Meqon physics is used in Alpha Prime.

No, it is not using Doom 3 engine. It is powered by Enforce Engine from Black Element Software.

New mergeConfigFile scripting command
maruk replied to dr. hladik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I believe this was explained in good detail before but I will try to summarize it again: it touches the very low level parts of the engine and allowing this command to be mission specific would require major overhaul of many parts of it that would take many months of work with extremely high risk of braking many aspects. So certainly not possible for any patch. The way we want to design it in the end is that in sp it will be possible to use it as well as in mp on any server that is not worried about cheating. -
ARMA 2: OA beta build 74094
maruk replied to Mr. Charles's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Any short variable name still has high probablity of potential conflicts. With _forEachIndex we believe the risk of possible problems is minimized and this variable can be useful addition for scripters. -
New mergeConfigFile scripting command
maruk replied to dr. hladik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Quick heads up: Currently, we think best way ahead with merge config is to implement it in a way that its use will report like if a new modification was installed with each use of the command. This way, command will be available for free use without risking mp abuse of the command. There is no specific ETA for it but we consider it high priority and we plan to release it no later than in next final patch release. -
New mergeConfigFile scripting command
maruk replied to dr. hladik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Just to clarify motivation for adding mergeConfig functionality to the engine: it was supposed to be very useful for faster development, e.g. no longer necessary to restart game in order to change weapon parameter. Requiring developer to restart game seems not be very suitable for this purpose. My current internal suggestion is to rename the command to diag_mergeConfig to reflect its real purpose better. -
There is one problem with Steam cloud: Steam account is a proprietary type of account and users that do not have and do not want to have Steam for any reason are simply left out (and pretty much the same can be told for all other existing solutions for friends / matchmaking / cloud storage for games).
-
I would like to clarify this as this is not very accurate: * it is important to test betas with and without various mods and addons * generally speaking, we are not intending to break compatibility of any user made content so betas are the best way to enable everyone to test all kind of content and report us any unexpected problems

Improved: Animation interpolation no longer shortening hands is a bit deeper change in the animation system. 2MCVSsI0P0M

You are right in a sense. However, public beta releases are a bit different story. They allow our user community and mod makers to be able to check builds frequently and provide feedback. So generally speaking, adjusting mods so that they work with every public beta would not make any sense.

Is it possible to activate a retail copy of ARMA2 over steam?
maruk replied to alleycat's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Exactly. You can not activate the game via Steam or make it part of your Steam games library but you can add it as non-Steam game to the list which should resolve most of problems. -
Few notes to the new recoil: * it is tweaked and tested through long public beta patch process, we believe what is in the game now is overall very good game model for recoil * making an option for the "old" recoil or to lower recoil is not something we would be keen to do: such option would be problem in mp (where this settings clearly would be server side only) and we prefer to keep this part of the game always the same in all modes * it certainly requires training and is more demanding than the pre-1.54 recoil

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
maruk replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
That is truly annoying. However, I am pretty sure that Steam will be able to fix this problem very quickly. -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
maruk replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I think it is possible that Arma community is simply too impatient for Steam. But sometimes, restarting steam helps (get out, get in procedure). -
AI units stop moving in danger mode.

Just to confirm I was able to reproduce the issue with this repro. Thanks everyone for reporting. -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
maruk replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Why would you need to do that? You can install sprocket BAF into your Steam game. But yes, if you have OA from Steam it is wise to wait for BAF from the same place... -

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
maruk replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
The Securom licensing policy probably is not valid for BAF DLC through Sprocket as it is using Impulse... But it should be even more relaxed, from what i know. -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
maruk replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
The activation policy is very relaxed. I can not imagine you run out of activations but if you do, it would be very very strange. If I say very relaxed, I mean it. I can not imagine this can cause any problem to any use of the DLC with godd intention... ---------- Post added at 08:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:49 PM ---------- It has come out, except Steam, if that is what you mean. However, it should be in final parts of the release process there so hopefully it should be out very soon now through Steam as well. -
Yes, all versions should work with Steam. However, for Steam users it still is probably most convenient to use Steam version of BAF as well. And I hope Steam version of BAF should only couple of hour away now (despite it is not fully in our control, I really hope it will not take any longer).

It does not matter when you install the patch but your version should be 1.54 or higher... List of mirrors of 1.54 for any version including online download is here: http://www.arma2.com/supply/game-updates/file/355-a2oa_patch_154.html?lang=en There is also DVD update that does not work well with all online versions but there is an existing workaround for it as well.

Securom usually is helpful and until we release Securom free exe in next patch not much we can do from our end...
-
No, it does not matter at all.
-
I suggest you to contact Securom about it. It may even offer you some option there...
