  1. After releasing my darker ironsights people wanted the entire rifle to be darker, so here it is. This addon replaces BIS's textures with darker ones on the M16/M4 family rifles. The magazines are also a little bit darker. There are a few issues, it would be greatly appreciated if some one knew how to fix these. The textures aren't replaced for the M16A4_ACG_GL when using the replacement, but you can access it using MLK_M16A4_ACG_GL The gas blow back tube under the front sight has disappeared on some of the M4s.   2. I'm converting some OFP buildings to ArmA and trying to save computer resources by merging OFPs patch work textures into one file. However, I've run into a few problems a need some help sorting them out. 1. After merging the textures the object becomes semi-transparent. You can see the horizon line behind the object in this pic. Click for pic 2. The textures do not go right to the edges of the object and leave a visible gap. This can be seen in the picture above. 3. The unmerged textures would tile over the face of the object, but once merged it would apply one stretched texture over the face. 4. In game the muzzle flash would cut holes in the texture.     Problems with Merging Textures

    I've added RVMATs, normals, and speculars, and that fixed the transparency issue. However, I still have the stretched texture, and muzzle flash problems. Any suggestions on how to fix these? Is the muzzle flash thing an LOD issue? and can the stretched textures be fixed by UV editing?

    who else or is it just me ? i am using the first release files, which just change the ironsights. regards rocko Probably because youre running it with my ironsight addon. Use one or the other, not both at the same time. And I won't make the pointy post sight because thats not how it is in real life.

  6. I was bored, and kind of let down by BIS' ironsights on the m16 and m4 rifles, I would have to strain my eyes to see them. So I decided to try retexturing them so I can see them easier. I just added a little spray to the front post area so it kind of looks like some one sprayed it with that sight black stuff. This comes with a replacement mod so you can play with them online without having to add them to missions. Install it just like any other addon. Heres a list of the altered rifles. M16A2 M16A2 with grenade launcher M16A4 M16A4 with grenade launcher M4 M4A1 The M4s dont have the blackened triangular section, but they do have a darker post. (I'm not sure why it does that).     Thanks, for the mirrors. I've been working on the darker rifles and have a few pics of them to show off. The M16s are nearly finished, but the M4's are acting weird, they still look good none the less. Almost the whole collection Compared to the originals M16A2s M16A4s with ACOGs M4s And no, the front post doesn't go to a point.

    I think average joe gets these "white puffs" from Band of Brothers. For example the first guy shot in this clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52Jd9LS-nyc I don't know how realistic these "white puffs" could be as in ive never seen anyone get shot in realife. If you look at Battlefield 2 they have those non-red puffs for visaulization of hits and i believe the community refers to them as "Sandbag Soldiers." I don't care what kind of puffs Armed Assault has, although it would be nice to see a soldier react as to where he was hit like DaSqaude mentioned.

    I agree, I believe a good amount of time to hold your breath would be 7-12 seconds. After that amount of time your vision gets blurry because of the lack of oxygen to your eyes. Also your muscles would tire so your aim would shake a bit. Once you release your breath I don't want to see and hear my guy panting like a dog and my view shaking up and down violently. I would want a nice long release and a huge breath in which would just do one big down and up movement not twenty. As for the front and rear sights lining up at the touch of a button is silly. If you're in the armed forces getting a good sight picture is automatic because the brain is used to seeing it. The only time I would think the front post and rear aperture would move independently is when walking, recoil after releasing a breath, and maybe standing. But they could easily line up after stopping and regaining breath. That's just my opinion.

    Well, its more important to line up the front and rear sight then it is to line up the front sight and the target. It could mean the bullet is off by just a few inches or a couple of feet. My rifle coach, who is also a physics teacher, showed me how sight alignment is critical in shooting by using math. He used a pistol for an example at 50 feet. 6 inches long and if the sights were off 1/4 an inch the bullet would go 4 or so inches from the center rather than a couple centimeters if the front sights and the target were off. Anyway focusing on the front sight is the great medium of the three focus points. You want to have the front sight be sharp and clear with the rear sight and target blurred. And the front sight doesn't matter if its a post or aperature(circular hole). I was shooting with small bore and high power and both were told to focus on the front sight.

    I'm hoping that the sight picture is changed so you don't have to cut the target in half. It is a pain to shoot at a target the size of a pixel and you have to aim a bit over it to compensate for the longer distance. By doing that you can't see the target. The change to the sight is to make it so you put the target on top of the post instead of cutting the target in half with the post, Lolli Pop style. This is a better sight picture and the US military uses it. I know BF2 does this for the M16. -Milkduster

    Yeah, the mods are the only reason why its still on my system. BFpirates looks sweet. I played like 500 hours of bf2. Then when they started with the booster packs i said forget this and so i did.

    Speaking of shrapnel, it would be cool to have tree bursts. It could be possible I suppose with that new material penatration. If a grenade or artillery shell hits a certain material the intenisity of the blast could be more or less amplified. Then again the graphical appearance might not be appealing. Like haveing the trees split like they do in Crysis would be out of the question. So thats just a thought... -Milkduster

    Yeah, I come from the Battlefield series, too. However, I've loved Operation Flashpoint since I got the demo in a PCGamer. I bought the expansions and enjoyed them. I didnt realize the magnitude of multiplayer up until and 2 months ago. But when I went to reinstall OFP again after reformating my harddrive I found out that my resistance disk was scratched to hell But I just bought the GOTY version and currently anticipating its arrival to my house. Ive decided to leave the battlefield series because of EA's and Dice's money greeding ways. Also, I find it a bit boring when playing without some clan buddies. (Who I'm trying to get to play) Hope to play with you guys in OFP and ArmA. -Milkduster

    How about a shovel? Just beat him down with one. /sarcasm Its easier just to shoot the guy, rather than knifing him. Sure there is no fun to it, but u could always hump their body after. There is no other point to having a knife in ArmA unless BIS makes objects to cut... other than peoples' throats. If you want to make a mod or addon with a knife be my guest. Its just too arcade-like for ArmA, IMO -Milkduster

    Black Ops in ArmA?

    Hi, I'm new to these forums, but i have been playing ofp on and off since it came out. And after playing the CWC campaign again, and going through the black op missions. I am wondering about Black Ops being implemented into Armed Assault. I am kind of on the fence for having them, such as thinking were they really neccessary? But then thinking that they were their to break up a repetativeness in the campaign.(not saying there was) Then there were the tank commanding and pilot missions to do that if needed. How do you people feel about the black ops? Did you like the style that the were used in? Like being prone would make u almost completely invisible to the AI. That was kind of wierd to me. Do you want them in ArmA? If so, would you want them changed? Just curious. -Milkduster

    I agree with you, I would enjoy the black op/commando unit and mission style as either a submission or single mission. This is probably because i dont think many people liked them, but thats my unsupported opinion. I found the missions to be kind of time consuming. It broke up the engine into different styles to allow the mission/addon makers what could be done. I would also like to see what camo they give the black op and sniper. A better looking ghillie suit would be nice. maybe u could chose the camo for the unit depending on where the area of operation is and what time of day. -Milkduster
