FlashFx Units Replacement pack 5.0!
Lucretius replied to Thunderbird's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Athalon and Pentium are different processors. Apparently athatlon is faster than it's Pentium equivilent (like athalon 2 GHZ = Pentium 2.6 GHZ) I'm not too sure tho, you might want to ask someone who knows for sure. Correct me if I'm wrong difficult to explain but it basically comes down to work done. Athlons process more information per clock cycle, so they do not need to run as fast... traditionally athlons are better with games. Raw mhz though is better for encoding and video editing... traditionally pentiums are better here... though AMD has been catching up. The latest AMD 64 bit processors use an on chip memory controller thus eliminating the major bottleneck in the past... the Front side bus... which is often the single biggest cause of slowdown in games. So the athlon 64 bit range is what you want for memory intensive games like flashpoint. It will leave any pentium in the dust. -

An athlon is quicker than a pentium in 3d gaming... I don't know what he is talking about -

this is really very good.... congradulations for all the hard work and effort... it has paid off.... 100% thumbs up My only nag is sometimes I get audio distortion, but i'm not sure if that's a driver problem on my part If possible maybe the reloading animation improved as well -
It was announced by BIS a while back... I think I remember reading about it somewhere. Maybe another Addon pack?

If you want Operation Flashpoint performance... than the Athlon 64 is the best choice of processor due to the built in memory controller. This negates the northbridge... this improving responsivness and overall speed in memory bandwidth intensive games... such as flashpoint

Don't bother with intel... Considering AMD's 64 bit chips knock the stuffing out of anything Intel offer in 32 bit and offer the best future upgrade path. AMD Athlon 64 3200 = Å129.00 http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=304047&cks=PRL EPoX EP-9NPA+ Ultra Mainboard for S939 nForce4 Ultra,4xSATA2,GbLAN,PCI-E,ATX = Å99.50 http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=307396&cks=PRL Gainward GeForce 6600GT = Å144.00 http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=302678&cks=PRL TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 1024MB Dual Pack Kit w/two matched PC3200 DDR DIMMs = Å92.50 http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=118498&cks=PRL Total Cost = Å465 That would be a full system upgrade leaving you with a fairly high end system

I heard rumors of an "intermediate" update to the original game... perhaps along the lines of an engine upgrade or new campaigns etc while we wait for Flashpoint 2 If there any truth in this?

The Shilka... something very fearsome about it
-
not going to make much difference they are still going to fight from inside APC's and aircraft... A terrorist is not even going to get a shot off at a live soldier
-
with what? i hope they aint going down the stupid road of replacing MBT's with LAV's which have 125 mm cannons or plastic tanks plastic and ceramic tanks armed with thermo-chemical guns are the future... lightweight, fast and very deadly

1. FAS.org will give you a good overview of the Abrams. For comparisons, I remember a military site that would compare armies against each other, but it's been a long time since I've seen it. 2. Advantages of turbine: quieter, better acceleration. Disadvantages: high fuel consumption, fuel is much more flammable than diesel. 3. Abrams have proved impervious to all known threats in the frontal 60 degrees of their armor. The sides and rear have shown more vulnerability - an advanced RPG-7 round took out an M-1A1 in Baghdad about a year ago, and two other Abrams were lost to enemy fire in the drive on Baghdad (nobody knows how for sure, except that whatever it was took out 2 M-1s and an M-3 as well - rumor has it that it was a 100mm AT gun firing at their rears) 4. Yes, the Army is planning to replace the M-1 around the year 2020. not all threats... an arial launched AT missile will still take an abram (or any tank) out, regardless of where it hits
