Hifi Sound FX V1.00 Released
Lepardi replied to Mark XIII (DayZ)'s topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Otherwise it's good, but the helicopters are just way too loud. Even if they're 1km away they sound like they are behind the house next to you. Edit: One thing I noticed too was that there is an annoying click sound after every bullet when shooting M16 on burst mode. -
Well I'm enjoying my new HD 4870, so much better than 8800 GTS which I had. ArmA now runs smooth as silk on the highest settings. Not to mention how much better image quality it has, there's a clear difference between 8800 GTS and HD 4870.

The link on the first page doesn't work, is there any other place where you can download this?

Likewise, Ive heard too many horror stories about ATI cards and in particular their drivers to consider getting one myself. That's not to say that nVidia are 100% bug free, rather that youre more likely to get a reliable card if you go nVidia. I will be particularily interested to see what Intel's entry into the high end Graphics market will be like. That's just bs. Both have their problems, but AMD has better drivers than nvidia these days. I have heard horror stories from nvidia cards, if someone has had a faulty card it doesn't mean every card is faulty. You aren't more likely to get a more reliable card from nvidia. Both has faulty cards. I only have bad experiences from nvidia cards, especially the drivers, but every ati card has worked 100% flawlessly for me. How can it be a faulty card when the same function that is causing an reboot in one game, works with much higher settings in every other game? If there where an problem with the AA of the Card, i had returned that thing the next day. What you call bs, can be called experience. And that is what i´ve gathered over the years. Did you try boosting the fan speed if it gets too hot in your case maybe? I never had any problems you described on my AGP radeons. But for sure that wouldn't be a problem any more if you upgrade a new mobo and a 4850 instead of 9000 series nvidia.

Negative, HD 4850 is slightly more expensive but it's much faster compared to 9600GT. It is not recommended to upgrade to an nvidia now.
-
You'd be better off with a 4800 series card from AMD. It makes no sense to buy a more expensive but crappier card.
-
I had the same problem, I think it's nvidia driver problem which they can't be arsed to fix. I don't have it anymore since installing a HD 4870. Also the mouselag was gone too.
-
I changed my 8800 GTS to a HD 4870. I'm impressed, image quality is much better and all the mouse lag that existed with 8800GTS is now gone.

Sigh... try google maybe, "Vista Service Pack 1"... Which settings provide the best texture quality, the Very High or the Default option?

What could be the cause for massive fps drop when hearing loud sounds in ArmA, when Hardware Acceleration is enabled? I am using FDF soundpack now, which has very loud sound on the GAU cannons on planes. The FPS will drop below 20 when I begin to hear the loud sound, and it will immediately go back to where it was before, when the sound ends. For example, I'm flying and I have 140 fps, but when I began to hear the impact sound, it will drop below 20 during the time it is heard. If I do not have HW acceleration enabled, it will stay at 140. This doesn't happen with normal ArmA sound, or at least the drop isn't noticeable at all. Specs: X-Fi Fatal1ty soundcard C2D E6750 @ 3,2 GHz HD4870 512Mb ASUS P5K 4x 1Gb 800MHz DDR2

Operation Flashpoint 2 officially announced
Lepardi replied to imported_bör's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Because some people for some reason are real fans of ArmA, and they don't want to accept that OFP 2 might actually prove itself better than ArmA 2. -
Hifi Sound FX V1.00 Released
Lepardi replied to Mark XIII (DayZ)'s topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Why are there three different soundmods, why not put everything in one nice package? -
Mapfact releases: AH-64A and CH-47D v1.08
Lepardi replied to raedor's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I'm not trying to piss anyone off, that's just how it is. The 30mm cannon was what I was talking about, it shoots everything with a 100% accuracy, and when hitting something the effect is only a little amount of dust rising from the ground. The sounds were nothing compared to IRL guncam videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJw27Nw3LAk&fmt=18 That is exactly what I was looking for. Can you already download that fix? -
Sound settings causing massive slowdown
Lepardi replied to Lepardi's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Of course I have. I can only remove the fps dropping by taking off hardware acceleration from arma. I can immediately see a 30-50 fps improvement straight away when I disable HW acceleration from settings. -
Sound settings causing massive slowdown
Lepardi replied to Lepardi's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well, a friend of mine tested it and he has an X-Fi card, but he experienced no slowdown in game performance. -
Operation Flashpoint 2 officially announced

Im more worried about the 256 limit. That means that each one of those 32 players can only command 8 men which in my opinion is a slight step backwards. I wonder what the total command number is. There's no limits decided yet, not even that 256 AI limit. They were all made up numbers from gamespot. -

Looking good. AMOS would surely be nice. -
Operation Flashpoint 2 officially announced

sweet picture, kind of reminds me of a modern version of RO, which itself would be absolute awesomeness. Modern RO is already out, Insurgency for source. -
this is something i really agree with! Â But not something that BIS agree with

Mapfact releases: AH-64A and CH-47D v1.08
Lepardi replied to raedor's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Tried it and removed. Sounds sucked, and effects look nothing like IRL videos. Even the cannon is 100% accurate, when IRL it has a huge spread. -
Can you separately download the soundmod used in this mod?
-
There is already, look for the 1.31 hotfix from armaholic. E: link: http://www.kyllikki.fi/downloads/FDFsoundpack131_hotfix.rar

Just wondering how to install this mod? There's no @hifi anywhere in the downloaded file.
