What about the things that actually happen in the army. Is there a peeling potatoes mini-game? Even though it is a little ironic I don't think that the army should be promoting itself in this way. I doubt that there are any peacekeeping scenarios (e.g. escorting children to school through hostile areas).

Seems a bit like indoctrination, or at the least propaganda. This game is free is it not? The publishers are backed by the Army are they? Hmmmmm.

If I had the money I would go on the flying ones. It is not really the films that he is talking about, as they do take a very long time to make. The scripts would have been written a few years before. Anyway, it's all about spin. Very clever subtleties and aspects to a speech/press release can help bring the public to your cause. Bush's scriptwriters have taken great care to use this opportunity to strengthen Bush's standing. It happened in the Falklands, old Maggie was hailed as a hero even though we damn near lost it. I don't know if you get much spin in your lands but we certainly do in the UK. I thought this weeks Private Eye was very amusing.

I noticed in the papers the Americans are doing quite well with their ABM System. Presumably the ABM Treaty does not apply to them any more. Are any of you worried this could spark another arms race (e.i. with China)? Also, isn't it a big waste of money? The chance of nuclear attack is minimal. Meanwhile the 'intelligence' agencies lack people with the proper language skills. I think they need to get their priorities straight.

What do you want from the modmakers?

lol. They've just bought a load of hippy camper vans and painted over the flowers . -

Perhaps he will make a trip to US Army surplus . Anyway, Bush could never retaliate with nuclear weapons without would wide condemnation. This would probably happen regardless of what was done to them. Would a country which prides itself as being civilised, and is so opposed to these weapons, actually use these weapons of mass destruction? What would he use them against, cities? He would have to go for military installations, using aircraft or cruise missiles. Otherwise the collateral damage would be immense. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">it never hurts to have a shield as well as a sword, well that’s the theory.<span id='postcolor'> Theory indeed. I'm sure this money could be better spent. For example on education, as I believe I read somewhere that a large proportion of high school children think the Sun orbits the Earth.

Is it worth reducing your international credibility and upsetting several nations just for some pet project? It's going to take a lot more money to get the system anywhere near useable. Besides, countries may develop nuclear capabilities, but they will still be just as hesitant to use them. The so called 'axis of evil' are incorrectly branded.

The world would be a very dangerous place if agreements were ignored by successive regimes.
-
I didn't mention Bush. However, he could have honoured the treaty and stopped the programme. I do blame Reagan for starting it, though.
-
If any other country suddenly decided not to follow a certain treaty anymore, all hell would break loose. However, as this is the US they can get away with pretty much anything. Mr 'Poodle' Blair certainly doesn't care. This programme has been going on for years. If the US had no intention of following the treaty, why did they sign?

ooops. It kept on saying connection refused. hmmmm

Not everyone is as informed as you tovarish. Most don't know what policies they are voting for. Labour abolished student grants, for example, who in their right mind would vote for that? Perhaps there should be an 'abstain' option where your disgust for every party is registered. Then you wouldn't get mixed up with the apathetic.

The trouble with democracy is that people think that their vote does not count, and so they stay at home. Thus, the government is elected in by die-hard supporters (mostly). A lot of people feel this is inevitable. I doubt that elections are fought on policies, rather on whether the general public likes the guy who heads the party. What I think should happen is... You go into a specific manifesto reading area. There you read all of the manifestos of the main parties (or at least cut down versions so that you can compare). An official then confirms that you have read the manifestos. Now your vote carries much more weight than others do (by 4 or even 10 times, perhaps). This would encourage people to know what they are voting for. I can't see this happening, though.

Absolutely. Infrastructure and communications have improved to a point where (real) communism is no longer viable.
-
lol. All I say is that democracy should be improved. Please don't send me to Siberia!
-
Look what democracy has given us. In america they have a chimpanzee running them, and here we have a sleazy PM who takes money from Porn dealers.
-
There has to be a better system of government than Democracy, though.
-
Agreed. The Mansell/Senna clashes of the late 80s early 90s were absolutely amazing. Now it's all politics. Ferrari should be banned for their race fixing...
-
I doubt that there are any 'communist' countries that Marx would approve of as being the product of his vision. So democracy just happens to be the best of a bad lot. It would be better if it actually worked. In Britain it is almost a 1 party system because the Lib Dems are a bunch of wet sheep and the Tories have made themselves unelectable. Thus, we are left with a slimy creep who uses spin to keep his position.
