Okay chaps, I have just done a fresh install of Flashpoint/Gold addon version, plus Resistance. Everything went smoothly and the game installs without hassle and plays the first couple of missions in the campaign with no problems.
However, recently I have noticed a tendency for the game to crash directly to a black screen reboot of windows. This occurs generally when I click the mouse to fire or target.
I have a suspicion it has something to do with sound because of general sound irregularities elsewhere in the game (strange noises and buzzes and pops etc) ... I have set sound acceleration to = none ... to partially resolve.
My setup .... - vanilla pentium 4 with Geforce 4 + fortissimo 2 soundcard. Running XP (all service packs) + latest drivers for graphics and soundcard. Suffice to say, nothing else displays this reboot crash thing .. and my comp is pretty heavily used as a games platform.
Question is; has anybody else experienced this crash style .. and does anyone know of any tweaks to avoid it ... or to get sound hardware acceleration to work correctly.
Please assume that i've done most obvious things to workaround and my windows XP is pretty much stable and optimised ... my blind spot is likely to be Operation Flashpoint related eccentricities ... (i only bought the game and addons yesterday
