    Sniper Scope Tips

    I think the modeling is pretty good on bullet ballistics in ArmA. The truth is there really is a lot of guess work in longer range shooting. I've done plenty of it and it's mostly feel more than anything else. Case and point is my CZ527 with a 4x-12x scope, sure, it has a range finder built in as part of the focus. Know how it goes? 10m-300m then infinity. Beyond 50m it is pretty useless as at that point anything other than perfect vision introduces inaccuracy in the labeling. To range I just guess based on how big the target is (or I think it is). The trick to shooting sniper rifles in game is the same as in real life, pick a zoom level and never leave it. Then learn how the gun shoots at different ranges with that zoom. On a related note, the SVD makes it a lot easier with it's ranging system but I still prefer the M24. I have no problem plucking guys off from 1-1.5km in game. Standing still that is though, taking shots at guys running around at that range is a waste of ammo.

    I have the no ural bug as well. Here are the exact error messages I get when starting the first mission of the Resistance campaign: No entry 'config.bin/CfgVehicles/ural.vehicleClass'. No entry 'config.bin/CfgVehicles.Tractor'. No entry 'config.bin/CfgVehicles.SkodaBlue'. OFP:R then crashes to desktop. I also get the following error message on starting OFP:R when it loads the background mission for the main menu: No entry 'config.bin/CfgVehicles/ural.simulation'. I get more messages about the missing ural when opening the mission builder and working in it. I do not have the full version of CSLA2, instead I have the shortened version that is linked in the readme for this mod. I guess that could be the source of the problem but it is just a guess.

    Any mods that allow opengl in ofp:r?

    I run on an ATI 9200 128mb and DX mode just sucks. I get numorous small but annoying graphical errors and frequent pauses. I have tried various versions of the drivers but OpenGL games always run much smoother for me and look better. So I was wondering if anyone has created some sort of mod that allows you to play OFP in OpenGL mode or allows an ATI card to run in straight Glide mode. I'm doubtful one exists, but it's worth asking.

    Forgotten Battles, Chaser and Call of Duty are all OpenGL games, of those only Forgotten Battles even has the option for D3D. The only upcoming game that I know of that uses D3D only is Lock On: Modern Air Combat. Real shame too cause it looks like it would be great. Problem is with D3D the minimum system spec is something like a ATI 9700 Pro. And the graphics really arn't all that special. With OpenGL the minimum system spec for identical graphics would probebly be a GF4 MX440.

    Thanks, unfortunatly that one doesn't work. I still get the missing *.dll. I guess I'm stuck with craptacular DX .

    Nope. It gives the option for Glide, but not OpenGL. I tried Glide a few times, but every time it gives me a missing Glide.DLL (or something like that) message.
