Saboteur how do you do it?

The one where you have to enter the base to destroy the 2 T-72s and BMP, then escape? 1.04 i came pretty close but always got spotted planting the devices near the T-72. Though i always heard distant gunfire coming from the direct where you should run after you finish even before you plant the bombs. 1.05 however completely messes everything up. The sniper/soldier on the corner near the front entrance sees everything. Whether he has NVG on i have no idea as i've not managed to dispose of him without setting of the alarm. 1st time i tried the mission however i was just approaching the place, coming up the side of the bridge (underneath it) looking upwards to see tracer fire heading upwards, making it somewhat impossible to even get near without alerting anybody. Tis busted for sure. That or i'm just really bad.

    Patch 1.05 impressions

I've had nothing but goodness with 1.04 -> 1.05. It flows as well as it did before the patch (or as well as it can on my 7600GS) and the introduction of the free ironsites is just a dream come true. The only problem I have is the slow to load textures, but i don't have much of a problem with that as my PC is fairly old anyway. Oh, i suggest people who use vsync get Rivatuner from Guru3d.com, it has a neat little program included in it that allows D3D triple buffering, makes it run super smooth with no image tearing.

    Postprocessing effects

Depth of Field is a blurring technique used to simulate the way your eyes work somewhat, making areas your character is viewing sharper, and the items further/closer/around said area somewhat blurry and undefined. A simple example of this would be to put it on an go into the scope/iron sites with an M16/M4 and note the blurring of the edges of the scope, but not the DOT or area of view. Putting post processing off simply removes this feature. I believe it also removes the glow that HDR usually has, though i'm unsure of that.

    Jerking graphics

a: Your graphics card is old and part of a series that is barely able to run this game. Upgrade would be the only suggestion. b: DirectX feb is the latest release, but you can use the version supplied on the ArmA disk with no problems.

    Voice volumes

Interesting, EAX enabled? I found with it off sounds get alot more levelled out, but you lose alot of the immersion factor like sound distance etc. Hardware sound may also be a problem, i find it can get a tad too loud with that enabled. I guess you either have to find a happy medium or someone will figure out what to do.
  6. True enough, i'm on a 7600GS which is by no means powerful but it doesn the job till i get a new system, but turning on post processing to high loses 0-2fps overall. Also anti-aliasing from off to normal does no performance damage at all. Odd thing really. One thing, is there a recommended version of Nvidia drivers that should be used? or should i just stick with 91.47.
  7. What version driver are you using? I'm still using the 91.47 version on my 7600GS and it works fine.

How does the UK version run

I get that aswell JimLad, alt + tabbing fixes it. Though I'd expect them to fix the memory purging issue so we don't need to do that in the next patch (which apparently has an improved LOD system transition) Though to be fair to BIS, that is the ONLY problem I'm having with this game.

Your ideal PC to play ARMA?

Well, currently I have an... AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 1gb DDR266 Nvidia 7600GS 256mb AGP It's damned old (about 4 years) but it does the job, atleast for armed assault. Ideally though i do have my eye on a new PC. Something along the lines of a... Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz 1 GB DDR2 PC5400 Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX Though I think if i get it earlier, i'd stay with XP until vista is used a little more. Better get saving!

    Hardware and settings for ArmA

Athlon XP 2400+ 1gb Ram Nvidia 7600GS 256mb AGP Normal settings on terrain/objects/textures. Low post processing though i don't notice a difference in FPS with it on high. Normal AF filtering, no AA. 15 minimal FPS is heavy areas, generally though it's above 25.

    1.04 server patch

The reason there is no 1.04.5 server/patch is because for the UK etc release 505 Games Street have an exclusive on the additional content that the patch will provide for the rest of you with the 1.05 patch that we'll all get in about 2/3 weeks. Also I wouldn't talk about torrenting it.
