Anyone noticed major FPS increase in PvP??? (Hold)
Major Eyeswater replied to Gringo85's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Its because of the lack of AI presence. The coop servers have multiple AI squads on the field at one time, so there is an FPS cap of about ~33fps. In HOLD there is no AI so there is no need for a fps cap thus its unlimited fps for the player! Someone did a test with, multiple squads : fps count ratio and you can tell the difference -
PvP servers (or lack thereof)
Major Eyeswater replied to W1NDOWL1CKER's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Its a shame that arma2 is just full of just "one missioned servers" I find Domination and Evolution COOP maps just bland gametypes with the majority of the servers have no admins and people dont co operate with eachtoher, sure im not bringing down the designers of the missions but what has come out of them and the popularity surrounding these missions just doesnt give any other map makers / pvp gametypes a chance to shine and the true capability of arma2 pvp. We need the good old Hold (or capture and hold i prefer to call it), CTF and King of the Hill maps to be in circulation again then the MP community will see a more enjoyable and challangable way to play arma2. I used to enjoy playing the ECL league maps when they were out, some of the gametypes they came up with are being used today such as windowlicker said about the "progressive C&H" in the AAS maps -
Having troubles getting past 30 fps during multiplayer sessions. Q9550/GTX295
Major Eyeswater replied to Soliex's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I get the problem too, like i've reported on the other thread about this. In MP severs such as the coop gametypes such as Domination, and CTI with grass on or off even when i look in the sky i get an fps cap of 33 fps and less. Where as if i play in a server which has the modes CTF or Hold with grass on or off my fps is not limited so if i look in the sky i get 50+fps. It appears that if the gametype has AI in the mission it caps your fps, where as if you just play pvp the fps is uncapped. Thats my conclusion to it anyway for my problem which sounds the same to yours. -
Why are burning vehicles blowing up over and over?

Its most probably the simulation of the ammunition exploding afterwards. -
Strange Fps cap in MP mode
Major Eyeswater replied to tankkiller01's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
The fps cap is at about 33 fps, never goes above that, so your saying that we have about ~3fps before it gets all juddery, not exactly giving people a good experiance. Around the +/-30fps mark is where the game starts to suddenly feel choppy going sub 30fps and then smooth over 30fps, which is a pain. -

I get the same problem too, C2D E6600 @2.7GHz 3GB DDR2 RAM 8800GTS 640MB Vista 64 Ive noticed is certain servers where they have the grass disabled (or because i have terrain detail very low?) my fps goes above the ~30fps limit that i find on most servers... -

BI press release Re: OFP title and development
Major Eyeswater replied to M.Andersson(SWE)'s topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
I can see this press release being used as a very good publicity tool for BIS, I mean look at the way arma2 is shaping up, its shaping up brilliantly. Now if fans of ofp2 are contributing to the ofp2 forums not fully knowing the past behind the ofp scene such as where the original was developed as the development teams have traded hands then if they look at this press release and see this random game they have never seen or heard before they will get searching into it. With that they can see what a great game it will come to be and how much it relates to the true roots of the original ofp (ofcourse! ) from which they can see which game is truely the sequel. Im sure you people are aware of the call of duty debate about which developers developed which version of call of duty. Call of duty 3 was made by Treyarch which was known to be the "not-so-good" call of duty in the whole series, so when call of duty 5 came on the scene people were skeptical about how good this version is going to be when call of duty 4 made by infinity ward (same devs as cod1 and 2) was a smash hit. It even made customers not purchase cod5 due to it being a  developed by a "less successful developer" without even playing the game! Its all about reputation, the more publicity where BIS can state ofp2 is not made by the original crew of ofp1 then the worse reputation codemasters will get from which BIS can gain from and promote the true sequel! -

It would be a good way to destinguish different players on the battlefield especially if its on veteran mode where you might not have friendly tags enabled or even in cadet mode, i know you would only be able to see what the player is called when your close up, but atleast it takes away the hovering tags! -

you think mine is good? close to the 10000 distance? in the first pic i posted with the thumbnail i made sure the day set on the editor was clear. EDIT: also about you saying it could be optimised for certain game i.e. counterstrike:source, i dont think it is. here are forum links that discuss the new drivers (half of the threads is about speculation of the drivers to start off with) http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=221342 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=89731 also reports of improves scores in 3dmark, still thats not related to the fog or mist issue, the fog in css might differ from the fog in arma, but i dunno why it would. -
