Operation Flashpoint references in Arma2?
Lepardi replied to quicksand's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Just gimme the flashpoint-atmosphere and music and I'll be happy. -
All games should be in stores. That's how it should be.
-
yes
-
so that precision is the reason why in Americas army for example the fps limiter is inaccurate with 32-bit but totally accurate with 64-bit?
-
Your axe must be huge; you've been grinding it for weeks now. Admirable ...What?
-
Why can't sound effects of artillery falling for example be as good in-game as in that CGI video? Add those sounds in ArmA 2 and it would be a 100% better game.
-
Maybe they are planning to milk some money from the console masses that will happily pay for DLC missions.
-
You have already in Arma1 Â Â Too bad the immersion level compared to that trailer is 0.00000000001% with the lame arcade *Bhuum* sound effects of ArmA.

according to CM forum fanboys that just shows how intelligent the AI is... taking cover to the sandbags would only get you killed by a 203, so running into gunfire like a dumbass only shows how advanced the AI will be.
-
Yeah but when talking about the other features of the game the realism will fly right back from the window.

Good luck fighting in close-combat  Arma's FPV is just no engaging enought and so 90's. It's like volvo 1995, clunky, cheeky and horrible imo. in CQC and indoors, it's totally impossible. and FOV changing, gimme a break guys, do you squeeze your eyes to change fov irl? For instance: From hip view could be more CQC friendly, as shown in a screenshot below. That's excellent and how it should be, hip fire as hip fire and when aiming the gun should be on your shoulder. It's very clumsy and annoying to play CQC like it's now.

Arma2 AI the most advanced in the world?
Lepardi replied to quicksand's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
That is absolutely not true. Stadistically is a FACT. There is a building in Parisio that has about 5-6 flights of stairs, then a medium ladder going to a small room on the rooftop. I've seen enemy AI come up after me, many times. (I luv hearing their boots climbing to me) This is not the only building I've seen this, but it is the highest, with stairs and a ladder. But they are absolutely incapable of utilizing that building as cover/defensive position unlike OFP 2. -
Arma2 AI the most advanced in the world?
Lepardi replied to quicksand's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
ArmA 2 AI is just a finetuned version of OFP ai while OFP 2 is completely new and seems to be much more intelligent according to new previews that came out this month. Like when they are put to defend a village, they will seek position from the houses and if you overrun them they will fall back to another positions by themselves. -
And all the ingame footage are from the console versions so that's another reason why it looks crappy. But that also means console is their primary platform so it will be a crappy console-to-PC-port with additional resolution for textures.

They get dirty. You just have to drive them through the mud first. This game is on the same engine as Dirt. Made by the same people. I'm looking forward to the vehicles. Not quite what I meant, compare. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sir_polaris/3292802187/sizes/o/ to http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped....005.jpg If they do get dirty then that is great to hear, but if the vehicles specular remains default such as shown in that first picture its going to look very strange. Picky I know but I just wish someone would make a game with military vehicles painted in dull, unshiny, ugly flat paint like the real thing. Well there is DCS: Black Shark I suppose. It looks like that beacause it's WIP.
-
It's not the same exact engine made by codemasters&sony. It's an engine made based on that engine.
-
No I don't... it's like they were trying to make them sound lame and unrealistic, non immersive, just left them as cheap placeholders there and can't be arsed to fix them.
-
There are lots of problems with nvidia's 8800+ cards in ArmA so it's probably just nvidia.
-
No it's not.
-
In PR you need 3 men to fully operate a tank.
-
ArmA animations are like in slowmotion or something  In OFP they fall much more realistically and look cooler. I hope they use the OFP ones instead. Kills feel much more rewarding when the soldiers won't just start dancing and after that fall in the ground like there's no gravity. If you hit in the head in OFP it's just *flup* and instantly on the ground.
-
Shilka in OFP fired from one invisible cannon in between of the turrets.

Lepardi replied to Sandmeister's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
When you look early OFP videos this feature was there and it looked cool. I think they should add this for ArmA 2.
