Personally I miss the old 60's.  I feel the M240B was more of a downgrade than a proper replacement for the M60. Here's my gripe about the M240B: The damn thing is so heavy and unbalanced that the only way to fire it is when you are prone.  Here in Florida where there's high grass everywhere, the 240 is completely useless unless it's in a defensive position where the field of fire has been thouroughly prepared. If we are doing a movement to contact, which is what my unit mainly does, the 240B is nothing but 27 lbs of dead weight.  I could easily bring the M60 up to my shoulder and fire over the grass for short controlled bursts wreaking havok on the OPFORS.  The M60 was an ideal light infantry weapon.  With the 240B I am forced to either hide and let the line squads go without proper supportive fire, or fire blindly into the bush in the approximate direction of the enemy which is just a waste of ammo. With the 60 - Supressive fire? No problem sir! Bangbangbangbang.... /Enemy Dead With the 240B - Supressive fire? Ok, hang on, let me get set up...../minute later/....uh wait, I can't see..... /your platoon is wiped out. The 240B looks great when you're on the firing range.  On a tripod, it's the most accurate MG I have ever fired.  In the field, it's a piece of sh**.

Yup, that was me. This error nearly drove me insane, but the codemasters fix worked. Here's the thread.

Where is that garage with the motorcycle? I ran around everywhere looking for it.

Tovarish, The Bay of pigs....Well, that belongs in the military stupidity thread. Â The way the CIA handled that affair was just plain embarrassing... It doesen't matter, it's irrellevant. How the embargo started doesen't change the way Castro has mishandled his country. Â The United States can NEVER agree to lift the embargo while Castro is still in power, plain and simple. The thing that stops it from being effective is the fact that other countries insist on supporting him thus giving him enough financial strength to hang on to power. You really think that free trade between Cuba and the U.S. would make life better for the Cubans while Castro still controlled the country? This is like saying that life in Pakistan will be great now that we have lifted all our sanctions against that corrupt regime. Â The only difference in cuban standard of life would be that there would be lot more job openings for cabana boys rubbing sun tan lotion on the backs of fat "Yanqui" tourists. Â Most of their salaires would go to serve Castro for his own selfish purposes, thus making life for cubans even WORSE. Castro goes = Embargo goes = Life gets better for cubans! What did you do in Cuba for 9 years by the way? Â I'm just curious.

Communistic collectivism amounts to theft.<span id='postcolor'> Wow, I actually agree with Paratrooper on something. Â This is the whole problem with socialism, weather it is democratic or totalitarian. Â The only people who benefit from communism, are dictators, and lazy people. There is no "utopia" involved in pure marxist communism either. Â What's the point of being a hard worker if your reward is the same as the alcoholic bum who sits at home all day watching sports? And for those of you who are snickering over how hypocritical the USA is by dealing with China and not with Cuba do not seem to remember that we were once at war with Cuba's current leader. Â Our vendetta agaist cuba is not directed against communism, it's with Fidel Castro himself. Castro's track record of human rights are terrifying. Â Lifting the trade emargo agianst cuba would only support his corrupt regime. Â We have nothing against cubans at all. Â In fact there are more cubans here in the U.S. than in Cuba itself. Back in '94, I was fishing out Cuban refugees off the coast of Florida while serving in the US Navy. Â I got to see first hand the fruits of Castro's government. Â I have absolutely no sympathies for that man. Â Any country who trades with cuba and is thus supporting Castro can kiss my a**.

I heard a story about the cask cider "Scrumpy Jacks". Way back some "Scrumpy" employees found that one their barrels tasted extremely good. Better than any of the other barrels. They guessed that it was just a really good batch, but later they discovered the secret ingredient: a rotting dead rat in the bottom of the barrel. Ever since then Scrumpy Jacks is fermented in a barrel with a peiece of rotting meat, for extra flavor. Hey, whatever works. Cheers.

I've got a gripe about the AA launchers. In the "destroy the gunships" mission I had 3 AI soldiers carrying AA launchers. The moment we came across a single BMP, all three AI's launched their AA rockets at it at the same time! I wish they knew to save their rockets for airborne targets only.

First of all, I would like to clearify that this post is not about the OFPR release delays in the USA or any other non-European countries.... BIS has without any doubt made the best game EVER. Â They have continously shown their loyalty and ambition for the game by listening to fans, constantly fixing bugs, creating new improved addons that keeps OFP feeling fresh and new. Â A year after it's release, and it is still the best game I've ever played, and I keep playing it on a regular basis. My question to Codemasters is this: Why the fuck does the entire United States gaming community, with a small exception, have no idea what OFP or OFPR is? Codemasters have been sitting on a gold mine, and yet they have utterly failed to market OFP to the U.S. Â As a result BIS has lost millions of dollars in revenues from potential US gamers. Â Hundereds of thousands of eager US gamers have been denied the experience of playing this masterpiece simply because they have never heard of it. Â It pisses me off to no end. Codemasters are a bunch of incompetent fools who have no business handling a game like OFP. Â THEY HAVE WRONGED BIS, and the entire OFP community!! BIS, you seriously need to think about getting a new publisher. You have an amazing product that just keeps getting better and better, and these suit wearing phoneys at Codemasters do not do your talents justice. Â With a proper publisher who believes in your product you could easily dominate the entire PC gaming world. FIRE CODEMASTERS NOW!! Â

"hunting mutants"....I suppose it would be a nice change of pace for a while. Not your average office drab. I'd miss my high speed internet connection though. Perhaps if only half the earth was inflicted by doomsday it would be better. You could hunt mutants during the summer, then go home and play OFP when you feel like taking a break.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">There! You did it again! (discussion about American vs. sub-human living somewhere else ain't over.)<span id='postcolor'> Good grief! Â Let me clearify a few things. Â Americans are made up from almost every race, culture and religion, so in essense anyone can be an American provided that you are a human and believe in the concept of freedom and co-existence. Â There is no tolerance for the concept of "sub-humans" here anymore. Â (Ok, it took us a while to perfect it, but we are pretty tolerant of everybody now a days.) Look at our military, you won't find a more diverse bunch of people in the whole world. Â It's a misconception that we Americans feel superior to everyone else. Â Many Europeans mistake our big, loud and blunt mannerism for arrogance, but it's far from the truth. We are not that bad, honestly!! Even though I strongly object to anyone being called "sub-human", I do believe that there is such a thing as a "sub-culture". Â Any culture who chooses to opress it's own people in the ruthless manner as displayed by many 3rd world countries are not worthy of my sympathy. Â I'm against trying to impose our own "western" style system on them. The people of these cultures need to figure out for themselves what the best way for them to live. Â It's like a test of nature for a society to shed it's tyrannical roots, some manage to evolve while others fail into oblivion. Â Every society has to go through this. While they try to figure all this out in Afghanistan, our bombs will encourage them not to do anything foolish against themselves or any other cultures, especially ours. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Now, you go there, fuck everything up, and say: "Mission accomplished, SIR!"Leave the country fucked up? <span id='postcolor'> They were f**ed up long before we or anyone else got there. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">It's good to respect older people, but if you respect people who don't respect you, that just makes you a fool.<span id='postcolor'> Ok, fair enough.

Relax, I apologize if I offended anyone by sounding cold and insensitive. I was simply stating a harsh reality about our primary mission in Afghanistan. Â It is NOT some Peace Corps mission. Â It's war. Welcome to reality, it's not very pretty. I never meant to imply that NATO should just pick up and leave Afghanistan in the sorry state that it's in. I completely agree that terrorism is a byproduct of instability and it is in our interest that the standard of living improves in Afghanistan. We can try to convince them untill we are blue in the face that a political system made up of ruthless war-lord tribes is not a good idea. Â The Afghani people will ultimately be the judge of how they want to live and thats the way it should be. Â If they start breeding terrorists against us again in a few years after we leave, we will have to deal with it as it comes. Â I don't think there is anything we can do for them aside from what we are already doing. Â Their future is up to them, that's all I can say. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">What is a monkey bar? <span id='postcolor'> It's a type of exercise equipment... One of the video clips they showed on the news a lot after 9-11 showed some Bin-Laden recruits training in some camp in Afghanistan. Â It showed them excercising on these things. Â I think it was a part of an Al-Qeda recruiting video. Â I was trying to be sarcastic, thats all. Â Allthough we have bombed most Al-Queda camps into smithereens, I doubt we have seriously done anything to help stop terrorism. Â Terrorism to me is a desperate act by a desperate person. Â Anyone can be a tererorist, so this whole war on terrorism thing is quite futile. Â Just as futile as trying to teach a 3rd world country how to live in a civilized manner. That's my opinion anyway.

I bet Duke Nukem would make a good B flick that I wouldn't mind renting. I'd say Dolph Lungren would play a good Duke. It's already got some of the best one-liners ever in it even though it ripped some of them off from Army of Darkness. "No one steals our chicks... And lives!" "Those aliens are going to pay for bustin' up my ride!" "Shake it baby!"

I'd be really ticked off if the world ended before I had a chance to cruise around town in my very own hover car like in the Jetsons or in Back to the Future 2. They promised me dammit...

Oh no, not again! Not another "oooh... Bush is so naughty and stupid....I'm a hippie ooooh" thread. Any doomsday enthusuasts in here?

Look, we didn't go to Afghanistan to liberate an oppressed pople from a corrupt government, we are there to destroy the Al Queda network and to ensure that Afghanistan never becomes a "terrorist haven" again. All this restoring freedom BS is just political crap that makes the bleeding hearts of the UN and EU happy. If the people of Afghanistan wants a free society where their plethora of cultures can flourish in peaceful harmony, they have work for it themselves just like any other society. We are not the ones standing in their way. We are just there to do our job, protecting the United States from "a clear and present danger". I guess it's easier to blame America for the misery in Afghanistan, just like we get blamed for anything else. I don't really care. We said we were sorry for that wedding thing already... They should have realized that it was a bad idea to shoot rounds in the air while NATO warplanes were flying above...

Ah, this explains it! Same problem here... I had to download the completed campaign "Resistance.sqm" file from the Avon Lady Site and revert to the next mission so I could keep on going with the campaign. I could have sworn that I heard some engine sounds from the north, so I figured that the AI must have gotten stuck or something, but I was too bored with the mission at that point to make an effort to find it. Finally the truth emerges.

I just played the rat after trying to dash for the shotgun unsuccessfully a few times. I never thought about running into the shed and grabbing that AK-47. Hmmm... In the following mission I decided to join the resistance. Has anyone tried to cooperate fully with Guba? What happens if you give them the correct coordinates? Do you get booted to the Red Hammer Campaign?

FSPilot, I understand what you are trying to say...You really backed yourself into a corner there! You should choose your words more carefully, especially when Paratrooper and Denoir are around. They will eat you up like hungry wolves! Very ammusing read! It is tiresome to see unqualified, and inexperienced people being elected into high offices. I agree, but remember who elects them... It's the main flaw of Democracy. However, it's one that we have to live with since there is no better options.

Jeez, there's no pleasing you Europeans. Â We (the USA) are either meddling too much in international affairs, or doing too little. Â Make up your minds already. Â What's our choices here? Â 1) Give the UN tons of money: Have the world scorn us for using our wealth to gain international influence for our own selfish gains, and infect the 3rd world with our corrupt western culture. 2) Don't give the UN tons of money: Â Have the world scorn us for hoarding our wealth and directly blame us for all the fucked-up-ness in the 3rd world. Another point i'd like to make is that the UN program in question is about as useless as those "abstinence" classes they gave us in High School. Â Do you really think spending a huge fortune of our money on safe-sex pamphlets and free condoms will do anything to stop the overpopulation of the 3rd world? Â Will it convince the Pope to change the catholic doctrine and let people use birth-control without the fear of going to hell? Â Will the muslims say to their followers that Mohammed was just kidding when he commanded them to go breed like crazy? Â 3rd world countries need to start being more accountable for their own actions. Â If their culture/religion demands that they reproduce like rabbits until they can't freakin feed themselves anymore - well, they need to deal with it. Â What do they really expect us to do about it? Â Let them drag us down with them? This is what's going to happen weather you liberal hippies want to face facts or not: Â The 3rd world will continue to overpopulate themselves into misery. Â History will record it as a grand example of the Malthusian Effect. Â Hopefully the west will learn from this, and start dealing with their own overpopulation issues. Â Oh, and Europe will blame the USA for everything. That's my opinion anyways. BTW The United States is not the only country in the west with a moron for president. Start ragging on your own leaders instead of pissing all over ours.

The Kyro2 works fine with OFP. I had one of those myself for the longest time until I finally upgraded to a GF4. It's not a bad card at all, but the lack of HW T&L forces you to leave out a few goodies here and there, especially in the new Resistance. Try this: 1) Make sure the video card has its own IRQ and is not sharing it with anything else. 2) Make sure you have the lates drivers from the Hercules.com site (Duh) 3) Don't beef up the graphics settings too high, the Kyro2 will crash if you overwhelm it. 4) Make sure all remnants of the old video card is gone. 5) In your BIOS, make sure to set AGP 2x and NOT 4x, your AGP Aperture to 64MB (unless you have more than 512MB RAM), and make sure to disable Fast Write. Good luck
