    Coop lost squad mission

how did you do it, then?

    Campaign: interdiction

great mission, great havoc ^^ there is just one way, if you wanna clear them all: kill everything that isnt you on the way down. there is a sniper in the first squad (1st outpost), which is extremely helpful for the approach from uphill. go left clean the 2nd outpost, shoot all soldiers on the street with your dragunov. there are like 10 or so, theyre sometimes hard to find in the bushes. unfortunately, the mgs cannot be used for that, the angle is too high. go back up to 1st outpost, now move to the opposite side (looking from the starting point: right); move down, clear the street, put a satchel below that tank and another on the street, where the other tank moves over. keep your distance and keep an eye to the patrol which sometimes comes from up above. blow both charges, when the patrolling tank is near the one you placed on the street. mission accomplished, now you *can* radio in your fellas. i didnt do that, but decided to take out the approaching tanks by myself. hard, but rewarding work; they will come for you from the base, you should be able to take out at least 2 of them before they zero in at you. now run as hell to the 2nd outpost (if you need to gear up, there are enough rpg-guys lying arond =)) and shoot the tanks from there. 2 will eventually survive, and they will come for you from the left side. pack up another bunch of rpgs, be sure your dragunov is fully loaded, and run like hell uphill. take cover beneath a bush, take out the remainig troopers, and try to kill the 2 remaining tanks. long text, but it cost me like 20 tries before ive cleaned that lvl completely; you may even be so lucky of only severing a tank, so you can at least use him for the bmps. rewarding. edit: i recall, that there are 2 tanks standing still, or was it 1 tank and another patrolling? or 2 standing, and after you blow them, one patrolling? doesnt change that very much, the hard part is after youve completed that mission

    Lost in the forest

How to win montignac must fall?

i play that mission in a similar way, cept for the aa story what my problem is: you have to shoot down half of the guys runnin around there, like 30 ppl, be4 you find anything rpg-like i normally stay in the woods, crouch and peer out from time to time... and take out some soldiers... even if i am damn good and every second round is a kill, i HAVE to leave cover to retrieve new rounds; by that time i have long switched to AK and rpg. didnt play it for some time, but i am pretty sure, that there are like 2 rpg soldiers: the 1 lying right be4 you at the start and another one near the village where you find the car (forgot the name). all ammo crates i discovered were full uf hand grenades, ammo and pk... cept for 1 with, i think satchel charges, im not so sure about that part i had a hard time to even destroy that few bmps there, like 3 of them... another one would have caught me a bit ... unprepared =)

Getting real tired of aiming problems.

i remember exactly the same problem in another game, in quake 3, when upgraded to 1.30... balancing the windows acccel/speed versus the game accel/speed solved the problem. i had to fiddle with all the funky features, perhaps just try and error... tried turning off write combining? just a guess; with q3, i had quite a hard time to restore my original settings.

Resistance crashes to desktop on startup.

thank you placebo, figured it out myself in the meantime, didnt help tho. so i am going to buy me a new graphics card... kyro is nice, but you have to download a special patch for nearly every game.... rgrds alex

Resistance crashes to desktop on startup.

i came up with exactly the same problem. GOTY edition, installed it, worked fine except for some texture problems and some crashes. took a look into the FAQ, decided to upgrade my machine to new kyro drivers , i think like 16.0xx. it doesnt matter, what i do now, i am not able to start the game... it changes resolution, screen goes black, and in an instant i am on my desktop again. i tried to find the described driver 7.xx from ofp faq for my kyroII 4500, but couldnt find it anywhere. its really annoying, because in the beginning, it worked... damn =) any suggestions? would be great regards, alex

Some day, all wars will be fought like this?

well, our christian culture spent most of the middle age preserving and copying lots of arabian literature. for instance avicenna (dont know his original name), who gave galen and other christian "auctoritates" a decent forward push in medical knowledge. its a strange fact, that our culture prospered and flourished, while the islamic countries suffered some stagnation actually. i do not have enough knowledge in these matters to suggest some reasons for that, but kinda remembers me of the roman empire in the early middle ages.

Anyone know of any free dvd players?

www.tiasoft.de micro dvd player; freeware and the divx codec isnt much help when viewing a svcd... i generally use bsplayer for all formats, it is small, has all features (like subs, dual sound etc) and has crashed only once in the whole time i use this player, also freeware btw. hmm i cannot find any url, there was no readme attached... or i deleted it. take a look via google for bplay or bsplay, great tool.

    Best free stuff

@fallen paladin: there is a great dos programm from one of the most reputated computer-magazines, the c`t ftp://ftp.heise.de/pub/ct/ctsi/ctramtst.zip tests the complete ram, crashes often happen because of bad ram; btw you are german, arent you?

I think this wwii game is from bis

@jersey devil: if it is possible to create a rts game out of opflash, its surely possible to create an fps/combat sim out of a strategy game =) (hope so) @red oct: the sturmovik engine isnt that hardware-hungry... runs quite smooth on older engines too, afair

    [ot] very nice battlefield1942-fanmovie

hi everybody, just dl'ed this fine piece of work. made by the bf42-clan southern brigade, a fanmovie with (imho) some kind of story. very good quality, duration 8 minutes. http://nato.daddeln.de/pv....id=1172 even interesting for people who either do not know or do not like the game. sorry, if this was posted before, i did a quick search with no results in this case. have fun with it and feel free to post other great movies! unfortunately, there are very few opflash-fanvids around :\ edit. slight url-problem :\... this one should be correct, sry

I think this wwii game is from bis

would be strange, cm didnt license or buy the opflash engine... which on the one hand is sad... you know, id made a lot of great games possible by merchandising the gameengines of the quake-series, like mohaa, rtcw, sof2, alice, jedi knight2. would be great to see other development teams building games with this great engine, perhaps it would give a great enhancement to it. there is a rts-addon by an opflash-fan, isnt it? called like rts1 to rts 3 if i remember correctly.

yes, these matrixlike movements are kinda phony wiggum: i think its the divx 5.02bundle, if this doesnt work, also install divx3.11. http://www.divx.com/divx/ and dont - i repeat: dont =) - install any codecbundles like nimo or tsunami... in some cases they mess up your machine and they contain lots of pointless codecs. if this doesnt work, pls pm.

    This stuff is confusing me

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">No one has used such a weapon again after its full effect were seen and realized. When it was dropped no one knew what the lasting effects would be adn barely understood the forces they were unleashing.<span id='postcolor'> well, the blast radius was known, they dropped the bomb from a certain height to ensure the planes were not harmed. also there were calculations of the estimated casualties. so the bombs were not merely another oppressive action against industrial complexes, but a signal. at this time, the scientists were not sure about the long term effects, but -as cynical as it may sound- medicine has learned enormously much about blood cancers and other malignoma by studying the aftereffects. it is very sad, that this bombing was obviously "necessary" to ensure a bombing with that devastating effect will not happen again.

    Bush and the environment

thats exactly the point... these damages show up very slowly, and even if there are temporarily improvements, noone can be sure about the outcome. two things which make environment politics quite difficult are 1. nothing you do today will show tomorrow, especially not within an election period 2. people have quite a lowlwvwl interest in things they dont feel right now.

    This stuff is confusing me

@balschiow: i think that bushs lacking engagement in nkorea has much to do with the fact that it sharec borders with china. although china ensured its will to help fighting back any terrorists, i am quite sure, that an engagement of us troopers so close to china would be somehairy thing. just a thought, perhaps im totally wrong.

    Women soldiers?

some hard facts? as with everything gender-related, youll find arguments on both points of view http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq48-3f.htm http://www-tech.mit.edu/V117/N52/combat.52w.html http://www.uiowa.edu/~ournews/2001/april/0430military-women.html http://www.rand.org/publications/MR/MR896/ the last one is more like an overview for job opportunities, and i didnt read it in complete =) the minerva community seems to be specially dedicated to everything related to women and military issues, just took a look at it http://www2.h-net.msu.edu/~minerva/
