most annoyed and frustrated with this game to date are those that like to play the game as a 'ready made' single player experience, whilst those that are more contented are those that prefer to mess around in the editor or play MP only. I fit into the later and although there are plenty of minor issues still to be fixed I am not that concerned because they don't break the enjoyment for me and I know how BIS will continue to improve it with future patches. However, I would have liked to have a play through the campaign, but have been much discouraged from doing so from all the many complaints about it. I was also hoping for something of the order of OFP CWC as a campaign experience and this would have been a big encouragement for all us budding mission designers. It obviously isn't like that so shame on BIS I guess. I sometimes think that maybe BIS should have promoted this game more as a superb wartime sandbox and MP experience with a few side SP missions to experiment with! Maybe then there would have been a lot fewer lost expectations! I paid £25 for this game. Most new releases are £35, so maybe we should see the £10 saving as a payment towards us being patient for all the fixes that it needs and as a ‘thank you’ for beta testing it for them! ;) -

Yes but it's the bigoted way that you said it! ... Please be more polite to people in future and try to be a bit more tolerant of other people’s views! ;) Infraction +1! :p -

It's just BIS' way of vetting all those that don't have the right qualities to be part of the elite BIS community! :p -
Hi all. Probably a bit noobish but I can't find a way to create a respawn on death in the editor. In OFP it was an extension file with respawn = "group"; or respawn = "base";. I pretty much skipped Arma! so I need updating a bit!! Thanks. :) ---------- Post added at 08:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:45 PM ---------- Anyone? :o

Ah ha! Thanks Bunny! That's what I forgot. Last time I messed around in OFP it was always in the MP editor and not the SP one! -

Floating ships?

Yep me too! The best thing about a ship IMO is that it floats!! -

Journeyman replied to Journeyman's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
OK Thanks. Making the units all 'Playable' has now enabled the Team Switch button but it does nothing and I still don't respawn on death! I've checked that the file is an .ext one too. Perhaps if someone could PM me a simple mission with respawn enabled I could figure it out? -

Well done thanks!! ... Documents/ArmA2/Other Profiles! I'd never of guessed! ;) ---------- Post added at 06:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:48 PM ---------- BAH! I give up! Even though I've now got the right folder now my decription.ext files have zero effect! In my .ext file i have got this: respawn = 5; respawnDelay = 10; This acording to the Wiky should make me respawn to any units on my side upon death and also give me Team Switch in game. I've tried saving and reloading etc. ... I'm doing something wrong but what?? All worked well in OFP! -

OK Thanks. But this is what I've been trying! The problem is I'm confused now where the various folders are. In Documents/ArmA2 I have the following folders: missions, MPMissions, Saved and UserSaved but when I save a mission in the editor I can't find it in any of these folders!! It's all a bit confusing for an old fart like me!! -

I have a Trackball Optical with two additional buttons and I have no problems assigning functions to these in ArmA2. If you do you should be able to go into your mouse software and just assign the additional buttons to work as keyboard keys for chosen applications. I have not ventured much into the campaign yet as I have only had time to mess around in the editor, but I have to say hands up to BIS for creating such a beautiful, huge and believable environment! I would just like to know if there is anyway of making the civilian and wildlife modules populate the map just a bit more? For instance does adding more than one ambient wildlife module onto the map increase the number of animals that spawn or is only one module possible? A little work needed on the civilian spawning too as a lot of them seem to get injured in the process or end up getting stuck in doorways in some pretty funny positions. -

In the last few pages I read of a lot of annoying bugs. I hope all of these are being referred to the bug tracker so BI can be aware of them for future patches. I’m no longer sure when it will be that I buy the game, but at the moment it is getting longer everyday! :( -

Very LOL indeed! I just wish BIS could sort out a better crash to ground model. We've had the wooden model planes bouncing on their noses since OFP! -

... Lovely scenery, but at about 0.39 a soldier walks through a sheep! Are the animals just bodiless ghosts or is it just the usual clipping bug? -

The infinite land is more of a psychological thing than anything else. Having invisible walls or magic missiles/bullets that shoot you down if you pass beyond the game world creates a feeling of claustrophobia and spoils that illusion of a natural endlessly explorable environment. It worked well with the infinite sea so I’m glad that BIS are incorporating something similar with the terrain. We probably won’t wander far into it but it is the knowing that ‘you can if you want to’ that makes it worth having IMO. -
The ponds and sea do look great in those shots. Can I take it that we will still only be having static water though and still no flowing streams or rivers or waterfalls as yet? I'm not being greedy, just asking!
