Sounds like the VIA problem to me.. Used to happen with me on 1.30 until I got the 4in1 drivers
-
Wow.. That's odd.. I never knew you needed Xp for that? lol
-
What about the rumours that the so called firewall actually enables Microsoft to scan your registry and do all sorts of other sneaky things to see if you have illegal software on your machine? All rumours of course I'll stick with Win2k thank you very much!

Wow.. It must have hit home! Actually I typed that to get your attention Ondrej! lol Seriously though, its actually a typo from my behalf, I did send context.bin and not config.bin.. Anyway... While you're here, could you................ (Edited by Morph at 3:43 pm on Dec. 20, 2001)

Well.. I've sent an email off to bis support about it now.. I've included config.bin, flashpoint.rpt and a copy of dxinfo.txt I'll let you know what my response is...

I'd go for the detonator drivers from www.nvidia.com personally....

I'm running a P3 700 512mb Pc133 with Creative Geforce 2 pro and never get any problems in SP mode.. With 1024x768 res in 32bit colour... Only problems I get is the old slowdown when i'm hosting, apart from that its fine..(I usually just turn off object and vehicle shadows) So as you can see my pc aint the fastest in the world but its fine for this.. Another idea is to make sure you've turned off joystick support in the OFP options...

Firewall? Not that i've used winXP but hasnt it got its built in firewall.. ? Just a suggestion...
-
I've just upgraded from WinME to Win2k pro Service pack 2 and I'm having exactly the same problems... Its fine in SP mode, but whenever i'm host it just crashes at the shutdown..... part.. I can't even end the task from win2k and have to reboot... I have all the latest ethernet drivers for my nic, and its a BRAND new install of win2k... I was gonna post a new topic, but looks like ppl have already beaten me to it.. Oh I've also got 1.30 in case you ask!

Strange that, as it does exactly the same for me.. I'm running a Creative Geforce 2 pro Hardware T&L and yet it never picks it up.. always suggests Direct3d... I still have to turn off object and vehicle shadows when being host on MP game though.. System: P3 700 512RAM Creative Geforce 2 Pro 64 DDR Worryingly it also suggests Glide... Â I always thought Glide was for 3dfx cards? Ah well! I've a bit of a question though as well! Â If I start with ofp prefs and lower stuff down, what is the framerate option in ofp itself? Â When I higher it up to say 30fps it never makes any difference! (Edited by Morph at 3:41 pm on Dec. 19, 2001)

Have you tried reinstalling your drivers for your graphics card?, also try reinstalling directx 8.1... Hope that sorts it out for you. Good luck!

Well.. I've finally solved the problem.... It turns out that its only happening when I'M THE HOST....... I could never get a game in GSA, so I always setup a server for about 5-7 ppl, and thats when it happens.. I joined a server for the first time (I know I know, you're probably all thinking WHY DIDNT YOU TRY THAT? ) Anyways.. It was like a dream, superb framerates, and very playable indeed.. NO MORE HOSTING FOR ME!! Just on another note.... Ran 3dMark2001 on my machine. Got a score of only 1720 with Pentium 700 512mb Pc133 RAM, Creative Geforce 2 Pro 64 ddr.. What gives?

Hi. Just got a cablemodem and can now finally play OFP online at last.. I set up a server for 5 ppl with very low pings (around 50) and chose the map oilwar.. Now.. when I move the mouse to aim, its sooooo slow... Impossible to snipe..Impossible to play... Any ideas? Is it lag? Even though the people run about as normal (no sign of disappearing players, etc which is usally a sign of lag) The game runs fine in 1024 with H&L 32 bit colour in Single mode, but not in MP mode......... My System: P3 700 512Mb RAM Creative GeForce 2 Pro 64mb DDR with Detonator 21.83 drivers Latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers and IRQ Miniport Please help! Â I've tried running the map Oilwar as a single player LAN game and it runs fine....... Â (Edited by Morph at 1:03 pm on Nov. 23, 2001)

Some Duran Duran music? lol Nah.. it really suits the game.. After all it is a military simulator kind of game...

Hmm.. I Don't think its a problem with lag... I can play any other game over the net and it's fine... I did an ISP speed from some program I got that tests Cablemodems and it said it was excellent... No packet loss, etc... Could it be that I'm creating the server from Gamespy Arcade? I'm not running a dedicated server or anything, just a straight coop from within the Everon (create your own games here section of GSA.. I just don't understand why everything is so smooth, yet when I move my rifle around its soooo slow.. ONLY in MP games.... OFP runs superbly on 1024x768 with Hardware T&L in 32bit on single player..
