Turning OFP into your favourite game!
PVT. B.Scriven replied to gandalf the white's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
P.S. If im talking bollocks, and im just refering to something this flare00.pac file does, how exactly would I go about editing it? -
Problems I can see with FFUR + some ideas. (not enough praise for it naturally, couldnt begin to list all the good points) -music is - as has been said countless times - completely out of place -new handbook in the map, and debriefing books aren't nice -berghof's nature pack is detailed, but too bright and colourfull and worsens the LOD 'popping'. A mixture of the orginal and resistance vegetation would be fine I think. Anyone else with me on that? -the fading in the menu is really annoying -AI have become overly accurate I think. I enjoy the realism, but is it very realistic for a farmer with AK47 to spot and shoot me from hundreds of feet away within seconds? (Red Hammer campain). I know trained riflemen can engage targets at the weapon's maximum effective range - and above - but i think the AI has become too accurate and long in vision. Im likely to be told off for being either a poor shot, or trying to make the game arcade style, but I shall just have to risk it. Wondered if anyone else has been using this mod mentioned in this thread : (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=4;t=44390) Im refering to the material properties addon. It seems little known, and works very well on certain addons. I wonder if anyone is intrested in its implementation into FFUR. Yay or nay? Can the hand signals command system be implemented into single player campaigns perchance? It would greatly increase both the realism and immersiveness I think. Id appreciate anyone else's opinion on this little rant of mine.

Thank you for the welcome, I've finally joined the forum community after looking at the forums for a good few years now: needed that search function. I may have a go at what you proposed, although im not sure if he was talking about the lighting that results from machine guns. It didnt seem to be happening in the pictures shown about the mod, so i presume mabye its something that could be disabled. i.e. this kind of pervasive, lighting that doesnt seem to allow shadows is what i dislike most. doesnt happen with rockets: Happens with tanks and jeeps as well, and illuminates everything around it without shadowing. Most irriating. Sorry to be pest but any ideas? -

Gandalf and CameronMcDonald, The materials addon works but I am experiencing this flare effect also, yet as always machine guns produce this kind of bizzare light that goes through everything, and illuminates everything: it doesnt allow for shadows like rocket light. I suppose this is a little off topic, as it concerns the native lighting of the game, instead of a mod but I'd appreciate your collective expertise. I get beautiful lighting with rockets, similar in a way to the special effects from this addon. I am a scripting newbie, and merely know about instaling addons. Any ideas, or is there a simple setting that will disable this unrealistic light, so that the mod can be seen properly. I could include pictures if you wished. Many thanks, Ben P.S. If it matters: - GOTY edition fully patched - 3.6+ AMD 64 - Mobility Radeon X700 128MB - around 1250 MB RAM
