It looks encrypted but maybe it will work... Thanks!

I just bought an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ and motherboard recently and am going to re format after I put them in. The problem I have is I have lost my Flashpoint and Resistance manuals! I still have the boxes, CD's and both games installed. Is there a file where the CD Key is stored that I can just save to a disk and put back in later? Or would that not even work because it asks you for the Key during installation? Any ideas?

I agree. Wait for more mature chipsets, and Socket 939. Just make sure to save up

OK, done. 202x10 (2020MHz) = 1479 166x12.5 (2076MHz) = 1413 235x8.5 (2000MHz) = 1520 Same memory timings and video card settings. This seems to prove that at least in these tests, FSB/memory bandwidth is important. This also explains why the Athlon 64 did so well. The Athlon 64 has an integreted memory controller to reduce memory latencies and free up FSB bandwidth for other purposes. The "FSB" is also really non-existant on an Athlon 64. They use "HyperTransport" instead. Simply put, I want an Athlon 64 . And this was the standard Athlon 64, not the FX version. The FX version uses dual channel memory, doubling memory bandwidth. Read about HyperTransport here is you wish: http://www.amd.com/us-en....00.html

I replaced the flashpoint.cfg file. I know it's doing it's job to because the resolution is lower than my standard (1152x864). I'll try 166x12.5 and 235x8.5 sometime soon. I unfortunatly lack a 9 multiplier. My Barton also doesn't like 2200MHz+ 202 is my standard setting. 235 is my extreme setting. Don't belive me? That's as high I can go with my memory in sync (1:1). Motherboard and chipset are very important when trying to get a high FSB. RAM that can run synced with it is also desirable. My RAM is only rated to run at 166MHZ. It's Corsair XMS though, so it overclocks quite well (235MHz!). As for the proper chipset, an nforce2 (for Athlon XP) is the best for overclocking. It locks the AGP/PCI bus at 66/33MHz respectivly to prevent instability. The newer versions (nforce 2 400, nforce 2 Ultra 400) are guarnteed to run at 200MHz FSB. And a good overclocking motherboard, such as my Epox 8RDA3+, is desirable. http://www.newegg.com/app....&depa=1

Doesn't really prove much though. Maybe it just likes the FSB?

Athlon XP 2500+ (202 x 10) 2020MHz Geforce 3 175/400 512MB "PC2700" 1479 I'll see what happens when I overclock my video card. Athlon XP 2500+ (202 x 10) 2020MHz Geforce 3 220/505 512MB "PC2700" 1649

New & serious performance-troubles with resistance

After doing some testing I have to take back what I said.  Although that is usually the case it is not here.  I ran a few missions and got average framrates using Fraps.  My brother's PC got about 6-10 more fps. His computer: nforce2 512MB PC2700 Athlon XP 2600+ Integreted Geforce 4 MX Ans mine: KT333 512MB PC2700 (only at 2100 though) Athlon XP 2000+ Geforce 3 Ti200 Then I tested OFP with my video card stock and overclocked.  I got about 1-2 extra fps with it overclocked. Stock: 175/400 Overclocked: 220/500 Anyway I figured that the islands literally ate the video memory  .  Do you happen to know if OFP likes L2?  I'm thinking about getting a 2500+ Barton and overclocking it. -

Make sure you know what you need before you buy.  A 3GHz CPU is useless when paired with a Geforce 2.  Likewise a Radeon 9700 is useless when paired with a 700Mhz CPU. To whoever bought the Athlon XP 2400+ : Unfortunatly the Geforce 3 is going to hold you back quite a bit.  I would know because I have the same problem (Geofrce 3 and an Athlon XP 2000+).  I want to get an Athlon XP 2500+, but I know it wouldn't to very much for me.  So I'm saving up for a Radeon 9700 .  However you should notice a significant improvement when using a lot of AI or physics. If you are the only one on an island and it's still slow, it's probably not a CPU problem, but a video card problem.  OFP has very large and detailed islands, and when you fill up the islands with tanks, choppers, etc, you really need a powerful video card.  IMO, you OFP:R should be quite playable using something around these specs: CPU around 1.5 GHz  (1GHz if using an Athlon / PIII) 512MB DDR SDRAM Geforce 3/Radeon 8500LE or better If you decide to get a video card, try to get one with 128MB of RAM on it. -
JAP, I have the same problem.  It only crashes in Jeeps, Urals, Trucks, etc.  I'm not sure if it will only crash in 3rd person though.  Tanks, APCs, planes, and choppers all seem fine though.  There have been a few times when it's crashed when I'm on foot, but very rarely.  I sent an email to support but still haven't gotten a response. Epox 8K5A2+  (Via KT333 chipset) Audigy      (maybe that's our problem?) Geforce 3 Ti200 Athlon XP 2000+ 512MB PC2700 Via chipsets and Creative products usually have problems, but my setup is perfectly stable, except for OFP. BTW I have the latest drivers for everything, except motherboard drivers cause those where unstable.  I have the latest BIOS.  And I have version 1.91.  I've had OFP for almost a year now, and never had a problem until a few months ago. EDIT I've also tried AGP 2x and 1x but neither solved the problem.

Hey everybody, yes I'm new  . AMD has 2 versions of it's 64 bit CPU.  The server version (called Opteron), and the desktop version (Athlon 64).  Opteron was introduced in April.  It tops out at 1.8GHz today, though  2.0GHz version is expected in August.  At 1.8GHz it is about on par with the P4 3.0Ghz (for gaming).  Anyway, in September Athlon 64 comes out.  It should debut between 2.0-2.2GHz.  This shouldn't be a problem considering AMD already has an Athlon XP that runs at 2.25GHz, and the Athlon 64 is designed to be more scalable.  Now to the question.  Will there be a 64 bit version of OFP 2?  It depends.  If there is a large enough 64 bit market, and if the game can noticably(sp?) benefit from a 64 bit version, then maybe there will be.  We really can't tell right now. BTW, Intel has no interest in 64 bit desktop CPUs for the time being, or so they say.  (They already have a 64 bit server CPU called Itanium, BTW).  However, there are rumors of a CPU called "Yamhill" being developed by Intel that will compete with AMD's Athlon 64, if it's a success.  Otherwise, only expect to see Intel's "Prescott" (unoffically named Pentium 5, really origional aren't they? lol) this Fall, which will be strictly 32 bit. For more information about K8 (Opteron and Athlon64) check out this site. http://anandtech.com/cpu/showdoc.html?i=1815 Or if you want to learn about any computer parts (including K8/Prescott) check out this message board. http://www.sharkyforums.com/ Have a nice day!
