Hi all, yeah its this old chestnut but im still having trouble with the transparency side of things. Before we start, I've read the wiki guide and done it step by step and still my transparency does'nt save. so I've got my emblem, I can get it to work online, but the transparency does'nt save when I convert to .paa. It just shows up white background in MP. I've tried direct .paa save, .tga-.paa coversion save, different colour ranges, I do have the correct dimensions. I just can't see why it aint working. I'm not that great with arty programs but I've read photoshop guide for transparency and can make it work on photoshop... just not ArmA. Anyone got Xfire, Msn that I could maybe send the file to, and you send me back a working transparent background? all help is appreciated. Btw - my search turned up nothing that could help me. Preach

6thSense.eu Mod Reloaded, Public Beta Release
Preacher1985 replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yo only me, been looking through the mods in more detail and just need some clarification... Am I correct in saying the NWDdispersions affects only the default weapons, and under the SIXweapons>defines.hpp only affect the custom SIXweapons that have been added? Also, now that I have found the RAC SKA mercs, I cannot find the High dispersion version of them, have they been disabled? I basically want very long firefights with the AI dispersion much much bigger. So I guess my question is, what is the best file to edit to increase dispersion all around? Preach -
6thSense.eu Mod Reloaded, Public Beta Release
Preacher1985 replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Thanks sickboy I found the mercs, but I have another question. I have trolled through many readme's and the wiki with no avail so here goes... I run the latest Fromz sound pack, I love it, but the 6thsense stuff seems to override it. So my question is, how can I disable the 6thsense sound and ensure only Fromz is running? And also how to disable Dr Eyeballs view distance selector off the action menu? I also get a small error saying the Fromz soundpack has been deleted or move so cannot play/edit the mission (even though I can still play it) however, I've checked the mission.sqm and made sure its not a requirement, I've checked the Arma launcher mod path to ensure its launching Fromz and checked he dir of the sound pack but I cannot see where I am going wrong. Any ideas? Preach -
6thSense.eu Mod Reloaded, Public Beta Release
Preacher1985 replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
So i've got the 1gig (6thSense.eu Mod v1.24) mod pack and notice the ska_RAC units are in it but I cannot find them anywhere in the editor? Are they disabled, hidden or have they changed editor name since the standalone release? Preach -

Hi remember me? I'm the guy running an ATI x850 xt pe with no graphic distortions..... well for all you unlucky ATI people out there, I **might** have found a fix..... I was tweaking my system as I usually do every now and then. Wohoo! Anyway, I downloaded this freeware called Advance System Optimizer. Had a play about, and I found an option not enabled called  "Enable Large system Cache" - I could'nt resist so I enabled it. Restarted the machine and tried to play Arma.... Well well well, as soon as the map loaded I had the exact same graphic distortions as all the previous screenshots showed. I rebooted again just to make sure something else was'nt interfering, and the same distorted results. Back into ASO and disabled it, and low and behold ArmA is back to no graphic distortions and plays fine (apart from CTD during weapon select and breifing) So here's a possible fix for you guys, you might have ran a tweak program in the past and had no adverse effects. But I suggest downloading this program, and make sure the "Enable large system cache" is disabled. If it is enabled, disabled it and try arma, hopefully you'll be able to play. If it is already disabled, enable if, reboot, try arma, if you get the same graphic distortion, disabled it again and reboot and pray  Remember you have to reboot the machine to make sure its taken effect. http://server6.theimagehosting.com/image.php?img=system cache.JPG All I can say is goodluck! Brabax your PSU is far too low mate. You need atleast 500W for PCI-E cards setup but I'd say play it safe and go for a 550W or 600W. Also bear in mind a PSU never runs at the wattage it says on the box. Good ones will be 80-90% efficient and bad ones will only be around 60-70% efficient. 400W PSU @ 75% efficiency = 300W true PSU Â as an example Alot of PCI-E cards draw 150Watts. Your components will only draw what power it needs so you don't 'waste' electricity. The reason you dont see much change in core temps is because the components will most likely not be running at full potential. Also, not enough power = crashes .. generally speaking I can sell you a 570W PSU for 40 quid if you like never used Preach **EDIT** Â All those with memory errors like ... "Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 4FD903D7" try the below link http://www.errorkiller.com/ Run a scan and see what the results say.

Earlier I posted I was using ATI 6.12 drivers. Well, I was wrong I'm using 6.11 drivers and im getting no graphic distortions. Any ATI person out there who has'nt tried 6.11 give it a go. Remember to uninstall old ones properly first :/

Hmm, due to the high volume of ATI users getting shafted on the demo and full game, I'm sure either BIS or ATI themselves will be rewriting some code somewhere to help sort out the ATI drivers. They would be mad not to. For BIS it'd loose like half customers For ATI it drive potential buyers to Nvidia I only hope someone will get a fix before the game goes retail UK.

@Jack-uk I've no idea what the exact differences in the demo are but atleast get the latest/proper. Could be more stable, I have really no idea as I never got the 5108 version. Don't ask questions just get the latest version. EDIT @OFCAt This problem was fixed on these forums somewhere already, I dont have time to look for but it the SEARCH button is your best friend. I think someone searched for that file and downloaded if off the net individually. And just dumped it into the right place. search for it! #EDIT Reinstall DirectX ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ http://www.microsoft.com/downloa....lang=en

I will post this here as I found it looking for the systemboost. Ultimate Defrag made by the same company is also pretty sweet. It defrags the HDD's properly unlike the built in windows defrag. I suggest reading the help file as it tells you how to defrag a gaming system - basically putting you window folder and allows you to select all your games folders seperately and individually puts them on the outter tracks of the HDD. And packs the other folders of no great imports to the inside tracks. That way your HDD's dont need to work so hard to find the software for games etc I suggest leaving your system on all night while you sleep as this takes a while. Preach

1.03 Will it fix the SERIOUS peformance drop ?
Preacher1985 replied to shadowze's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Be mindful of the CPU temperature aswell, alot of the new CPU's auto underclock themselves if they get too hot, thereby reducing performance greatly without you even noticing. -
Just occured to me, I've read this again and well..... Is it me, or is it mostly if not only ATI users thats got all the problems with crashes/graphics and whatnot else. I have'nt looked in depth yet, but itd seem from the weakest to the strongest ATI card is encountering problems all over the place. Should ATI users be concerned here for the full game release, or is this just pure and simply a bad demo build? PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SAY ITS A BAD DEMO BUILD!!
-
I'm abit stumped as to why I have'nt found this anywhere, as it seems so common on net. When I start game with demo, it just seems to randomly crash. It just says the .exe encountered a fault, crash to desktop. It mostly happens during the briefing screen, but also can happen during a mission itself. I've saw so many people say it online. Is it just a bad demo or is it actually a hardware problem everyone is having? I'm hoping its just a demo problem, I can live with that, I'd hate to be looking for yet another upgrade. Anyone else know/experienced what im talking about? cheers Preach

Hmm, I'm using the X850 XT PE with the 6.12 build of drivers. I have to say, everything runs absolutely fine as far as graphics go. I can get away with most settings on high with not bad fps and no graphics glitches. Now, a while back I used Omega drivers, and low and behold it completely bollox up my card with results closely aligned with the above screenshots. mucho distortion and or tearing and or colour problems of all kinds and or artifacts. And that was before I even touched the Omega drivers O/C utility. It happened in all games I tried to play, sometimes it was fine, then new map/loading screen or just randomly bolloxed things up. So anyways, I went back to ATI only drivers and all has been fine since, although it took me a time clearing out anything Omega drivers from my system and reg. Never again will I touch Omega drivers..... ever... Anyways, my 2p worth. When you're updating drivers for the love of god do it properly and remove all the old ones first and dont just 'overwrite' the old ones... thats when most problems occur. Preach

^^ Most of the above arguments are useless at best. Neither side puts their point across contructively or even try to begin to analyse either sides point of view. Before we start let me say im agreeing or justifying either side! For an argument to be atleast valid there has to be two points of view. I have saw the ArmA video and the IRL video of the sniper. Going back the the quick point of Saving Private Ryan, it was potrayed as American hero's etc etc from one side. American medics saving the lives of comrades and doing what they needed to do to stay alive. But what about the Germans? Their medics did the same, their troops did what they needed to do to try and survive. They also were heros. I'm not even going to into the politics of war, thats an area best kept away from these boards and far from ArmA. I did not see much of an outcry during the Mogadushi incident remade in OpFlash with the blackhawk and downed american troops. From the US side of things the downed blackhawk rescue attempt was done by brave men, heros etc etc etc And from the Mogadushi tribesmen, as far as they were concerned they were defending against invaders, occupiers, allbeit the enemy. The same applies to Iraq today. THERE ARE TWO POINTS OF VIEW, REGARDLESS OF BEING 'INTERNATIONALLY' or 'MORALLY' RIGHT. The same happened in Northern Ireland, British troops where 'defending' part of the UK. The IRA and whoever else where fighting against the 'occupiers'. Infact, most wars if you look at them will have this theme. Now this Iraq sniper video, Jubba is classed as a 'Hero' because he is fighting the occupiers of his country. The Americans, British and other allies are also classed as 'Heros' because they are supposed to be helping build a country from the ruins after saving it from a dictator etc etc This cannot be fully 'discussed' because of the politics which I've already said should stay the hell out of these boards and get back to the damn point of this thread. This thread is about ArmA videos, don't read too far into any videos, admire it for the creators artwork, skill and talent. Not always for the content of who's being shot, who's doing the shooting and who's having a cuppa tea. Jesus people this is a game, I could create videos of civillians being shot, animals being killed, troops being cut down in a firefight and these user created videos, nearly all of them have happened in a war somewhere, regardless of who's fighting who. GET OVER IT, ITS A F**CKING GAME. MOST USER VIDEOS ARE VERY WELL DONE AND THE AUTHOR SHOULD BE CONGRATULATED, AND NOT TORN APART BECAUSE OF THE THEME. If this 'topic' continues, then let the thread be locked. Now, after that bollox, anyone got anymore good video for show?

DXDLL 1.0 (not Geforce MX compatible)
Preacher1985 replied to kegetys's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
How can I remove the DXDLL folder and effects from my system? It's messed up my framerate but when I delete the DXDLL folder OpF won't load, it says missing file or whatever. Even when I turn everything off in the configurator my FPS is still messed up.
