Super low GPU usage on MP only???
Midhaven replied to burdy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I'm running a fairly new pc. Intel i5 3570k, GF GTX 670, 8gb ram and an SSD. Not overclocked. Singleplayer runs perfectly, locked at 60 FPS with everything maxed out. Go into multiplayer (Warfare) I get 45 fps at 1000 view distance (still very much playable), turn it up to 4000 and I get 25fps (playable but far from smooth). GPU and all 4 CPU cores working at 35%. Que? Been reading about this on a lot of forums, not one with any ideas? -
graphics bugs with ATI 4800 series (4850/4870/4890)

Of course you should try the RMA when you notice problems like this with your card. Tho I can't, so I have no choice but to use the fix. If used correctly it realy doesn't make any diffrence, this problem only appears in some games (atleast for me), so just launching those games with RivaTuner is a fairly simple sollution. Doesn't take much extra effort. -

Just managed to fix my Arma2 problems. If you have a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB DDR5 or If you are experiencing problems that look like this.. http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/3262/crashkd2.jpg 1600 x 1200px, 914 kb http://www.chaddavid.com/crash.JPG 1200px x 1.600px, 684 kb Then you can stop worrying, your card ain't broken, just the card's bios, wich can be fixed. The guy in this thread has two sollutions, I used the one without updating my bios and I can confirm it works. http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118448 I don't know how many cards this applies for, but if you are having problems similar to the ones on the pictures, use the workaround sollution. -
Any sollution to this problem yet? I keep geting this as soon as I fly over areas with lots of units. The exact error message: ErrorMessage: Out of memory (requested 965 KB). Reserved 524288 KB. Total free 10818 KB Free blocks 726, Max free size 690 KB I have my video memory set to Normal, my card is 512mb. I use the -maxmem=2048 parameter and I have set my paging file size to 6142mb.

First of all I'm just going to mention I've looked through hundreds of posts and searched several forums without finding any sollution to this problem. So maybe someone here can provide me with one. What happens is when I start the game everything is perfect, FPS stable above 30 even with heavy load. But after playing for a while (sometimes minutes, sometimes hours) the FPS suddenly drops below 20 and gets stuck. Even if I'm in an area where I usually should have 60 fps it's stuck on 20. What does work however is using alt-tab to go out and back in to reload the graphics, that tends to reset the fps to normal. What also works is using the "flush" command. However this brings me to yet another problem, almost every time I try to "reload" the graphics once it gets stuck on low fps I get a CTD with the message "Error: Device freed". Anyone got a sollution to either of these problems?

Wouldn't call it a fix, using the GPU scaling is just another way to play with lower resolution. Won't fix the crashes and fps drops, just give you a few extra fps (on some cards). -

I'm using the 9.10 drivers for my 4850 and I get the low fps drops aswell. Sometimes I can play for hours before it happens, sometimes only a few minutes. Using "flush" or alt-tab to re-load the graphics seems to reset the FPS back to normal but it also crashes about 50% of the time. Tho this dind't happen for me untill the new patch was introduced, so I have no idea what has changed and what I must do to fix it. -

I dunno if it's a bug or a feature but it needs to be changed.. On attack helicopters if the pilot swiches to manual fire before the gunner gets in only he can fire the primary gun, if the gunner fires he will only waste ammo but nothing will get shot from the helicopter. Also, gunners on attack helicopters can't lock on with missiles only with the turret. -
Thanks for all the help.. pogoman979 and Tajin thanks, will try them both..

Sometimes when a player executes a script on the server some actions doesn't update for all the players, I was hoping someone might have an explaination do this. Say I have a trigger set up like this. Condition: Player distance tower < 10 On act.: ID_tower = Player addAction ["Execute script","tower.sqs",(hideOnuse)] On dea.: Player removeAction ID_radiotower Lets say tower.sqs is fairly simple, like this: "towermarker" setMarkerColor "ColorGreen" exit After a player (anyone on the server) executes the script, shouldn't the "towermaker" color update to ColorGreen for everyone on the server? First time I ran a script like this everyone on the server got the update. Now it seems only the player executing the script can see the change and for new players joining "towermarker" is still set to the default color.

Yeah, I have this problem aswell.. Sollution? -
First time I got a CTD I recieved the message: ErrorMessage: Out of memory (requested 999 KB). Reserved 294912 KB. Total free 11001 KB Free blocks 970, Max free size 819 KB I figured it was the same as the previous arma so I added -maxmem 512 to the command line on my shortcut. Then after a few minutes of playing I got another CTD, this time with no message. Checked the windows task manager and it said ArmA2.exe was still running. Turned it off and went to check my arma2.RPT file, there at the bottom I found this: ErrorMessage: Out of memory (requested 232 KB). Reserved 262144 KB. Total free 144 KB Free blocks 17, Max free size 31621 KB So whats the solution if -maxmem doesn't work? Oh, and I have 4gb ram, Vista x64.

I've been thinking, if I buy the german version now. Is it possible to change the language to english or do I need to replace files with those from the english version once it's released? And what about the cd-key, will I be able to use a cd-key from the german version to play on the english version? If thats the case all I have to do is, once the english version is released, borrow my friends copy to install and use the cd-key from the german version.

Last time I bought ArmA off sprocketidea.com, worked pretty smoothly. So I'm wondering if ArmA2 will be availible for digital purchase aswell, and on what sites this time?
