    ArmA2:Oa Patch 1.54 released!

Syncing patch releases through completely different system to exactly same moment is very difficult. Also, this is not mp only game, there is so much to do in single player and mission editor. Nobody is preventing anyone from running the game at 1.52 on Steam...

ARMA 2 (OA) : DLC discussion thread

You do not. BAF Lite Addons that can be used server-side without any problems are part of the free update 1.54...
  3. I am not observing this in vanilla Operation Arrowhead 1.54 on Desert. I am afraid some more specific repro steps are needed for this problem.
  4. I would say less than 24 hours is pretty safe estimate. Hopefully it will take less...
  5. If you are so impatient, why do not you first check arma2.com ? http://www.arma2.com/supply/game-updates/file/353-a2oa-server-1-54-72898-tar.html?lang=en
  6. Simple way to patch Arma 2 to 1.07 is just to download the patch for Arma 2, like http://www.arma2.com/supply/game-updates/file/235-arma2patch_105_to_107.html?lang=en if you have 1.05...

dePBO not working on 1.54 content

Honestly, I hardly see any real reason to start depboing BAF that would not conflict with BIS interests and licensing policy. Re: configs, yes, you are right. We simply should release our configs under suitable license and I can promise you we will do it once we have a bit time. What also amazes me: with OFP you (= mod making community) gave us years, with Arma 1 months, with Arma 2 week, with Arma 2 OA days but now you give us only hours before you become angry. And do not you realize we are very community oriented company, we support modding as much as we can and that we are not going change in this approach as this is what we like the most about our work?

dePBO not working on 1.54 content

We are supposed to be sorting out that some unofficial tools are not working? You are kidding, right? As to releasing sample content, sure, as always we will do it. But I suggest a bit more patience. And those phrases about modding community dying, please no more...
  9. Patch 1.54 is available from http://www.arma2.com/supply/game-updates/folder.html * Patch 1.54 is not compatible with the Steam version, Steam users have to wait for Steam auto-update * A2: BAF DLC available to purchase through stores linked from http://www.arma2.com/baf , does not contain the patch 1.54 and users need to update their game to 1.54 before they can run A2BAF Full Version. * BAF Lite included in the patch is scaled down quality of units and audio and does not contain any single player scenarios, BAF Lite is available primerily for Dedicated Servers and Clients in multiplayer to allow seamless online operation of A2OA + BAF * Some users report problem updating Mission_E.pbo. We are looking into this issue and we will provide fix for them once we know what the problem was plus will probably provide download link for most recent missions_e.pbo

    ArmA2:Oa Patch 1.54 released!

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=106273 To sum it up, it does not matter but you need to patch to 1.54 before you can use BAF Full Version.

    ArmA2:Oa Patch 1.54 released!

I believe it is time for you to get cold shower now. And if you still can not sleep, perhaps try to learn Mission Editor for today or play some Single Player, or play any other game and come tomorrow to check if the Steam Auto Update for OA kicked in. I also would not be surprised moderators will not be happy about the language you use here on the forums (I am definitely not). And Re: Patch on Steam: I believe it may become available fairly soon but that soon can be easily few hours.
  12. GameSpy Datacenter Move Wednesday, August 25, 2010 22:00 PDT Hello, After many months of hard work the GameSpy team is happy to announce our move to the new data center is finally upon us, which will eventually provide a host of benefits we've been alluding to in newsletters. We expect to begin the switch over process during our normal maintenance window on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 22:00 (10:00PM) Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). The data center move will result in the outage of all GameSpy Tech services for a period of time. We expect this outage will last approximately Six (6) hours during which time all games on the GameSpy Service that have properly implemented the availability check will receive a “Service Temporarily Unavailable†response. We will provide updates and notifications on our progress as conditions merit via our usual system status communication channels: http://twitter.com/gamespystatus ; http://www.tumblr.com/tumblelog/gamespystatusand via email (announcing the commencement of the move and its completion). NOTE: Dedicated game servers utilizing GameSpy matchmaking will require a reboot in order to propagate the new DNS once the data center migration is complete. Should your dedicated game servers be managed by your game community, please be sure to notify them prior to Wednesday, August 25, 2010 22:00 (10:00PM) PDT. The reboot should occur after you have been notified we have completed the move. Important Details Services Impacted: ALL GameSpy Tech Services (including any custom services developed in support of Professional Services Engagements) Date of Switch Over: Wednesday, August 25, 2010 22:00 PDT - Thursday, August 26, 2010 04:00 PDT Check your local time here Expected Duration: Approximately 6 hours Contacts: Please contact your Account Manager or devrelations with any questions or concerns. Thank you in advance for your patience and assistance in this move. Best, The GameSpy Technology Team

    Expansions in-game selector

It is stored to player profile and you can change launch order easily for all mods/expansions.
  14. The idea was to give engineers limited capability, somewhat realistic but still useful and fun for gameplay. So e.g. tire does not get fully fixed etc. Technically, it works in a way that every individual damaged component gets fixed by an engineer to only about 65 percent and overall damage of the entity remains unchanged. This new unit class adds some nice variety to gameplay and as it is fully in-engine it seems to be more robust and polished than scripted solutions.
  15. Did not we confirm that we are planning to work on some solution to in -game addon downloading? If not, here I confirm it. We are in touch with Yoma as he made such tool that already is commonly used. We are also aware of various aspects of hosting servers. There is no exact information what and how we will implement but it is fairly safe to expect that first we will look at option to redirect traffic unrelated to real time mp session (e.g. mission files, custom sounds etc.) to different mirrors before we can even consider going further with some form of built in addon sync.
  16. I primarily corrected a statement here that simply was not correct and mislead people about license and free usage of Arma 2 and/or Operation Arrowhead content for creation of derivative work and free redistribution, however, I suggest this topic do not divert this much off topic here from Tier One Operators release. Also, please note that this type of problem is not only problem of BI content but generally any other content created for the game. The fact that you can technically do something does not mean you really have rights (in terms of license, legal rights or moral rights...) to do it. Considering BI track record with supporting our creative user base in all possible means I can ensure you that BI will continue in this mod maker and community friendly fashion. I am going to open a separate topic for this problem as it definitelly has broader reach than just this addon (taken mostly as an example because of a claim in this topic).
  17. Not correct. In fact, this approach is really wrong. And this community needs for its own sake to understand licenses more. This is probably best place to start to understand the concept of authorship and licenses: http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses/
  18. If you want to use anyone's work, including BIS, make sure you have license to do so. The fact you can convert file formats does not grant you any rights to modify and re-distribute such data! We released a lot of sample data under license permitting further modification, however, most of A2 or OA data are not licensed this way.
  19. ArmA 2 will be laregerly compatible with Armed Assault. To make porting of content from ArmA as simple as possible. Currently, one of the most important things is: * using of undefined variable in scripts (nil value) will be in ArmA 2 strictly reported as an error. All variables used in any scripts must be initialized before first use. Reference: community.bistudio.com
  20. Really? I suggest you to return in time a bit more... It was supposed to be the definite Arma killer and real replacement of Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis / Resistance... http://www.flickr.com/photos/sir_polaris/2746843045/sizes/o/in/photostream/ This is a preview from 2007 for Dragon Rising: To quote: THE LOWDOWN: + The most realistic war simulator ever + 220 sq. km of practically true-to-life environment + Insanely complex weapon and vehicle design + Remains true to the Flashpoint vision - Not being made by the original developers But yes, it looks like they never made it in the end and that Red River is probably no longer striving to compete directly with the original OFP or Arma series. (btw: rest in peace, PC Zone...)
  21. Bug? Unless I misunderstood your post, this is an improvement in our particle system, inspired by fps block busters adored for their particle effects.
  22. I believe the way how DLC on Steam works is that you can not even purchase it unless you have the base game (Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead) from them as well. You will need to purchase it from other online stores, like sprocketidea.com, to get BAF for non-steam version of A2OA.
  23. A new version of Linux beta server 1.07 build 71852 is available now for download. Please post your feedback to this thread. Thank you again for your help with the testing of the Linux server platform for Arma II.
  24. An updated comref to A2OA 1.52 is available for download. It is automatically generated from the engine and contains the same reference as included in-game (shown using F1 in the editor).
