Last thing i'd ever want to see is Turkey in the world cup finals. I'd even prefer Italy to win the whole thing

And now the whole world admires Ronaldinho for his excellent goal. But it wasnt meant to be, actually for what he intended to do, the ball came down about 4 metres away. People overestimate Brasil and this you will see today against Turkey. And maybe on Sunday you will for the first time see Brasil against Germany in a worldcup final. If they are as good as everyone sais, they gonna slaughter us. But if they only beat us 1-0 or 2-1 they are not worth all this publicity. Even if spain and Italy were cheated, so what? All this protest wont change anything anyway, everyone knows that FIFA would never change a final result. But what they do is harm their reputation as sportsmen and they harm the reputation of SOCCER. Dont these morons earn enough? Everyone knows that Italy and spain are good teams. They lost but in 2 years they can try it again. I am pretty much sure England and Germany wouldnt have made such corruption accusals, we would have insulted the opponent, maybe, but not this.... Â Whoever is wrong or right I dont care, but it is the reputation of soccer. That is why I think the spanish and the Italians behave like children without self-control. Life is not always fair, but when you are a gentlemen you tell yourself." wait and see next time brothers!" and you leave the pitch with honour!<span id='postcolor'> Ronaldiho is a great bloke, he is truly a role model and a guy who will be giving brazilian football a great reputation despite poncy players like Rivaldo. I refer of course to the comments he made about scoring that goal after the game. You might expect him to be arrogent but instead he said some really nice things about seaman and basically acted like a true professional. he's one of my new favorite players

Luck wasn't on there side, and the referee might have been influenced by the pressure of the audience and the magnitude of the match. but this is not the way to react. They're just making a fool out of themselves.<span id='postcolor'> Italy are, but the fact is Spain are complaining because they outplayed Korea, and should've won 2-0. They scored 2 goals, both of them should have been allowed. There was no foul play or anything that should've affected them. Spain won that game 2-0, and yet they didn't go through. I think they have every right to complain, they have been cheated out of the world cup. Like they said ''This wasn't just some Friendly, it was the world cup''. I'm pretty certain, in fact i guarentee, if anyone here was in that Spanish team that played Korea, they'd be complaining about this for years, and yes, i myself would be tempted to go out there and kick the linesman in the balls. Korea didn't deserve to get this far. they've tried hard and they've given football a better reputation, but the fact is, they aren't good enough to get this far in the world cup. This is proven by the fact that they got beaten by Italy and Spain. Its just a shame these wins were totally fucked up by ignorant reffing. Corrupt or not, those linesman should never ref top level matches like this again, and the ref himself was a bit suspect as mora pointed out. I'm not a Spain fan, nor am i an italian fan (i fucking hate italian footballers actually). But i was still extremly pissed off at the treatment they recieved from the reffing. I think the fact that korea got this far is enough to prove they got special treatment. Sod their high work rate, that doesn't make up for the fact they aren't good enough to beat top level teams like Spain and Italy. They only beat them because they were playing 14 players at once (if you include ref and both linesmen). I'm pretty sure people like placebo would be screaming and shouting and crying if england had a goal like that of Morientes disallowed, especially if that goal would've given us victory over say Brazil. We'd probably react much worse than the Italians and Spanish.

The country has been in decline since 1494'' then theres that whole ''The world has done a poor job promoting their pathetic world cup to us (americans)''. First of all it was not a deliberate hand-game since he did not have his hand liften and secondly because he did not see the ball coming, right (he didnt move it either)? Now if he did not do it deliberately there is not penalty KICk, that is a rule. Secondly if a Ref is not too sure and he thinks of the fact in a 50/50 relation then he has to judge in discretion. So once again no penalty kick! There is too much useless wanna-be knowledge involved in the discussions about that game. Please people before you start debating, dont just paraphrase what you read elsewhere!<span id='postcolor'> The ref has said he didn't award the penalty because the hand ball wasn't by any means intentional. One of the rules of football with relation to fouls is that there isn't a huge punishment over them if they are unintentional. In other news Spain are making an official complaint about that terrible ref, and it seems the papers want Germany to thrash Korea to put an end to all the corruption. I want Germany to win because Korea have been beaten shedloads of times (Especially by the Spanish) in the competition but they've been incredbly lucky and got through by following bad reffing decisions. Its good they have got so far as placebo said, but the fact remains they didn't even deserve to get past italy. I hope no one slags off the Spanish for doing this, because unlike the Italians, they are not just being dickheads. They are complaining because they are world cup winners who have been cheated out of the competition by an opponent who doesn't even deserve to be there.

What is your most favorite era of war

I like any wars that have a lot of wierd violence in them. For example i like the olden days where they'd put guys in big catapults and chuck them at castles, but not the poncy gulf war. I also like tanks, so WW2 onwards is pretty cool. My favorite warring civilisations are the Brits, Japanese, Romans (not only did they have cool fights, but some wicked perverted leaders that are interesting to read about) and any of those olden day ones who went around with big army slaughtering people just for fun (eg. the kahn bloke). Favorite battle i like to study is Stalingrad and the funniest conflict i think is vietnam.

In the process they score shedloads of goals. Its just they get disallowed a lot and in the end they get fucked. Just look at irelands ''glorious'' loss in penalties to spain. The fact remains because of one stupid little mistake by the linesman, spain are now out of the world cup. Evidence suggests that the linesman was corrupt or just fucking stupid since he flagged well after the ball was cleared from the line. Spain should have won, Korea should out. Whats more, no matter how hard korea played, spain played miles better and therefore deserved to win.

i'd like: easy to use misson creator type thing (can't bloody get the hang of it ) Vehicles and weapons from a huge timeline (say, 1900 - 2004, assuming opf2 comes out in 2005) so you can do the whole ''Me in my Challenger 2 taking on all the eatern front axis tank force by myself'' type of fantasies. Shogun style single player campaign, where you have to build up your armies and use a battle map to start invasions (all those ''lets stomp those capitalist american/British/Russian pigdogs'' fantasies). Good graphics (with no glitches)

    The worldcup 2002

It was great to see such a young england squad get so far, after all that stick they got. In the end we got beat by Brazil and thats not such a bad thing, praise the lord we didn't get beat by USA or (*gasp*) italy. Today we didn't play well enough and its our fault we lost. Even if Ronaldinho didn't score that incredible free kick i think we'd have lost. Overall i think the Brazilians have a fantastic and will probably win the world cup, i just hope Rivaldo gets his career ended soon for his pathetic female like diving performance today. He really is the fucking twat of the world cup. Italy will be forever rediculed now and will be considered the cosmetically potent but technically shite team they are (and they are all ponces and twats anyway, except for a few i suppose, del piero, vieri and zanetti kick ass). England beat Argentina and proved to be a great team in the end (which is good). All the teams tipped to be winners are now losers (except spain and Brazil of course) Plus rivaldo has been exposed as the sad, laughable diving wanker he has always been, but to the whole world. Plus the tabloids have been taking the piss out of the scottish for being wankers and the USA for dissing the most popular sport in the world. overall it was a great world cup shame holland weren't there though hopefully next year they will be and van the man (or indeed, kluivert the man) will pick up the golden boot and laugh their way past all the competition (except england of course)

    1. Playing Rugby/watching football (i'm actually pretty naff playing football, so i just watch) 2. Formulating ideas that i may be able to use to get my girlfriend to give me some (i have many, unfortunatly they are too risky or didn't work ) 3. Playing computer games (operation flashpoint obviously) 4. Listening to music and critisizing music (listening to metal slagging off pop music) 5. Internet for a large range of purposes 6. Hopefully England will win the world cup, i think we have a good chance against Brazil since their defense is pretty naff. If England don't win Brazil hopefully will

    The worldcup 2002, who wins

Well, some brazilian player (Carlos or Rivaldo, not sure) said that Brazil v England will be the 'real world cup final'. Basically saying whoever wins that match will go on to win the world cup. England are of course underdogs, but then we ''didn't stand a chance'' against the danes. Given Brazils poor performance against the belgiums though its not entirly impossible to beat them. Its nice to think that a foreign team have such a high opinion of the english team when practically every other team has said they suck ass (like denmark, swedan and argentina). Bring it on Brazil!!! My Predictions: Brazil v England - 1-1 draw. England go through after penalties (for this is the time for England to eliminate past ghosts and stuff etc...) Final - Spain vs England/Brazil

Spain have had 2 penalties aginst them and two disallowed goals i'm all for ireland going through but the game i think should've been spains. The ref was right on the second penalty but the first was a blatent dive by duff and i think spains second goal shouldn't have been disallowed

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Bonfire @ June 15 2002,06:40)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">ah interesting thread. anywho, heres my take... i should point out though, i do not have "all the answers", i'm just tossing in my 2 cents i do believe that there is a God. Â And i believe that he created life and earth and such. Things like a strand of DNA for example, i think that for something that exact, that fine tuned, can only be created by a loving and dedicated creator. Â I think that for humans to come this far, to have done so much more than any other species in the history of time (and in such a short period of time) is not a fluke. Â And for such a wide variety of life to come from a random mixing of amino acids and protens and such just seems so unbelieveable. Â I have a friend whos a sold atheist, and she believes in evolution, and thinks that 100,000 years ago, a sudden change happend in "our" brains that made us more intelligent. Â and to her, the notion of a God was very far fetched. Â Not unlike the notion of a sudden change in our brains is to someone who is a creationist. I believe that God has given us freewill (i figure because its more satisfying to be worshiped by people who want to rather than people who have to), and has given everyone a purpose. Â I can't imagine that life evolved for a billion years just so i can waist time in from of my pc. Â anyway, i'll leave it at that for now <span id='postcolor'> I believe in evolution because not only does it sound mkore beleivable than the whole ''This Magical Bloke created all life from one of his ribs or something (even though he isn't a physical being, or at least there is no evidence for him being a physical being)'', but there is actually evidence that evolution is the way we are today. Look at the way animals adapt to their surroundings and develop resistances to certain things - do they develop such things because god feels they should have a better chance of living? The humans didn't just one day suffer a brain thing and become more intelligent. Look at ice men - most of their actions came from instinct. From instinct came learning - learning intellegence. Then look how human attitudes have changed over these few hundred years. Used to be just one fantastic slaughter. [people craved violence and had a great time going around stomping on other people. Now we have an increased number of humanitarians. No longer can a normal bloke wander down the street kneecapping people for fun because of such pacifists. And why is the idea of a sudden brain change causing someone to change? Look at vietnam - loads of yanks came home after that feeling way different, and everyone who went to vietnam just blathers on all day about how terrible/great it was and how they won the war etc... and much the same for all wars. Look at serial killers - often the mad rampages are a result of depression, anger, frustration, boredom whatever... these things change the state of mind of a person. If indeed there is a god, who has power over all the changes of society and people, then he is a pretty shitty god. Why won't he stop wars or murder or crime. Or at least, why doesn't he stop these things for the people who do dedicate their lives to him. The overall conclusion being if there is a god he doesn;t give a fuck about the human race or this planet and probably takes pleasure in creating wars and death and the expansion of pop music. He won't stop these things, although he may have the power to do this. If this is the case, why is it people go to church all the time to suck up to the fucker. A person who hands over a big clump of fifties to the pope or whatever still stands the chance of beiung killed or raped or ruined, just as any person in the world stands this chance as society becomes worse and worse. Likewise, a ri8ch yank living in manhatten may pray to god everyday and still be rich and shag beautiful women, but the poor bloke with the starving kids and malaria praying to god will recieve fuck all, except a belief that he will go to heaven if he worships every day - which may be the good thing about religion. But the fact is, he will have a shitty life regardless of how hopeful he is of going to heaven. God will not cure his disease, god will not feed his children, god will not give him money. Since this guy will have a terrible life he will pray to go to heaven and therefore pray basically for death - which ultimatly means religion can cause people to belief they are expendible in life. Which is exactly the belief suicide bombers, killers, poor people... have of themselves - religion will amplify this feeling which in some cases will result in the further downfall of society where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I'm sure if god is as all powerful, and as much as a nice bloke as people think of him, the world would not be experiancing poverty, starvation, war or big brother. Its just 50% (religious people) of the people in the world believe he will do something about it all, and 50% (like me) do not believe he will do anything about it. The fact religion brings hope and beliefs to pewople doesn't mean anything. A suicide bomber will go out and kill 50 people with his faith and hope in religion still fully intact. The faith and the hope will not cause society to get better. If anything it will make it worse. imho of course.
