I think he is refering to the DVI connections bravo6. Chances are if its PCI-E it will not have 4pin Molex connections like the sapphire x1950pro agp does. ( wth they decided to put 2 on when most people have pci-e capable psus is another issue. ) << I have one and thats the one thing that annoyed me.

No unless you have a 32" screen or something. The DVi ports can be used with a dvi - vga connection and you only need one connected.

Hi there, If everything seems fine it most probably is. The common problems with the 1950 series of cards is power related. As its PCI-E he will only have one 6 pin connection to make, but you have to make sure that if you used a 4-pin to 6 pin adaptor you connected both 4 pin connections to the power supply. If you just use a standard 6pin from the psu then you will have no issues. The black screen problem you suffered was probably just a Vista quirk. What may have happened is vista tried to load the driver when it was installed but couldnt do it so the screen stayed blank.

all works fine? what about your handle leaks??? also ok?! i doubt! He's got AMD, no handle leak there...What is weird though is that the performance in his opinion seems ok, to me the same card is rubbish...Maybe the buggy driver has such impact? /Abbe It guess it is just what each person perceives as good. These settings on evo 1.5a altho i am not sure what the default VD is in evo. All ATI CCC settings are set to application default. http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2439/armasettingscr3.jpg I get between 14FPS in Towns to around 28FPS in open ground. The low FPS in towns is noticable but im used to it now,

all works fine? what about your handle leaks??? also ok?! i doubt! Last time I looked it never went above 350 or so, havent looked into it since 6.12 tho. Next time I run Arma I'll take a look. Seriously I have a pretty stable game, I did get the odd bit of LOD bug, but that stopped when I set 128Mb arpeture. (I was previously using 256) I can play EVo 1.5a for hours without issue, i did get the odd hard lock when running the 1,05 beta patch but that was due to the gfx being under-powered but with 1.07 its fine. Also giving the GFX card a 400W psu all to itself helped Specs. Have you tried to disable the service to see if it makes any difference ?? Start>>Run>>Services.msc [Enter] Right click on the ATi hotkey poller service >> Properties then change startup type to disabled. I dunno if the ATi Poller is the issue as I dont have any problems here. Ati 7.4 work fine here, on an x1950Pro AGP 512Mb card arpeture at 128Mb

    1.7 beta impressions

I got owned by a Kamov last night on Evo Latest running on our server with version 1.07b. It didnt ffar the hmmwv but used the cannon. I bailed, it came back round and shot me. They actually have a purpose now * loads stingers into hmmwv * I have noticed as mentioned that it seems to be using the HardDisk alot more causing pauses and stutters. Noticed this more on the delivery boy SP mission when your truck hits the town just before the pick up. Other than that I have noticed quite an increase in speed. Being able to run at 1440*900 with Very High HDR, mainly high details, with AA off AF on high, shadows normal. Pretty modest system :- 3500 A64 @ 2.65Ghz 2GB Corsair TwinX (480 DDR) Ati X1950Pro AGP 512MB Audigy Etc..

    Catalyst 7.3 final released

Hi there No handle leak here either. Running a massive battle for about 45 mins and arma.exe handles were around 256. Memory useage seemed pretty low at only 270mb or so. XP64 SP1 A64 3500+ @2.65Ghz 2GB Corsair TwinX ddr400 3x120GB HDDs 2 SATA and 1 IDE Sapphire X1950 Pro AGP 512MB

    aa super slow

Hi carl. You can not use a GFX card that is PCI-e ( pci express ) as your mainboard is only AGP standard. I wouldnt worry too much about 4x or 8x as many newer GFX cards are backward compatible meaing they would fit in a 4x slot. However if you have a 2x Slot then this is a no go. You would kill the card. But I doubt that you have a 2x mobo with you running the 5500. Most of the newer GFX cards are pretty cpu dependant so the faster your processor the better. So it looks like your stuck with AGP, 7600GT is decent, I wouldnt bother with the 6800 card simply because the 7600GT is on par with it and will have a longer shelf life. Ideally a 7800gs card from nvidia or even a x1650 or x1950 pro based card would be fine. But even with these cards you would be hard pushed to run Arma at a decent FPS. It would however run and look about 10x better than it does now.

    Big Lod problems!

Hi there, I also had these issues and found these few steps to help. I have an 6600GT AGP and dont know if there are similar steps for PCI-E. Anyway, setting the nvidia quality setting in the nvidia Control panel to performance helped alot. But the big one for me was AGP Arpeture setting. If you look in the arma config file it has 2 memory entries. Local Vram and non local Vram. Setting my AGP Arpeture in bios changes the non local Vram setting in ArmA.cfg, and it seems to make one helluva difference. No major LOD errors, I get the odd one where the texture seems to take a few seconds to load but thats usually after an ALT-TAB. Maybe something for the AGP users to try. It may or may not work for others, but it seems to be something that people are over looking. My AGP Arp is set to 512MB, and arma doesnt seem to mind one bit. Total ram usage never really hits 1GB so still plenty left. As for PCI-E i have no idea if there is anything remotely similar to the AGP Arpeture so cant help out there. Sorry.
