Too many missions are based around Petrovice or the bridge and thats all. I think I am right in thinking that the original islands didnt have the deciduous forests (I know it had single trees put together, but not a proper forest)

At University we had projectors that you could link to your computer. All that determned the image size was distance from screen. I remember many fun games of Halflife (just out at the time) on the big screen. Im talking BIG screen - cinema size in the main lecture hall (seats 500) it was about 12 Meters wide - (36 foot) and proper height (4:3). Also DVDs were a new thing when I was at Uni, so we had fun with them too on the big screen.

Can someone create a liferaft addon that is based on a simple boat. Requirements No Power (so cant move) 1 position (e.g. cargo) Yellow/Red style liferaft as in reality If the addon can be made I will write a script that deploys the liferaft when a pilot/person ejects over water and lands in the water. and sits them in it awaiting rescue.

Wow lots of responses so far The script will be something like - it pilot ejected and altitude < 1 then camCreate liferaft and pilot moveInCargo liferaft. To leave the raft I will 'cheat' a bit and use - if distance between helicopter and raft is < 2 then addAction "Climb in helicopter" this will do a pilot moveInCargo helicopter and a camDestroy the liferaft. I will try to do it with a standard boat to prove the script, and then replace the boat with the liferaft when it is done. I already have scripts for heli pickups and smoke etc to use for the actual rescue.

Running a server requires more firewall / router configuration than is requited to simply play the game - See My topic about hosting behind a firewall If you are on the same subnet as the server then the server will appear on LAN only (not on Internet listing). The only way to check it appears on the Internet Gamespy listing is to connect to the Internet from a different subnet e.g. dialup and see if the game is listed. When you launch the server it is listed immediately after the second line in the server display is displayed - "Server Identity created" I think? As for 'config.bin/CfgMovesMC.vehicleActions' error message I got that once but cant remember why - I think it is because of different config.bin files as I was running 1.88 versions and the server had 1.85/6/7 version or vice versa.

In my opinion, becuase you have 512MB memory (enough), I would recomend Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1. My reasons for this is that W2K Server is to bloated (Plus do you have a licence for it? >Å500 ) Windows XP has better monitoring (netowrk traffic, processor usage etc) than Windows 2000 Pro, just remember to remove QoS from your Ethernet adapter as that reserves 10% of the available bandwith. Not really important but OFP:R ran at ~32FPS for me on 2000 Pro and ~36FPS on XP Pro (Playing the game, NOT as a server)

I will start by saying I have searched and found some answers, but still have a few questions, hence this post. I have posted previously on this topic See Also Avon's Info on ports Question 1. What ports, UDP and TCP, do I have to open on my firewall to allow me to use the in game browser and connect to servers on the Internet. Answer 1 (from search) - UDP Ports 2302 and 2303 are required for socket play. - If using DirectPlay then you need TCP 47624, 6073, 2300-2400, 2234 UDP 2300-2400 However, my firewall log shows lots of DENY entries to a whole host of UDP ports int the range 2400->2500 these are broadcast sends to 255.255.255.255. There is also a send over TCP Port 28900 to 216.177.89.34 (master.gamespy.com) this is blocked by my firewall too. If I allow these ports, then I can get to the in game broswer and it finds games, but it is quite slow, normally it only takes about 5 seconds to refresh the list of games, but it takes about 20 seconds now. In the firewall log there are lots of UDP sends to lots of different IP addresses (I guess these are the servers) these requests are to lots of different UDP ports (I guess these are people who are running on non-default ports e.g. 6500) Can anyone add anything to this? Thanks in advance.

My 0.02$ I had use of a Toshiba which had a P4 1.7 Mobile and a GeForce 4 420 Graphics Card, and 512 MB DDR 2100 Memory. It ran OFP:R fine at standard settings, so I put it up to Very High Landscape and max viewdistance (while keeping Very high terrain detail - I think it was ~1200M). The game ran fairly smoothly, not brilliantly, but playable. at 5000 M the terrain detail droped (automatic) but performance was better. UT2003 ran fine as well, ~32 FPS on Demo Outdoor map. I would say any P4 1.7+ and any GeForce 4 420+ or Radeon 8xxx+ would be fine. Remember though you cannot upgrade a laptop so it makes sense to pay the extra now and get a top of the range system (my desktop has had 4 Graphics Card upgrade and 2 processor upgrades in in its lifetime)

Resistance dedicated server 1.88 beta
MarcusJClifford replied to MarcusJClifford's topic in NEWS DISCUSSION
I agree, 1.88 *seems* to solve most of the problems. Limited testing so far, but I was watching a game on a [DV] server, and there was only 1 person with desync and his bandwidth was down at 6 with a 400ms ping. Everyone else (20+ players) seened fine. -

When people are talking about their experiences can they post 1. What Processor the server is running 2. Their Upload bandwidth (also download [less important]) 3. Info from #monitor (if active / possible) 4. Number of players 5. Any tweaks / settings in the .cfg file the server was running. Obviously there is no need to replicate this information if it is in your signature like Skunk Monkey's Thanks
