SWAT/DEA/ATF and Entry Team released
MR_TROUBLE replied to -SWAT-'s topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
One problem I noticed. You show an LAPD SWAT team member with a vest that says "SHERIFF" on the back. LAPD officers are not Sheriff Deputies and do not work wfor the Sheriff Dept or wear any of their gear. Sheriffs are a County agency and LAPD is a City agency. It's like having USMC AND US ARMY on the same uniform. -
Feb 14th is Valentine's Day. Are you all without girlfriend's or what!?!? "Sorry honey, can't have a romantic dinner with you tonight because I have a date on Sahrani Island with an M4 ACOG..." *bitch slap*

I dunno dudes..I'm having a blast playing ArMa. I get the occasional desktop crash and texture weirdness. But the bugs in the game don't "bug" me, the people who play it bug me...pun intended. I get more pissed off at tk'ing or the player who doesn't know how to fly a chopper flying me and 4 other players into a tree than I do at any of the bugs I've seen. Look at how many patches the Tom Clancy series of games has had? What about EA Games and BF2 and 2142. You hear the same complaints on the EA forums about people who complaint about EA releasing a buggy game after buggy game. And I'm not saying that EA games and BIS don't owe the gaming community an explanation for all of this, they do. What people should do, to send a message, is return the product, demand your money back. If you paid with a credit card, dispute the charges through your financial institution. As far as BIS making mistakes and killing ArMa I dont know. OFP and ArMa have never had the draw that BF1942, BF2, and BF2142 does. Even if ArMa was revamped and bug-free it's still too complicated for the typica player. The user console/interface/whatever is too "deep" for most players who are used to CS, BF2, Raven Shield, Quake, Doom, type of play. Most people like to run and gun...they dont like hiding in a forest with an RPG and sniper rifle for an hour waiting for the perfect kill. They don't like a map so large you can literally get lost driving around or get stranded somewhere and not fire a shot the whole game. But I think it's a great game. I had got away from OFP Resistance for a couple of years and I'm glad I rediscovered it with ArMa. It's like an old girlfriend that you used to date....she used to be fat...now she's thinner...her hair is shinier...she got a boob job....but she's got some of the same mental issues that drove you away the last time...plus some new issues....but man she's great in the sack most of the time. That's how ArMa is for me.

I'm an American. I love Apple pie. I played baseball as a kid. I'm proud of the fact that so many good things came out of America...like rock 'n' roll. I'm proud of the fact that our country was built by immigrants from all over the world. I have served and continue to serve in a domestic capacity and will protect my country against any threat to our freedoms and ideals. I'm not a pacifist. I believe in a strong military and using it when necessary. Afghanistan is a righteous fight. Iraq is not. 9/11 was a wake up call for us, and the world. After we were attacked, the whole world was on our side. Even Iranians were in the streets with flags and candles in solidarity with us. People all over the world love America and what we have stood for. They like Americans as people. Many still remember the American tanks and troops that rolled into France and liberated them from the Germans. But WW2 was the last time we actually fought for real freedom for other people and ourselves. It was the last time that dying for your country had any real purpose and validity to it. George Bush and his neoconservative gang, took the unity that the tragedy of 9/11 brought, and turned the world against us. He used 9/11 as justification to invade Iraq even though Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. With his misguided war-mongering policies he dragged the American flag, a flag that a lot of people died for over the past 200 yrs of our country's history, through the mud. Thanks George. Thanks Republicans. Thanks Conservatives. Thanks American citizens who voted for Bush not only once but twice you fking idiots. Thanks for ruining my country's name. Thanks for getting a lot of people killed for nothing. Thanks for a lack of oversight and fked up policies that led to things like Haditha and Abu Gharaib. Thanks for showing the Iraqis that we can be just as brutal and kill innocent people just as effectively as Saddam did. Thanks for taking the visions and ideals my country was founded upon and taking a big royal shit on them. Thanks for making it virtually unsafe for Americans to travel abroad.

I have noticed something going on with ArmA that I haven't experienced in other games. Excessive intentional teamkilling. I play ArmA usually every night for a couple of hours off and on. Almost every server I join and game I get into, there's someone mass TK'ing at the spawn points. Then it gets contagious and other players start tk'ing. Yesterday evening, on Karrillion's Co-Op server, I was intentionally TK'd by USACerebalAssassin. I asked Karrillion to boot this guy and Karrillion refused which goes to show how much integrity he has. Apparently Karrillion and CerebalAssassin are an item which is oh so cute. I have played just about every FPS and combat sim out there and I have never seen such blatant TK'ing before on this scale and a refusal of hosts to boot the tk'ers. Kick votes don't seem to be effective because usually not enough people participate. It's like hey if I'm not the one being tk'd I don't care. I would think that LESS children would be drawn to ArmA due to its complexity but it seems like there are a lot of children and immature people who are running rampant on ArmA servers. I guess what should be done is anyone who intentionally TK's another should then be TK'd in kind on sight for the next month.
-
Really? Are you sure? I saw you TK the **** out of Murat and Grouchy the other day... Those who complain the most are usually the ones who feel the biggest guilt! You are so full of shit. I guess anyone can come online and make a claim and pretend it's reality. I have screenshots to back up everything I say. You don't. Have some integrity for christ's sake. I did not spend over $50 downloading this game and putting up with all the fking bugs to waste my time go around tk'ing people. But when I am blatantly TK'd it pisses me off. Do unto others.... Have I ever accidentally tk'd someone? you bet. But never intentionally unless I'm defending myself against intentionally getting TK'd or defending fellow players against intentional TK'ing.

So let me get this straight... You have no problem with being sent to war, by someone who clearly got assigned because of his connections, to a unit of the Texas ANG, that was a unit of "fortunate sons" including 9 members...count em...9 members of the Dallas Cowboys football team, in order to avoid service in Vietnam, when thousands of his countrymen, many of them draftees, were being forced into uniform and shipped off to war? Why would one unit of the Texas Air National Guard, have George Bush, and 9 members of the Dallas Cowboys in it? You're ok with that? you think someone like that should be in charge of US armed forces? You think someone like that should be given the right to send people with families and futures into harm's way? Personally, I wouldn't even want someone like that to be my boss if I worked at a fucking car wash much less in charge of my country and military. Kerry didn't give himself the Purple Heart. The US Military did. All a soldier had to do to get a purple heart was get injured in a combat zone. It doesnt say really how to get injured...just injured. A lot of soldiers received purple hearts for minor wounds in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. It doesn't make them bad people and it shouldn't be used to demean or belittle their service. They don't make the rules with regards to the issuing of medals or citations.
-
I was hoping you'd respond. First of all you ARE a child. Only a child would react by tk'ing someone for something someone said. And you're one BIG liar. You were not even cussed at. I wasn't even talking directly to you. You jumped in and got involved and then you said "What are you gonna do?" or something to that effect and I joked back "I'm going to type in all caps" Here I am making a joke and then you TK'd me like the child you are. Right after you did that, I took a screenshot of it and can post it up to refresh your memory because obviously you don't remember what happened. Some of the text is there as well. Intentional TK'ing is never justified unless you're doing it to prevent from being TK'd yourself. Which wasn't what was going on therefore you're not justified in TK'ing me or anyone else no matter what excuses you make for your actions. It's immature people like you who ruin the gaming experience for everyone else. That's ok...payback is a bitch...and it will be fully justified.
-
Duke, At least Kerry was there. He never claimed himself to be a "God given warrior" as you stated. As far as how he was injured in Vietnam, I don't care about that. At least he was there in harm's way unlike those chickenshits Bush and Cheney. Kerry didn't insult the troops. Only someone with an IQ of 10 would think that. But Bush insulted the troops and the American people when he used Kerry's botched joke on Bush to try to make everyone think that Kerry insulted the troops. You obviously fell for it. There's a political cartoon somewhere that shows a couple of soldiers in Iraq saying "Better to be insulted by a botched-joke than a botched-war" or something to that effect. It's amazing that Kerry's Vietnam war record bothers you more than Bush's hiding out in the National Guard and Cheney's 5 draft deferments to keep him out of Vietnam!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THAT??!?!?!? As far as our military being made up of young people who "believe in the flag". What does believing in the flag mean exactly? And I'm sure that those Nazi prison guards believed in their flag too. So what you're saying about believing in the flag is mere bullshit. You don't believe in the flag anymore than you believe in the Golden Arches of Macdonald's. Also, patriotism is the last refuge of a soundrel. If you die in Iraq you're not dying for the flag. You're not dying for freedom. You're not dying for America. You're dying for a neoconservative agenda called the Project for the New American Century (google it P.N.A.C.) which is a plan of US global domination devised and implemented by Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Bush before they were even in office, and that's a pretty fucking lame thing to die for. American soldiers have not died for true freedom since World War II. Every other conflict we have had since has been BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grenada...Panama... You obviously don't know what freedom really is and where it is found. The flag you cherish so much has been dragged through the mud by your neoconservative heroes in Washington. The fact that you don't recognize that tells me that you're not quite the patriotic American you are making yourself out to be. True patriots stand up to injustice even against their own government...when there is a rollback on the ideals and visions America was founded upon true patriots rise up against it. You don't rise up, therefore your patriotism is a facade. See I actually believe in America, what America is supposed to be about, unlike you who has blind faith in your leaders and your government. Well my government is NOT my country. That's great you're going in the Army. But you're doing it because your whole family has served like mine. My grandfather served in WW2 in an M-10 Tank Destroyer and trained soldiers at Ft. Hood, Tx. My uncle was Huey pilot in Vietnam. My father was a LRRP in Vietnam. I went in because I felt it was a family tradition which is actually the wrong reason to join. And no we haven't learned anything from Vietnam. And yes we send in GI's for everything. We sent them to Grenada in 1983 because of some landing strip the Russians were building. Yea it took over a week for the 82nd Airborne, Rangers, Special Forces, to overtake a bunch of Cuban construction workers and an 80 yr old woman with a shotgun. We invaded Panama in 1989, which was a blatant violation of international law, to take out Manuel Noriega who was in fact a rogue CIA agent still on the agency's payroll. Yep, because people in Los Angeles had a strong demand for COCAINE, we invade Panama and put their leader in an American jail because he was supplying cocaine. That's a great use of US Forces...I'm sure those Navy Seals that died storming that airfield didn't die in vain...they died to keep people in LA from getting high. Techniques in warfare? Oh I'm so impressed. Our advanced techniques have really squashed the insurgency!!! We took on Japan, Germany, and Italy in WW2...we fought campaigns in the Pacific...North Africa..and Europe simultaneously....and the Iraq war is already taking longer than WW2 did with no end in sight!! What does THAT tell you. So much for everything we've learned eh? Some techniques we got! Politics hasn't been involved in fighting the Iraq war on the ground. The US Military has had the freedom to wage the war on its own terms. Stalingrad...I mean Fallujah is a prime example of that. As far as people asking why they lost their loved ones for if we leave Iraq...DUDE!!!....People are asking THAT NOW!!!! Why do you think the Republicans lost both houses of Congress. Wake UP. What are our kids dying in Iraq for? Nothing. They are dying for nothing. Just like the guys who died in Vietnam for nothing. I have no problem with the invasion of Afghanistan. It was the right thing to do. Most people don't have a problem with it. It's too bad we wasted so much of our energy and resources in a quagmire like Iraq when we should have focused everything on Afghanistan and capturing Osama bin Laden. As far as crushing people, the Taliban are making a comeback in case you've been asleep. Afghanistan is completely unstable. Our invasion of Iraq has turned the country into a terrorist haven. The whole region can turn into shit at a moment's notice. Thanks to Bush, our country even more at risk now than ever before. So much for a war on terror. Borat was right....it's a War OF Terror. Instead of yawning you should be baaaaaa'ing?

I agree with supporting the troops...by bringing them home. We obviously learned nothing from Vietnam. Who would have thought that after the blatant waste of lives in Vietnam we would again invade a country over bullshit and get a lot of good people killed over a bunch of LIES. President Bush's invasion of Iraq was a blatant misuse of American forces and waste of lives. Wanna support the troops? Stop voting war-mongering, lying, manipulative, spineless idiots into public office. Vote for people who are only going to send American forces to war as a last resort. Afghanistan yes. Iraq NO. What does Bush know about honor and service? He hid out in the Texas Air National Guard snorting cocaine and flying a plane (that's when he even bothered to report for duty) that was outphased. He hid there along with 9 members of the Dallas Cowboys. Creedence Clearwater's song "Fortunate Son" comes to mind. VP Cheney received multiple draft deferrments to keep his spineless ass out of serving in Vietnam. When questioned about this his response was "I had better things to do..." Oh really Cheney? You fucking dick. It might be an all-volunteer Army. But most of the grunts are recruited from poor neighborhoods all across America. I was a recruiter and recruiters intentionally seek out young, naive, non-politically minded people to serve in the military. The more intelligent you are...the more options you have in life...there is less of a chance that you would consider military service and hardly any chance that a military recruiter is going to waste his or her time trying to recruit you. We know the statistics. Recruiters can look over at the recruiter next to them and see how successful they are and their bonuses they get by focusing on certain demographics with regards to potential recruits. The recruiters making all the money and driving brand new cars are the ones who have no problem preying on any village idiot out there. They go to the malls and find young kids with hardly a prayer to save their ass working at some kiosk selling sunglasses and get them pumped up on the military. Recruiters also lie their asses off "Ah pick this MOS and chances are you won't go to Iraq" Bullshit. Everyone with a pulse is going to Iraq even if you're a COOK. Yes, there are cooks out there running around with M-16's on patrol. This war is created by rich, spineless, cowards and fought by the young, naive, and poor kids of America.

Religion, seems like a noble thing at face value...to me. Â You know...love thy neighbor...though shall not kill or cheat or steal, etc. Â But when I look at the supposedly religious people around me, people who profess to be either good christians or catholics, they are seriously hypocritical and flawed human beings. Â Many do not have the reverence for human life and tolerance of others that I think religious principles demand of them. For example, a buddy of mine is pro-life when it comes to the abortion debate. Â But he's the first to tell you that if he sees someone step onto his property, or if he sees some stranger in his backyard, he's going to get his shotgun and kill the sonofabitch. Â So it's not ok to take the life of a fetus but it's ok to take the life of someone who is unarmed, and merely trespassing on your property? Â Ok gotcha. Â Hypocracy. I had another friend in high school, a right wing conservative guy...parents were right wing conservatives as well. Â This guy could not stand black people, for no other reason than they were black. The "N" word came out of his mouth quite easily. Â He could though gay people should be killed. Â So much for the whole we're all God's children thing. Â More hypocracy. Look at all the priests that are molesting children. Â These are men of the cloth, people who believe in God and everything that comes with God. Â And yet they are fiddling little altar boys right under God's watchful eye. Â Obviously these priests are not bothered by the notion of HELL. Â And there are thousands of cases of molestation and hundreds of priests involved. Â In addition to that, the cover-up by the church bureacracy and religious groups is appaling. Â So much for protecting children. Â More hypocracy. US Congressman Mark Foley, a homosexual and probable pedophile, was sending sexual text messages to underage boys. Â The Republican leadership, who are always talking about "protecting the children" and how they are better at it than democrats, absolutely protected Mark Foley and brushed the early reports of Foley's actions under the rug. Â They had an opportunity to step up and actually protect these kids and they failed. Â Hypocracy. And I don't get Islam. Â Supposedly a peaceful religion. Â Where was the outcry from even the Islamic moderates...these allegedly peaceful people...when hostages like Nick Berg were getting butchered. Â But as soon as an errant American bomb kills some Iraqi civilians THEN there's an outcry from Islamic leaders. Â Ugh. Take a look at Christmas. Â Does anyone actually remember what Christmas is supposed to be about? Does anyone give a shit? Â Xmas is corporate America's wet dream every year. Â Xmas is about profits, not Jesus. Â Jesus isn't even an afterthought. Â IT's about money money money, buy buy buy, spend spend spend, eat eat eat. Â Anyone else sick of this? I think it's great that some people who truly follow God's teachings, but don't force it on others, who respect all humans no matter what color they are, how much money they make, what political party they belong to, whether they have sex with a man or a woman, etc........ But those people are few and far between...and if we had more of those people the world would be a much better place. Â But because many religious god fearing people are a bunch of selfish, manipulative, racist, bigoted, ass-backwards, mindless drones....we have the world that we have today. So whenever someone talks about how they believe in God and how religious they are and that they go to church every Sunday...I'm like...so WHAT.

Yes they do, but they all meet for a spot of tea beforehand.

Problem patching german download version
MR_TROUBLE replied to Renegade87's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have the downloaded German version. I also had patched it with the unofficial English language conversion. The 1.02 patch will not work if you have the english language version installed. Through Control Panel, I uninstalled the entire game and reinstalled my downloaded copy. I then patched it to 1.02 and it works fine. Now I am just waiting on an update english language conversion -
Well I'm not a left wing hippie by any stretch of the imagination. It's not a question of losing sleep over the fact that the words "Under God" are in the pledge of allegiance. However I do lose sleep over the fact that religious conservatives have it in their agenda to have prayer in schools, at work, etc and teach our school children about "intelligent design", which is just another tactic to teach creationism and it's a movement that is funded by many conservative christian groups. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn....86.html I do lose sleep over the fact that US Christian fundamentalists are driving Bush's Middle East policy. http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,2763,1195729,00.html I do lose sleep that some of our US generals are right wing religious nutjobs who believe that we have the Army of God and God put Bush in the White House. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/1016-01.htm I do lose sleep that we had guys like John Ashcroft, an evangelical NUT, appointed to the position of US Attorney General by none other than George Bush. Aschroft had himself anointed in crisco oil when no holy water was available. More on him here. http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/usa/john-ashcroft/ What a lot of people don't see, is that there's an ultraconservative movement in the US to turn the whole country into JESUSLAND. People like me don't want this. We don't want religion in our schools, our jobs, our government. If you want to believe in God, great, believe in God, but don't bring it into my child's school, don't bring it into my place of work, and don't let it influence the decisions of our elected leaders. A good friend of mine turned into a religious nutcase. It was sad. I was over at his house one night after not seeing him in quite sometime and one night he just went off about "the rapture" and how God isn't going to take him when he comes down...that he is going to be left on Earth to fight the mongrels or whoever the evil bastards are that are going to be in this "7 year war". He told me that I will see people around me disappearing...news reports about people vanishing and leaving nothing but a pile of clothes on the ground....the rapture he calls it. He said that when I see that happening that I am to find him...in Utah...I am to grab all my guns and my gear and my family and find him in Utah. He said he wants me to join him in this fight because I'm a "good man" and I would be a great "soldier" in this "war". The whole time I'm like...whatfuck. Somewhere along the line....this guy I knew from our high school days...a guy I went to bars with...was on the football team with...turned into a right-wing religious zealot. And it's people with the same religious beliefs who are in charge of the US Govt right now. So yes, these people scare me, and I lose a little bit of sleep over it because I love my country and these motherfuckers have ruined it.

The thing that I thought that draws people to OFP and AA is the fact that these games are large-scale military simulators. They're not the small arena style shootouts like Raven Sheild. I remember playing some OFP missions where you start out in the daylight and by the time the mission is done it's nighttime. It feels like it's a real military operation. That's what OFP and AA are meant for correct? So why is it that I can hardly ever find a nice CO-OP server or large-scale West Vs East MP game where all aspects of AA are utilized not just the buildings, sandbags, and barbed wire? Why do I constantly see nothing but CTF games where everyone is running around blasting each other in a small area maze of buildings and structures, sandbags, barbed wire that more closely resembles a paintball match than a military sim? I ended up in a game last night where we were dogfighting with Camel bi-planes. Is this why you spend the 42 Euros or whatever it converted into US dollars? To fly around in a Camel for 30 mins? If I want a small arena shootout where people are running and gunning and dying and respawning every 10 seconds I'll go play Raven Sheild. This is a military combat simulator. That's why the maps are HUGE. It's for large-scale combat. Combined arms...tanks...jets..choppers...infantry. It's not meant for running and gunning like you do in BF2 or Raven Sheild. To make an analogy, it's kinda like buying a fancy Blackberry or PDA phone and only using it to talk and never using it for the other features it was clearly designed for. Am I wrong to feel this way or what?

A Plea for a better multiplayer experience
MR_TROUBLE replied to MR_TROUBLE's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
Yes I realize the game is new, and that's a valid point. But I thought that the general way to create missions in mission editor...even with advanced scripting and all that...is pretty much the same as OFP? So I would think there are plenty of experienced OFP mission makers out there who would be creating some decent missions already. Maybe I'm wrong about that I don't know. I used to create MP missions for OFP years ago but I haven't done it in quite some time so I'm not ready at this point to start making my own missions for other people to play. Maybe a lot of other people right now who bought the game are in the same boat as me. But yea you're both probably right that it will get better over time... But seriously, these little arena paintball style matches need to go -
I had a similar problem, my installation was stopping at one of the character.pbo file. Did you download a sum checker program? I did this on the advice of Metaboli's tech support and I discovered that the 2 downloaded files were corrupt. I also used a download manager which helped. I think this was the program they referred me to: http://www.md5summer.org/ I don't recall the exact instruction on how to use it...but I think you're supposed to put it in the same folder as your ARMA files and you then extract it there and then click on the Arma file and it will check the setup.exe and .bin file. I would check with them first before using it or maybe someone here has the info at hand. After a couple of downloads I finally got non-corrupted files and the installation worked.

The whole thing is used to control people. Religion is a way to control people. Fear is a way to control people. The US Govt is really talented at using both religion and fear to control people. But then again so was Hitler's Nazi Germany. The last thing the US Govt wanted in the 1950's is for Americans to be apathetic to the USSR. So what did they do?? The created the red scare. There's a commie under everybody's bed, in the bushes. There were witch hunts that ruined innocent people's lives. We are constantly kept in fear of something...we're constantly being fed bullshit about our impending doom around the corner. If you look at Pre-Iraq war speeches by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice they all mentioned the "mushroom cloud" that would happen if we ignore a threat from Iraq and Al Qaeda. Using that imagry, of a mushroom cloud, was a blatant shot at the American people to keep them in fear of Iraq and Islamic terrorists so that they would fall in line and support an invasion of Iraq. Seriously, I'm so sick and tired of our elected officials using religion and fear as a way to control the population. It's insulting. But too many Americans live in a bubble. They are too focused on who's winning on American Idol or Britney Spear's vagina to realize they're being blatantly lied to and controlled.
-
I never used the word "unconstitutional" and there's no contradiction in anything I posted. The whole thing was born out of the McCarthy era just like you said because of our opposition to an athiest USSR. Seriously, why should we give a shit if the USSR didn't believe in god? It's almost like some juvenile high school thing. It was wrong then to invoke the name of God and put it on coins and money and the pledge of allegiance for those reasons. In the Ozzie and Harriet 1950's, the American population went along with everything the govt said. It's not that way anymore. If Nike shoes put "In God We Trust" on their shoes there would be an outcry from the Christian population and they would demand that they take it off due to it being sacriligious. So why is it perfectly OK to cheaply advertise your christian belief in god on money? Is it not sacriligious? The establishment clause strictly forbids a govt from spouting their religious viewpoints...and by invoking God's name on the official currency of the US...they violate that clause. Just because a bank is a private company that doesn't mean they can do what they want. This is the official govt currency. When the currency is counterfeited, the private bank doesn't hire a private company to investigate. The US Secret Service investigates. It's GOVT property and controlled by the US Govt. Just like a private company can't discriminate against employees with regards to race, creed, religion,etc....why should a private bank force the US population to use currency that invokes the name of a god. Since the US has a population with many CULTURES and religions...since you brought up the culture thing....then why dont we put "In Buddha We Trust"? What about putting "Allah" in the pledge? Why should my kid have to say "one nation under God" in the pledge? It's not 1956 anymore...the USSR doesn't exist....that bastard McCarthy is long dead...I think we can stop hiding behind the name of god out of our fear of those horrible Russkies...so it's time to remove the word God from our currency and our pledge.

The decline of Western civilization continues...

You also live in a country in which people pay money for used panties. Anyway, you are correct in saying that you are in the minority. You got to look at the history of our country to understand why your are in the minority. Connecticut, for example, did not disestablish the Congregational Church until 1818. Gen. William Eaton, commander of American forces and "allied" forces during the First Barbary War, wrote in his journal, "(W)e find it almost impossible to inspire these wild bigots with confidence in us or to persuade them that, being Christians, we can be otherwise than enemies to Musselmen." Yikes. I thought that was Japan with the used panties thing...not the US.

The phrase wasn't even in the original version (written by a socialist in 1892) of the pledge. Â It was put into the pledge in the 1950's, when Dwight Eisenhower was president, during a whole religious movement in the country, after pressure from a Catholic group called the Knights of Columbus. The pressure to put religion into Government, the Constitution, really started after the US Civil War because a large group of clergymen felt the horrors of the war was a form of payback from God on the founding fathers for not declaring that the US was a Christian nation. Â They tried to get amendments to the constitution to make it say so. That's just as bad as any lobbying group, pressuring the US Congress, to put "One Nation Under Santa Claus" or the "Easter Bunny" since so many people apparently believe in that as well. The pledge was originally designed to show patriotism, not to show your belief in any religion. Â The words under god should be removed from the pledge. What is your opinion on the reverse side of the Great Seal of the United States. God is looking down in favor of the American cause. Should we remove God from the reverse side of the Great Seal? God has been in the Great Seal for over 200 years and it has not been declared unconstitutional. I'm all for removing any and all religious references from official govt seals, documents, etc. I feel that any religion is a personal thing between that person and their chosen God. It shouldn't be in our face everyday...I shouldn't have to see a cross image in a city seal or my currency. Our govt shouldn't sanction or endorse any religious symbols or references. The "eye" you're referring to which I guess is supposed to be the eye of god doesn't bother me that much. But I don't think that we should force the pledge of allegiance on people for one...and I don't think that it should mention god. It doesn't keep me up at night and I think there are other more important issues that truly effect our lives that we should focus on...but yeah...I don't agree with religious imagry on seals or currency/coins. But I realize I'm in the minority. I live in a country where someone puts a fking grilled cheese sandwich on Ebay that supposedly has the image of the virgin mary on the bread and people bid on it for thousands of dollars.

Please, any talk of this conspiracy nonsense does the people who died and their families a big injustice. So please just cut it out. Al Qaeda did this. Put the blame where it squarely belongs. To suggest that the neoconservatives in charge of the US Govt, some of the biggest incompetents in history, somehow all got together, swore secrecy and kept to it, and then orchestrated a massive attack on US soil to make it look like Al Qaeda did it is the biggest bunch of horsecrap I've ever heard. Sure sometimes governments orchestrate attacks like this or lie about an attack...such as Hitler did...and the US did with the Gulf of Tonkin incident...but 9/11? Do you realize what you're even suggesting. Think about it. As evil and warmongering as our current govt leaders are, I refuse to believe that they would willingly take part in multiple airline hijackings, a Pentagon attack, the destruction of the WTC's, all resulting in the death of 3000 American citizens.

The phrase wasn't even in the original version (written by a socialist in 1892) of the pledge. It was put into the pledge in the 1950's, when Dwight Eisenhower was president, during a whole religious movement in the country, after pressure from a Catholic group called the Knights of Columbus. The pressure to put religion into Government, the Constitution, really started after the US Civil War because a large group of clergymen felt the horrors of the war was a form of payback from God on the founding fathers for not declaring that the US was a Christian nation. They tried to get amendments to the constitution to make it say so. That's just as bad as any lobbying group, pressuring the US Congress, to put "One Nation Under Santa Claus" or the "Easter Bunny" since so many people apparently believe in that as well. The pledge was originally designed to show patriotism, not to show your belief in any religion. The words under god should be removed from the pledge.

I searched the forums for an answer on this but couldn't really find it. I'm in the USA and downloaded Armed Assault from Metaboli's website. Â It was 2 files...the exe file and the bin file. Â I also downloaded an english language pack. I downloaded them into the same folder just as it directed me to do. When I clicked on the exe file it said that the exe file was "not a valid win32 application". Why would it say this? I'm in contact with their tech support but I'd like to see if any other users have already been down this road. I really miss OFP and haven't played in a few years...I would really love to get this ARMA game working so any help is appreciated.
