Crap!! After all the trouble I've had with OFPR in the last week and a half, and now I have run into another problem. Â I love OFP more than any game, but this is getting rediculous. Â It's like my computer is determined not to let me play OFPR or something. Things were finally running nice and smoothly without any lockups or CTD's. Â I started to get into the campaign and got to the point where Gastovski shows up. Â Then all of a sudden, my computer cuts the power off in the middle of the cutscene. Everything goes black and silent...What the hell?? I check behind the desk to see if the cat knocked the plug out or something, but I soon see that he's still sleeping by the window. Â Hmmm? Â I turn the computer back on, run scan disk, and everything seems in order so I shrug my shoulders and start OFPR back up again. At the main menu, when I try to click on "campaign" the computer freezes so I re-boot and try again - same thing happens. Â I do it again - computer locks up. Â Again, then again....Locks up everytime I click on "campaign". Â Gaaahhrgh!!! Why me? Why me? *cries like a girl* Someone please help me. My specs: 1.33GHz AMD Athlon, Mobo: FIC AD-11, 512MB PC2100 DDR RAM, MSI Geforce 4 Ti 4200 128MB, SB Audigy-Gamer, Windows XP Home Ed., Maxtor 40GB HD 7200. Â All the latest drivers.

I can't play resistance without it crashing...
Lazarus_Long replied to bigman1585's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
I had the same problem. Â Resistance used to lock up on me after about 5-10 minutes every time. Â It never failed, it was driving me crazy. Â I never had time to finish any of the missions before it would lock up. I tried everything, updated all my drivers (detonators, & 4 in 1), I messed around with my BIOS settings but nothing seemed to help. I finally figured out that there was a weird conflict with my SB Audigy sound card. Â I plucked the card out, cleared out all that crappy Creative software that came with the card, then re-installed the sound card again with only the most basic drivers. The lockups went away. Â I still get an ocasional CTD but nothing that bothers me too much. Â My specs are: Â 1.33GHz AMD Athlon, Mobo: FIC AD-11, 521MB PC2100 DDR RAM, HD: 40GB Maxtor 7200, GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128MB, SB Audigy - Gamer, Windows XP - Home Edition. Good luck. -

The Vietnam War, was a shameful chapter of U.S. history, even I can agree with that. Jane could have used her public influence to promote the anti-war movement in the United States, but that's not what she did. She picked a side, and chose to betray her own country. She was not stupid, she was in her mid 30's at the time and knew exactly what she was doing. Screw her! She's a scum sucking traitor who has yet to pay any consequences for her actions. BTW a few of those caskets you mentioned Warin, were a direct result of Jane Fondas treason. She never cared about dead americans, they were all baby killers to her.
-
Janes actions severely crossed the line of free speech. It was treason plain and simple. When you strongly object to your governments actions, you deal with it from within, you don't go working for your enemy unless you don't plan to come back. It's too late to have her shot for treason but she should at the very least have her citizenship stripped and be forced into exile. Loyalty to your people comes before any disagreements with your government. Jane Fonda IS a traitor, and she should NEVER be forgiven for what she did.

There is one catch with the Swiss Army though. Â You may have to wear a gay looking costume and parade around the Vatican guarding the pope with nothing but a big axe with ribbons tied to it.

Ok what the h*ll is up with all these kddnapings

There are not any more kidnappings going on right now than any other given time in modern U.S. History. For some reason the media is covering it more now than before. It's the trendy news story of the month. I think people are getting bored with the terrorist stuff. -
Swizzerland would be a nice place for me I suppose as long as it was in a non-French speaking part of the country. (I Can't stand French, too much phlem in their throats.) Where was I? Oh yes Swizzerland, Any army who carries cork screws with them as part of their standard equipment are alright in my book, where do I sign up? I love skiing, chocolate, beer, beef, money....Yes Swizzerland defenately sounds like my kind of country. I could finally take those yodelling classes I've always wanted to take.

Words of wisdom: "Wipe thine ass with what is written, and grin like a ninny at what is spoken..." Â Â Â - Principia Discordia News is biased no matter where you get it from. Trying to hear both sides in the belief that you will find the truth somewhere in the middle will never work. Â It's just a matter of choosing sides and picking a story that you want to believe in the most. Â They are probably all wrong anyways. Â The only news you can trust is the one you gather from your own experience...Even that should not be taken too seriously. Chances are that you are a bullshit artist yourself just like every other human being on the planet.

Yes you've got the location wrong. Keep searching the map. ....I'll give you a hint: Kolgujev is in the real world a popular tourist island.....It begins with the letter 'T'....Just focus on the shape of the island and not on the scale. You'll find it. BTW, Everon, and Malden have corresponding Islands too. Nobody has yet to find Nogova though. Some party poopers insist that it is completely fictional, but I still have my eyes open for it. Happy hunting

I got that bug in the original OFP everytime I got in a vehicle with a unit from the Marines addon. I haven't seen it in OFPR yet, but I haven't used any addons for it either. Is the pilot in thet v-80 an addon unit, or is it just a regular in-game character that happens to wear glasses?

Where did you find those 27.50 detonators? Â The link you gave us doesen't have it.

File copy error (crc does not match)
Lazarus_Long replied to Lazarus_Long's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Well, I got a reply from Codemasters this morning and it was actually pretty darn helpful. Â I GOT IT WORKING!! Â Â I'll post the fix here, in case anyone else runs into a similar problem. I don't want anyone to go through the psychological trauma that I had to experience yesterday when I discovered that my much anticipated OFPR would not install. Here's the Codemasters Fix: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">We're still trying to track down a fix for this, we've determined that it isn't the CD although it might be an incompatibility between the copy protection scheme on the CD and the CDROM drive/hard drive or ? Â Until we find a 'fix' the following 'workaround', while not very elegant :-), has worked so far: Create a temporary folder (using My Computer or Explorer, go to File--> New Folder and give it a name, for example "Flash") on your hard drive (make sure you have plenty of free hard drive space! Using Windows Explorer or My Computer copy (Ctrl-A is the shortcut keys for Select All; Ctrl-C for Copy) the entire contents of the CD to that temporary folder (Ctrl-V for Paste). Then rename the file "setup.crc" to "setup.bak" so the installer program can't locate it. Then double-click on "setup.exe" (if you don't see the 'exe' it will have an icon of floppy disks in front of 'setup' from your temporary folder. After the installation is complete, you can delete the temporary folder. Thank you, John Codemasters USA Technical Support <span id='postcolor'> P.S. Avon Lady, perhaps you could add this to your FAQ? -
File copy error (crc does not match)
Lazarus_Long replied to Lazarus_Long's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
I just tried to install Resistance on my second hard drive running Windows 2000 Pro. (I totally disconnected my other one.) Guess what? I got the exact same error message at the exact same point. What the hell, this is impossible!! Is my CD defective? Also, my original version of OFP is the European version, but I bought resistance here in the states. Will this cause any problems? Anyone, please help! I'm freaking out here!! Assmasters... I mean Codemasters, never returned my e-mail yet, it will probably be days before they write me back and tell me something I already know. You guys are my only hope. -
Geforce 4 problems-game messed-please help
Lazarus_Long replied to helmut's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
I just bought an MSI Geforce 4 4200, and it works great with OFP anad any other direct3D game I have. It's not your card, it's something else. check your BIOS settings, make sure it's configured correctly, I noticed that my computer remained more stable if I kept the AGP settings to 2x instead of 4x. -
Sweet, where did you guys find these pictures?

Resistance's north american release date changed
Lazarus_Long replied to theavonlady's topic in NEWS DISCUSSION
Resistance has finally been spotted in Florida! Â Its on the truck and should be on the shelf this afternoon by 1400 according to the guy at Game Stop. Â Woohooo!!! Â Â Â -
i came across the OFP demo by accident last sping (2001) while surfing for new weapons mods for Rouge Spear at combatsim.com. I just got a cable modem, so I figured what the heck, I'm bored, let's see what this is..... Well, the rest is history. I played that demo more than I've played most games that I've bought.

Be fair Albert, I never said I wanted to be a mod, nor did I say that you should be banned. I simply can't stand your lederhosen wearing peanut butter blaspheming anti-american jibber jabber. I thought Germans were supposed to be cool. I've been there several times, and have had nothing but good times there. From my experiences, the German's seem to be more of a fun-loving meat, beer and potatoes kind of people than the snooty cheese nibbling food conosseur that you seem to be. Are you sure youre not French? You should be ashamed of yourself. Calling yourself a German!! Tsk, Tsk....
-
They are pretty cool tunes. I really liked them when I first heard them. Â How's the rest of the CD? I have to admit though, that after over a year of playing OFP, the songs in the game have become somewhat tiresome. It's like hearing a song on the radio over and over again. "Taking it back, taking it back....taking...." Â *sigh* Â /Turns music volume OFF.

Thank you Tex for standing up to that foul smelling cheese eater. Â It's people like that, who give Europeans a bad name. Mods, please close this anti-American shit for a thread, and perhaps think about giving a warning or two to a certain individual in here.
