  1. OK heres an update, I got the new sound card drivers, and it didn't help a bit. I'm virtually unable to play OFP in multiplayer because I have no idea whats going on, and I'd like to figure it out... anyone else have any ideas? I'm thinking I might be deficient in another category of my system's performance, could this be it? Here are my specs: Abit KG7 1333mhz Athalon tnt2 M64 PCI video card SB PCI128 256mb of PC2100 DDR IBM 40gb 7200rpm (about 3/5 full) Am I lacking somewere enough that my voice chat is unable to perform properly? Any additional help appreciated. Mike
  2. The thing is Malbouef, I'm playing on a server that just happens to have VON enabled, I didn't choose it. I just would rather be able to hear them legibly and reply without having to type it in. I'd like to fix the problem rather than replace it I'm still waiting for the Sound Blaster driver (220 people in front of me), but I've got a new sound card on my "to buy" list along with a new video card and more ram none the less. If the drivers don't work, I'm not sure what will. Any other ideas? Mike

    Can normal humans create mods?

Wow guys, thanks for all the info. I never expected to have so many people helping me. OFP is truly a great community! I'm beating myself in the head for not learning Maya when I had a chance - the computer lab at my old High School had 3 dozen computers all with Maya on it, and a teacher that knew quite a bit about the program (even though he was a total ass). While my friends were making people and bouncing balls, I was surfing the web... sheesh, hindsight is 20/20! Anyways, it seems that the best route I'm seeing here is to try and enter myself into modeling using basic learning tools with better-supported freeware beginner programs, then transitioning into Oxygen. I'd rather not pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for a program if I don't have to, and I doubt I will model for anything other than OFP. I guess I need another hobby, so I might as well give it a go. Its looking pretty daunting already... not only do I have to make the model, but then I've got to apply the flight stuff to it, and the instruments on the panel, and the actions, and the seats, and where the troops sit... sheesh!!! I've got quite a bit to learn! Any other advice appreciated Mike
  4. Thanks for the reply Mr. Frag, I'll download the latest drivers today. Mine are pretty new (newest from 2-3 months ago), but that could be an issue. I have cable internet, clocked at 3200kbps down and around 300kbps up. I had nothing but OFP running when I played and I had around a 150ms ping. I've got another question... what I understand is that OFP will use whatever VON program you have installed to communicate with other players, and I have RW installed... could the other players have had a different program installed (causing a conflict) and/or could RW be inferior to other programs? Or maybe the server was just too far away from me? Any additional help appreciated, Mike
  5. Hello, I played my first VON-enabled game today (I have Roger Wilco installed), and while everyone could hear me just find, I could not understand their speaking as it was garbled and broken to sound like a broken robot. I've used RW before, as well as HL in-game chat, and never had a problem. Anyone know whats going on and how I can fix it? My sound card is a SB PCI128, btw. Thanks! Mike

    Locking pintle guns foreward

Hey guys, I'm interested - any reason why pintle mounted guns couldn't be "locked" foreward when they are going to be used by pilots for strafing runs? "Door gun" Miniguns on Marine Corps UH-1Ns can be locked forewards in flight (by the crew chief) or on the ground (by anyone) then fired manually by the pilots - the case is true on many other aircraft. Could this be considered in a future update, or is it already possible? Just wondering... Mike
  7. Hello, I know this is going to sound extremely vague, but I've got to ask it - how hard is it to create a new model from the ground up for OFP with no prior computer modeling experience? I have a list of things that I *must* have for OFP but don't want to beg others to make them, but I also don't want to start work, invest time, only to find out that it would take an unskilled person 2 years to create a vehicle or helicopter. So, people that have experience, should I even make the attempt? Thanks, and hopefully I don't look to ignorant for having asked this Mike

    Listening to music in OFP!

Hello, I have recently run into a problem. I would like to listen to MP3 music via Winamp while playing OFP, yet cannot seem to adjust the music volume down enough so that I can hear the OFP game volume. Here are the symptoms: -When I turn Winamp volume down, the game volume goes down, unless I touch any volume control in game, then everything resets -When I turn System Volume down outside of OFP, OFP game volume goes down as well. -There is no MP3 music adjustment in OFP to mess with, so none of the other controls control MP3 music volume. Anyways, I have a SoundBlaster 128PCI if you need to know, and any help would be greatly appreciated! Rotor
