Hi, I had to re-install arma recently but I'm having trouble patching it. I havent had this problem before but now when I launch the game it errors with the securecom, insert cd-rom box The game works fine without the patcher but obviously...its in german which makes life a bit difficult, altho I am learning lol I installed: 1.01 1.02 1.02 germ to eng patch 1.05 1.05 - 1.08 Any ideas? - I have tried that hotfix but it didn't work :/ And it takes almost an hour to re-install this game and Ive don't it like 4 times so I'm a bit over it now
-
Ay cool tanx!
-
My one doesnt Where is the option like more or less? - Baring in mind of course that I have no idea what the words in there mean... Tx

I've got a small problem...I had to re-install but I cant remember exactly what order I did it I have the German version and I used to English patch but now when I try, the securocom software pops up and tells me that i the disk isn't inserted. But when I dont use the English patch the game starts fine. I tried that hotfix but it didn't work. And I have re-installed countless times. I installed 1.01, then 1.02 then 1.02 german to english patch, then 1.05, then 1.05 - 1.08 I guess I'm gonna have to learn German for the time being lol

Hi, There is already some life apart from humans in ArmA and seagulls and stuff lol but I really think it would be cool (For realism ) if a script could maybe be introduced to include startled birds flying away from a loud explosion or nearby people, sorry for the swear word but…like in BF2. I thought that was great the first time I saw it, would be cool if it could be introduced here. Imagine you hear a distant sniper shot shattering the silence and don’t know where it came from, but just as you hear it you see a flock of birds take off from the vicinity of the shot…Same goes for travelling through open spaces, if you are a sniper looking for targets and suddenly you see a flock take off, you would then look in that direction… Wot you fink?
-
Why is it when we try improve on something the first thing people say it, "play another game" I was asking about the feasibility of it being introduced into this game because I used to play Americas Army alot and now ArmA is the only game I play. The tracers and ragdoll effects in AA are really good and is why I asked the previous questions. Fine, if the engine cant handle it then its end of story... But imagine a year from now, with addons being released daily and patches tweaking little things here and there... Eventually this game will turn into a masterpiece and very well rounded fps.

It does, if a small number of models "die" at the same time. AA is a tiny game compared to Arma. Launch the editor and make a 50 vs 50 a.i. infantry battle with some waypoints, now imagine if it had ragdolls.. ofcourse there is always a way, they could make it not work if more than 5 models die at the same time but then it would look silly and still add nothing to the game. I rather imagine BIS working on the a.i, damage model and much better/realistic vehicle and weapon simulations . O I see. But I really cant wait for maps to shift away from using AI PvP FTW! Totally agree with the damage model. In quakewars, whichever part of the vehicle is hit and by what will get damaged and/or fall off. I saw this vid where a dude shot out the tyre and the vehicle flipped and skidded down the road on 3 wheels. The armor hit points are quite good but the hummers need work imo

Yeah I know, I was just thinking the same thing. But bloody good idea! I bet if there was wildlife half the time peeps would have try very hard to contain themselves NOT to shoot cows and other random animals in the area on the way to battle... A real test of how many noobs you have on your side...to see an animal and not to shoot it giving your whole squads pos away. Birds have been tipping off enemy positions since ancient times. Roman historian Livy writes of the Gaulish attack on Rome in 390 BCE: "So silent had their movements been that not only were they unnoticed by the sentinels, but they did not even wake the dogs, an animal peculiarly sensitive to nocturnal sounds. But they did not escape the notice of the geese...[who made such a bloody row that they alerted the Roman guards who then proceeded to give Asterix and his pals a right old Roman shoeing...]" I do recall seeing a promise that that sort of feature would be included - maybe in "Game 2" (if that ever comes out)? I know what the author is talking about. My sister had a gaggle on her farm. Sheesh those birds were rude. Made a hell of a noise and ran after you biting with their evil little beaks.

Does it really chew that much more cpu power? - Is this something that can happen but wont? - Or is everyone just speculating? The rag doll effect on Americas Army is really good, personally I think it adds alot to the game. Games have come a long way and to have a different effect depending where you hit the guy is great, and not uncommon
-
LoL! Do I smell a new mod? - Hitchcock mod Except, the birds should be able to "bomb" aswell! Go for the eyes! Um, back on subject...Thats cool, I hope they do bring it in future. I really think it would add a new dynamic. I remember reading an article from an army sniper in Iraq who currently has the most confirmed kills. One of them was from a flock of birds quickly taking flight. When he looked down, he saw an insurgent walking half crouched along a wall with an AK. Im sure you can guess what happened next...

Probably. Thats what you need to do, you need the empty mags to reload later (in RL). You do that in real life, because in real life you also get 5.56mm rounds in ammo boxes and have to load your magazines yourself. In the game, however, you go to an ammobox (or a body) and pick up new magazines. Therefore, you should just eject the old magazine and jam in a new one. Exactly...there is no ammo box. Only odd-numbered close to empty used mags. So until there is an ammo box the only reason to keep those extra mags would be say, if you have been on a long mission and only have like 4 bullets left in a used mag then sure, good thing I saved em. But, maybe there should be an option to choose to drop or keep the mag each with time/space benefits. In my previous post I mentioned the dump bag. Which would make sense if keeping mags for later but personally I hate having to shoot of the last couple rounds to get a full clip. If you press reload again then it just reloads the same clip instead of a different one...maybe thats something that could change? I totally agree that running while reloading not very tactical but like said previously, you should at least have the option and a choice to run away if compromised. But if it is a game limitation and not a dev choice then thats different... I personally like the reload on that game called Black. Your peripheral view blurs and you can only focus on the mag going into the gun and cant really see your surroundings, first Ive seen in an fps. very realistic
-
Valid point! Exactly what is the soldier doing? Keeping spent mags and putting them back into the vest? It would be fine if the character was spec-ops for example and has a dumpbag, otherwise it'd take longer to reload. Would be cool if the soldier could just drop the spent mag and reach for a fresh one. I often shoot off a few rounds when RTB in Evo for example to clear odd-numbered mags...it really should just be dropped on the floor as an option. And back on topic lol. Where do I vote? - Its bites that if you are compromised when reloading you can't run quickly to evade. Is it a physical limitation or does it just need to be animated? The binoculars thing sux too.
-
Just a thought... It takes long for the animation to put the rifle on your back when changing weapons or climbing a ladder for example. If I was in the armed forces I would definitely use a 3-point sling because you can literally drop your gun and whip out the sidearm or basically free up both hands in an instant...as opposed to putting the rifle on your shoulder/back.... Sloooow Wouldnt you guys prefer something a bit quicker? - Not too mention how cool 3 points slings look lol
-
Great point! Only thing you can do is change to the sidearm to shoot lefty from cover. So...maybe the thread title should change to 1 point sling instead of 3? Either way, I hate the bloody length of time it takes to do an action that is sluggish and unnecessary.

HI, I've noticed that the AI MG guys (And others for that matter) only shoot when they have a target...Which isn't such a bad idea except suppressive fire is one of the biggest tactics used in warfare. Would be cool if the AI tries to pin you down at a position or behind a wall/hill while they flank. (Even if they dont actually have a shot, they should just pwn the area in which they "think" you are. Also, would be cool if the AI got scared if you try suppress them. As opposed to going prone and staring at you...I get very nervous when someone shoots at me when I'm trying to shoot them! And I like trying to stay alive but if theres more bullets flying in my direction than theirs, then I would often duck for cover...
-
Yeah, especially when you change to it by mistake lol and are in a rush. Obviously you cant move when you're doing an action for some reason(Concentrating?) and are a sitting duck. Yes, I know...you should always change mags or weapons behind cover but if you're compromised in this game then your stuck like a deer in headlights. Plus, it would be cool if when changing to the sidearm; the character would just drop his rifle (Its is on his chest snug) and immediately reach for the 9mm in one movement. Drop, reach and aim. Should take about 2 seconds to complete imo. Could save your life one day

Just happened to release new version of it My sig now has the link to that thread... Nice1 dude! Good idea lol Downloading as I type
-
Respek* Straight from the horses mouth Whats that clip/sling called? I was trying to explain that in my previous post lol That would definitely be more ideal. In your opinion as a soldier, how do feel about putting the rifle on "your" back when doing actions? Also, it kind of sux the way you cant walk when reloading or using binos...might have to make another thread lol
-
The current state of the art in tactical slings is the blue force gear Vickers Tactical adjustible two point sling. Thats what I run on my rifles. Three point slings are a mess and tangle in everything. Single point slings are great for transitions if worn for only a short time but wear you out. Theres also that other little clip/sling strap type thing which is only about 3 inches long and clips onto your shoulder on the tacvest. That one is pretty cool too
-
The best thing about the 3 point sling is that the rifle is tight on your chest at all times. There is a little clip which when depressed drops the rifle along side your right hip and under your armpit. When depressed, the rifle is loose and you can move it around as you please and go prone I will post pics tomorrow
-
But the thing is, the player model does do it... Crouched on one knee looking at the target with the M136 perched on the right shoulder. Then if you press "b" he takes out the binos with his left hand then puts it back again... And instead of putting his left hand back on the launcher, he puts the launcher away and takes out the rifle...without instruction If he can take it out and use it in AT mode, why not be able to put it back again and carry on from the previous pose? My point is, I have often seen a distant target next to a tree or building for example in scoped mode but with the iron sight at distance, the target is a bit difficult to see correctly. Hence the need to confirm with the binos, one last look. AND then he switches to the rifle which I would then have to switch BACK to the AT launcher which I had originally!
-
Exactly!!!!! http://img248.imageshack.us/my.php?image=3pvy8.jpg Also, have you noticed that if you have your AT out and switch to binos and switch back to AT, the character actually puts the binos AND the AT away and switches to the rifle :/ Um, maybe thats another thread lol
-
But would you use it if you had NV? I sure wouldn't Maybe for signaling I guess? Or mores code
-
Hi, I often change between single round and 3 round burst ingame but then have to go through grenade, m203, something else, then single round... Cant there just be one key to switch the 2 without cycling through everything??
-
Tx guyz, I will also vote on that bugtracker as soon as I time to register lol. How many votes are needed before something is actioned?
