Glass affects the bullet ballistic in ARMA2
Bad Pilot replied to CuteQA's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
House glass, shopfront glass, vehicle glass - I think Arma2 just 'averages' them into one kind of glass used throughout the game. -
I use Right-Ctrl in Arma1 and Arma2... No problem!

Disable USS Khe Sanh
Bad Pilot replied to kiptanoi's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I was also losing enemy helicopters to a mystery fate. I discovered (by moving their spawn to a position over my head) that I'd used Arma1 pilot classnames and therefore the choppers were dropping out of the sky without pilots :D. -
There's two aspects to this: - 1. Infantry/binoculars - is there any way to manually get a "target spotted" message to come from your mouth? 2. Using locking-on rockets and missiles, I press the Reveal Target button as if my life depended on it. So far, 99% I get nothing and 1% I target a friendly. Bear in mind I have the German version and haven't been able to read the manual... Also, I couldn't work any of this out in Arma1, which I played for over 2years...

It's dumb to think you can max out a new game with high fps. Just dumb. I can't believe how many threads have said the same thing. There's a good chance it will get better, as A1 did.

In the game's Control Options, do you have the ability to change controls?
-
My method is to unbind ALL the controls and add them in as I require them. One thing to not neglect is the ability to use double-tap as a bind and also CTRL. Can't remember if Shift and Alt work too. With double tap you do stuff like E for Get Out and double-tap E for Eject. There're loads of related commands that follow that logic. I overload some bindings so one key does multiple tasks e.g. my Numpad 8 does sprinting and vehicle 'turbo'. Don't use Left and Right turn on your joystick.

Have you seen the new task ("objective") commands in use? Check the code here. http://www.ofpec.com/forum/index.php?topic=33468.0 -
Windows 7 RC1 + ARMA2 Online play help
Bad Pilot replied to mithandra's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I also use Win7 RC1 without problems. Maybe there's a clue in your arma.rpt file or your Windows event logs? -
Feature request "Throw <weapon>"
Bad Pilot replied to NoRailgunner's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
It doesn't seem so bad in Arma2. I still haven't got used to being able to run whilst reloading my rifle - it's saved me a couple fo times already. -
My mate runs TripleHead2Go digital with 3x1024x768 monitors, Q6600, 4GB DDR2, GF8800GTS 640MB. Works fine.

I'm Now 100% Onboard With ArmA 2
Bad Pilot replied to XGS Che Guevara's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
The reason I never played OFP is because I thought the name was rubbish. Truth. And I'm normally considered quite a smart guy :D -
fun thread! I'm sure DR will be a fun game but here's my story Wolfenstein 3D Doom Doom 2 Quake Quake 2 Medal of Honor Call of Duty Battlefield 1942 Battlefield Vietnam Battlefield 2 Battlefield 2142 ArmA <-- at which point I thought, "wtf have I been doing all this time when i could have been playing Operation Flashpoint??? :( ArmA2 It's so vast in scope I don't know where to begin. Playing PvP (50 players!) it reminded me of Call of Duty with the lush graphics and Battlefield with the teamwork but it's just mindblowing all the extra dimensions - everything is simulated and doesn't feel like props in a Hollywood film set, the 'map' (we call them mission because there is only one map and that is the entire country) just goes on forever, and it's gorgeous all the way. When I started playing Arma, I rebuilt my main computer just to play Arma. Now, my upgraded machine is my Arma2 machine. It doesn't do anything else. I don't need anything else. Get the demo next week. Don't panic when you see all the controls because you don't need them until you get deeper into it.

The AI in arma2 are gritty, evil bastards.

Option for Plane / Helicopter steering
Bad Pilot replied to Hekktor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
The secret to flying is to ignore the Left/Right Turn controls. I unbind them to nothing. You can't get more arcadey flight than Arma/A2. Still feels good tho :) -

How to plus hitpoints by radio?

Damage goes from 0 to 1. There is a way to make yourself immortal (useful for debugging) but I can't remember what it is. -

Alt-E gives a new editor??? -
Twice I've seen 'celebratory' TK fests at the end of long respawn missions. This is a normal reaction to crawling around for 2 hours, dying 8 times and firing 3 bullets ;).

It is entirely normal for night to be so dark that you cannot see your own hand in front of your face. In fact, I once read a Hagar the Horrible strip cartoon in which Hagar was stumbling around his cave in the dark, complaining about the lack of light. His friend, sat nearby in the darkness, said "Tell me about it, I've lit six fires already and I still can't see anything". Hagar whistles and says "Wow, that's REALLY dark! ---------- Post added at 04:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:14 PM ---------- It is entirely normal for night to be so dark that you cannot see your own hand in front of your face. It's meant to be here but I just didn't proof-read it. The guy seems to expect to spin around and zap anything in the centre-screen cross-hairs.
-
There's no X in the centre of your screen where bullets go because. Your arms move, your head moves, the gun moves. You cannot therefore run around like an aimbot in railgun mode. Accuracy comes from stillness. You even have to press the "hold breath" button to score a hit. PS the radio could sound like daffy duck for all I care :)
