Hi sorry have searched but cant find a mission I saw on here before that was something about a battalion level mission. It used some sort of command interface. I want to download this badly but I cant find it anywhere. Please help me thanks in advance.

Its the mouse floating zone setting that causes this. The floating zone feels and is perceived by the gamer as lag or mouse lag. I wish someone would make an official thread about this. I have said it before and I will say it again turn the floating zone completely down (all the way to the left) and watch your aiming get alot better.

The adjust he made is in arma in the conrols for the mouse and its called floating zone. It is not a video card adjustment. I have said this before and I will say it again everyone needs to try to adjust the floating zone and find a setting they like It is being perceived by the casual gamer as lag or mouse lag and all along its the way the game handles the mouse input. It makes it hard for some to aim. When set all the way down your character in game will perform like it does in all other first person shooters. There are post about players even clan members giving up on arma because it felt wierd. All along it was the floating zone for the mouse. It was even stated in that thread that BIS should make this setting easier to find. People see a floating zone setting and have no idea what its for. It was even suggested they turn it down before the US release. Reason being is when its turned down your character now will move just like a character from call of duty, americas army, battlfield, counter strike, etc. This one setting makes this game feel different to new people who arent old school OFPers. Also so you know I have played operation flashpoint before its release. I played the demo over and over. Just that one mission. Then I had the Euro release. Then I bought the US release when it came out here in the states. So yes I am old school.

I was in the TN 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment. we did not have it either. But if you visit VBS website or at wikipedia you can see the list of customers and the National Guard is one of them doesnt say which state is using it. Direct your command to the wikipedia or the vbs website for a list of customers. Wikipedia on VBS1

Wait one week for the US version. US guys like me with a foreign version are gonna have to wait several weeks probably before we even get a patch to bring us up to the same version. BTW, about VBS2 and the Army. We got it but its only for the elite US Army National Guards troops. Dont know why the Guard has it and the regulars dont?

I have noticed the max speed does seem less with the gear down which is realistic. I once did try to fly as fast as I could with an undamaged gear to see if it would damage it as Op4 BuhBye correctly stated should happen when flying to fast with it down. I then tryed to retract it and it worked so it seems the only way to damage it is a hard landing.

I did not notice the floating zone setting until I used my german CD key to load the UK version my cousin bought. I did this so I could play the new UK version 1.04 while all the CZ and german version were still stuck at 1.03. I never noticed the setting for the floating zone before that. Maybe thats because I speak english and had been playing the german version so I guess I just overlooked it. I will say again that I like the floating zone myself...just not too high. I am an OFP'er since the demo I got in my PC gamer magazine before the game was even releases. So I am major OFP old school veteran. But the problem I see is the new people, who never played this series before. No other FPS game on the planet handles the mouse control like this game. So the newcomers coming from CS, BF, JO, etc., etc. have no idea WTF is going on. They think the game is bugged. So either they dont buy it or if they already bought it they stop playing it. Dont you see that the mouse floating zone is misunderstood by them as either lag or a bug. Read all the complaints on this forum. I believe a good number can be attributed to this floating zone setting. So then these players give up, it hurts game sales and it hurts all of our multiplayer experinces when they arent on the servers to play with us because they gave up on what they thought was lag or a bug. Now as another person already said (he obviously understands what im saying) that BIS could by default leave it off or very low so the new users (not the vets like us) wont leave the game alone for the above mentioned reasons. Heck if BIS just renamed the setting to Mouse floating zone or something than maybe more people would find the setting and have a good Arma experince (just like the thread starter who found the setting with our help). I am only stating any of this so that the newcomers will stay with us and enjoy this wonderful game called Arma!

I believe its a feature. Only has happened to me after a hard landing. But what I dont understand is that repairing still does not fix it even though it fixes everything else on the jet.

BIS better read this and take notice. Alot of the complaints about lag and other user problems are related to the floating zone on the mouse. The original verison (I own German version) 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, etc did not even have a setting for the floating zone to adjust. When the UK version released it finally had he option. I just wish people and BIS would realise that this setting makes this game feel different for most people. They cant quite figure out what wrong but the game just feels funny to them. I myself like a little bit of the floating zone but not as much as the default BIS setting is. If they would just lower the default setting more people wouldnt just give up on arma. When they see/feel this mouse lag, they either think it their computer is lagging(hardware), or they think the game is just wacked. I have played OFP since 2001 and the floating zone in that game was not as bad as Arma. Add in that alot of peoples pc's arent up to spec's and the floating zone and it makes the players feel like there is something wrong. BIS PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS AND LOWER THE DEFAULT SETTING FOR THE US RELEASE(DEMO WOULD HELP TOO) OR YOU WILL LOSE ALOT OF POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS WHO THINK THIS GAME IS SCREWED

I live in the US and have been playing Arma since V1.0 german. I love it! I saw this preview in the US PC gamer a couple of weeks ago. I too was suprised at the preview. It was very good for Arma sales here in the US. And where do more games sell than anywhere else in the world??? The USA!! So this will be good for us when all the rest of my american gamers finally get their hands on Arma. Imagine the number of multiplayer servers and players that will flood Arma's battlefield when this hits the stores. I just hope as mentioned the actual review is as nice as this preview.

Tried the beta last night after work. Loved it. I love the new viewdistance, 10,000 seems to much for my PC but 7,000 is about perfect. Love that I dont have to save one last bit of ammo to rearm vehicles. Im at work now and didnt get to test it yet, but did they fix the optic zoom on vehicles such as the tank commander, TOW, etc?? Other than that I am really loving the fixes. I imagine the US release will be at a very playable level compared to what it was with the original german version etc. BTW, I am in US and I preorder the german version. But I never complained one bit because I knew damn well I could of waited for the US version and all its fixes, but I wanted this game ASAP!

Anyone know if BIS is still thinking of redoing the OFP Cold War Crisis campaign for Arma. That would be the ultimate. To replay the old campaigns but with Arma's beautiful graphics!!!

It's stupid for you to say something asinine like "tell me there are no armies using the BDU im waiting!!" That's ridiculous, nobody was talking about any other force so why even bring that into the equation? How does "US should wear BDUs" equal "Croatia has BDUs!"? It was a stupid thing for you to say because it wasn't meant as anything other than some kind of flame bait. Yeah, I know there are other armies, I've served along side British, Polish, Hungarian, and South Koreans to name just a few. I'm glad, then there should be no need of this thread, right? I appreciate this a lot, and I appreciate anyone who supports this game, but your argument for US Soldiers to being wearing BDUs is wrong. What about the officer on the US side he cleary is wearing a Marine style utility hat. I have even seen this brought up before about how the officer wears a US Marine style uniform with the ACU camo. There is a breakdown somewhere showing the exact units ingame for the US. They are made up of US Army, US Army National Guard, and US Marine units. So its all confusing. As someone once stated they probably did this so no militay branches would just use Arma and stop buying VBS. Supposedly the units ingame represent some of VBS's actually customers. I say that since we officially know there is a mix of soldiers, that they add in an upcoming release some US Marine Infantry units with MARPAT. It really shouldnt change a thing. I must admit that when I play as the SLA the US troops might as well be wearing white snow camo cause thats how it looks to me. The only Marines in the game are some pilots and apparently the officer.

I cant believe this is the only guy who said this in the whole thread. Since BIS says the US troops on Sahrani are officially USMC and US ARMY trooops. And Marines are having to wear and ACU which doesnt happen in real life. Marines wear MARPAT. And guess what they got desert and woodland version of digital camo instead of the one-for-all digi camo ACU. Check out these pics of MARPAT. Woodland MARPAT Desert MARPAT

This has been updated to mission version 1.4 for Arma 1.05. Here are the changes: 1)Moved US spawn a little further inland. After moving spawns to prevent spawn rape, some people were spawning and having to swim for about 3-5 seconds to land. This has been fixed. 2)Removed some objects for optimization. Such as the remote bases with extra vehicles. Reason:vehicles were rarely used and were just causing unneccasary load on the servers. 3)Removed RACS littlebird helos from SLA base. US forces where seeing them as friendly even with an SLA enemy flying them. 4)Added an extra KA-50 Kamov to make up for both lost littlebirds. 5)Removed one of the SLA camel's and replaced with SU-34. 6)Removed some smaller boats from US port and added another 2 turret RHIB. 7)Removed one of the US M113, Vulcan, second styker with grenade launcher and added an M1A1. 8)Removed 3 4x4 offroads from SLA base and added 3 TT650 motorcycles in their place. 9)Removed 4 RACS 4x4 from US base and added 4 USMC motorcycles. 10)Optimized for Arma v1.05. @ d3dsh33p, Almost any CTF can have spawn rape, especially ones with vehicles. Whoever you were playing against must not of been too smart. The US spawns near all the tanks in a protected area below a hillcrest by the sea. It is impossible for either the SLA or US to see each others spawns from each sides main base. So those US players could have jumped in a M1A1, Stryker, M113, or Vulcan at the US spawn and took you out. You can see each others bases from the very edges of each base, but you cannot see each others spawns, just the edges of each others base. I limited the viewdistance just enough so that snipers could use the towers at each base and be able to snipe the outer edges of the enemy base, but they cannot see the entire base, just the edges. I have tested this on my dedicated server (3 Amigos USA Dedicated) and it seems BIS has finally fixed the water CTD bug in v1.05. Havent had a single CTD that was plaguing my mission and other missions that are near the sea. The download link has been updated accordingly. -

Hi, I currently have a very high rank in BF2 and have been playing for quite some time. I like Arma better. But if I want a quick nonstop killfest than I play BF2 or CSS. What is better about Arma. Realism. Weapons loadout are realistic on jets, helos, and tanks. The weapon loadouts are not realistic on vehicles in BF2. Damage done by weapons is realisic in arma. Map is huge it takes a few hours to walk across the Arma map. The maps are way too small on BF2 for vehicles (much less infantry) The maps are so small in BF2 that tactics really are limited. I hate the stupid UAV and the satellite scan in BF. Basically you will find everything thats in BF in Arma but it will be better because its realistic. The only reason I play BF is when I want to be in a killfest where I can rape the other team in my helo, jet, or tank. Just for quickfun. But Arma is my baby.

Hi can someone please help me out I am having a problem on my CTF map Airfield Assault. I am currently using a respawn script by Doolittle and the problem I am having is vehicles dont respawn exactly where they were placed. They respawn within usually 5-20 meters and quite often not facing the same direction as they were originally place either. Whats wrong? Is there a problem with this script or something else? Thanks for your help in advance, Mogley

Thanks, but I already read those. The problem isnt I dont know how to set up respawn or need a script. I do and I already have the doolittle script in my mission. The problem is that they are respawning not in the exact location they were placed but nearby. I needed help fixing that. But thanks for the help.

Some new information here about this this mission. I am working on v1.3 since the v1.05 arma patch is now out and I wanted to make some fixes, improvements, and add some of the new vehicles from patch v1.05. Now I need some help please. 1) I am having a problem with vehicles not respawning at their exact location they were placed. They spawn nearby within about 15 meters but not exactly where the were placed. I am using the vehicle respawn template by Doolittle. 2) Any input for bugs, requests, etc is appreciated. Dear Bohemia Interactive Studios: I think you have done a very good job in customer support for this game Armed Assault. I am an original OFP'er since the days of the demo for OFP. I bought the game as soon as it was released. I have been gaming on the PC since the day of duke nukem, wolfenstein 3d, chuck yeagers air combat, etc. I play all current games too such as the BF2 series, counter strike source, etc. I must admit I have never played a game the gave me the feelings that the OFP series gave me. It has not been surpassed by any other game. When I tell other gamers about the OFP series my face lights up as I tell them about the best game ever made. So now that you know that I love your game, I really see better customer support from BIS than any other game studio. The presence on the forums from BIS and the buglist and such just shows your dedication to your game. Please dont let the negative comments make you feel overwelmed. Many love this game and the ones who love it dont have the time to post about it because they are too busy playing. The latest patch has addressed so many issues and when I first loaded the patch and started playing I was so pleased with BIS and what they have accomplished in so little time. The patch is excellent and soon the game will be ready for the US release. I cant wait for the next patches. I am aware that some new bugs have been introduced with the new patch, but the same can be said for BF2 and other MAJOR popular games. Its the nature of the beast. But where BIS shines is that they listen to the community and work with them to improve the game. Thanks BIS. Now all bow down the the king of all military style games BIS and the OFP and ArmA series!!

I have both the German Morphicon release and my cousin has the UK 505 release. I live in the US so I want english. Heres what I did before the 1.05 patch came out. I took my cousins 505 version (so that I could go up to 1.04 for a few weeks before the patch) and installed from his disk using my german key code. Worked just fine. So I start the game and the splash screen, all menus, and multiplayer are in german. But the campaign is now in english. So what we figured out is this, language is defined by the CD key itself. Campaign cutscenes are programmed to each CD according to the country it was produced. So no matter what the reporters and such in the cutscenes are going to be speaking whatever language was programmed on the install disk. So it seems that even now 1.05 will let you select a languge, that will just be for the menus and stuff. The campaign will always be whatever the cutscenes were on your install disk.
