By the way, the invisible H does not require the editor upgrade -
How to get a chopper to behave correctly
Maddock replied to peanuckle_00's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Good advice, and completely correct. -
Umm dunno. I'm pretty sure our team completed this one no probs.
-
Old material Fubar. You did that joke already.
-
I too have a GeForce Ti 200. I'll take a look.
-
I wear prescription glasses. As per the eD FAQ, you can wear the 3d glasses over your existing ones (there's a fair amount of room with adjustable arms). Don't use the static pictures posted here as a guide to how it will work, it's not representative of the 3d effect and is hard to do (you have to do the magic-eye thingy). When wearing the glasses there is no eye-strain or special concentration required. With your normal vision, and with your glasses, it'll work fine. If you're lucky that lazy eye just might pick up an enemy soldier trying to flank you! Â

I can only hope that this is not the same key as 'increase convergence' Â Set a new key to the 'Save Config' option using the 'New Hotkey' box and the 'Set' button. Make sure it is unique within this screen and not going to clash in OFP.
-
You haven't said what card/drivers you have, but if it's an nVidia, there is a shortcut in the 'Game Configuration' area that you can set called 'Save Config'. Check this out in your display properties area, and set the key you want. This will let you save your settings.

Sid. Like those magic eye pictures that have hidden images in the patterns, these screenshots are what your left and right eye would see respectively (not a before and after shot). If you lose focus while looking at the two pictures and can get them to merge as one, you will see a 3d effect, giving you depth in the scene. This is what the glasses do automatically without the eye-strain. Give it a try, it's quite cool.

Elite.....You are the king of OFP 3d! Â Your trick did work, and I'm happily lost in 3 dimensions of OFP. You comments about making sure the settings are 100% is absolutely correct. It can take a lot of tweaking, but it's worth it. Based on my tests, I'm sure that with some practice I will get more used to the environment and be able to increase stereo seperation. Thanks. Â

A nice thread. I think this sums up the feelings of many OFP players.
-
NamelessOne is right. The iron sights are a real issue here. I find it almost impossible to aim correctly because of the sight. Even when reducing seperation and convergence, the iron sight problem still exists. My sight, cockpit, other 'close-up' items are all solid and look correct, but try and fire on a distant object through the sight and you're likely to cry from the eye-strain. These glasses are simply awesome, but this could kill their use in OFP. Someone please help! Â

Come on Sith. My thread about the eD glasses was not praising them or wanting to open up another spammed discussion. I have legitimate questions I thought could be answered by the forum. I posted it General as I didn't think there was a more appropriate forum for it. I didn't add it to the existing thread as it is already dying, and I was not simply adding to the other 'please buy' discussion that was going on there. I think you were a little hasty locking this down, move if you like, but unless we increase the number of forums, say a Hardware Addons section, where do I create such a thread? Anyway, feel free to flush this one with your next batch. Â

Cold, If I'm not mistaken I've played a couple of online matches with yourself. In one you claimed to be high/drunk/both and spent the entire 30mins placing satchel charges around trees and remodelling the landscape in our spawn area. In the second you gave all the vehicles pet names, I think 'BMP Betsy' was my favorite, enjoyed team kills, and spammed the team chat for the full 30mins. Are you enjoying your OFP? Â

I know there have been a few threads of late talking about the new glasses. I've tried them out, they are as good as everyone says . In fact these things may very well re-define how I approach playing OFP. I have a couply of quick queries for other existing users to see if the few quirks I have are normal. 1. Vehicle shadows do not appear correctly in the 3d space. Object shadows are perfect. 2. Cloudlets do not appear correctly in the 3d space, they almost look 2d, meaning knowing their distance can only come from their size. As a result they're hard to look at. 3. The fuel station building does not appear correctly in the 3d space. All other buildings are fine. As a result it is hard to look at. 4. Should aiming be difficult when displaying iron sites? I find the overlay of the sites (effectively 2d), quite hard to lookthrough when focusing into the screen to shoot an enemy at some distance. 5. Do objective waypoints, targets, and formation/leader positions become annoying/difficult because they too are not rendered at a dstance into the scene. I'd appreciate any comments, and love to know if any of these things are in the pipeline for new BIS projects so that 3d is even better supported. Â

Without a doubt teamwork in a coop (even if it's a team capture a flag or deathmatch) is the best OFP experience for me. I find it unfortunate that it's so hard to find people that believe the same on-line. I know there is coop play out there, it's just rare that people take the time to plan and work together (and see a mission through, even if half the team are dead). My most recent on-line coop experience (last night). Was team leader of a squad of 9. Advancing ahead of the team to plan positions and coordinate the attack, snipers stayed back to take up positions. After throwing my first grenade at the advancing forces I was quickly dispatched by a single round to the back of the head.....friendly fire from my sniper. Hard to image when in cadet, in a coop mission (no human enemy). Not exactly the best example, but an example none the less. Reason enough to join the peace corps. Â

I'm sure you love OFP as much as us deathguy, we don't think you're just having a gripe. Even with what we have now, I feel that this game has not reached it's potential. In missions alone there are hundreds of possible scenarios that haven't yet turned up in good missions. So many ideas....such little time! Â As far as your modelling queries, chuck a post in the addons area, and checkout the OFP editing centre, it's a great network of sites. Have Fun! Â

Antichrist is right. With the stuff, support, and extras all received free from BIS I feel like I owe them money! In fact if sending them some cash in advance would help, give me the address, I'm there. Â
-
I'm happy that their work on patches and the dedicated server releases are continuing steadily. I think BIS are doing just fine.
-
I too have this problem with SB-Audigy and Win2000. Switching views is the only fix I know.
-
Here Here Placebo. With good mission work, quite possibly the best AI of any game I've ever played. Maybe they should be called superBOTS, kickUrAssBots, or BISbots. No let's not call them bots at all. Â

One point that may stop you using this feature is the occasional strange behaviour in missions. In my experience during both mission design and testing, accelerated time can cause triggers not to fire, and other strange behaviour that can cause a mission's logic to fail. Â So if you want to be sure that your hard work in a mission will be rewarded, dont risk using accelerated time. Â

I hope these questions haven't already been done to death. Â Our OFP team is embarking on, what we are hoping, will be some excellent multi-player co-op missions. What I am asking of the community is for the parameters of these missions (not neccessarily themes - but feel free! Â ). Specifically: 1. How many players is a good number? 4, 8, more? 2. What is a good length (in time) for such a mission? 3. How many enemy units would you expect to encounter in a good mission? 4 squads, more the better, overrun my sorry arse? 4. Do many of your current Coop missions get much replay, once first completed? 5. Would you like to see random/conditional branching in the objectives of MP Coop missions, improving their replay value? 6. Is there a preference in how much vehicles should be involved, either land or air? slogging it on foot for me, give me that comfy chopper pilot's chair? 7. So that we don't make the same mistakes as others, what bugs you about other MP Coop missions you have played? 8. Are there issues we should consider or try and cater-for given LAN and Internet play can differ so much? Hope you can spend a moment to give us some feedback. Please feel free to offer any other suggestions for our project. We're doing it for the whole community after all. Thanks, Maddock Â

The control panel way will only work if you're already running a specific monitor driver. If you're running a generic or Microsoft driver the control panel won't show you much, and you may not be able to filter available ones (depending on OS).
