I never had the opportunity to go out hunting, but I have many friends who seem to enjoy it. Â For you anti-hunters in here, I really don't see what the big deal is. Â As long as it's done responsibly with the proper respect for mother nature I don't have a problem with it. Down here in the Florida panhandle where we have a bit of a redneck overpopulation problem, hunting can get downright dangerous. Â The designated hunting areas get very crowded during deer season and it is not uncommon for hunters to get themselves shot in the cross-fire. Â This is the main reason why I haven't tried hunting yet. I'd love to go bird hunting someday. Â Ducks and Pheasants specifically. Â My old neighbour from way back brought home some pheasants that he shot one weekend and it had to be the most delicious thing I had ever eaten. Â Game ducks are also incredible if they are cooked the right way and served with some orange or rasberry sauce. Â I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Â Bird shooting seems kind of like skeet shooting, which I have done before and enjoyed thouroughly. Â Next time I visit my friend in Minnesota during duck season I'll have to talk him into bringing me with him.

Ignorance is bliss ain't it? <span id='postcolor'> They "saved 500"...They should have saved all of them if they really knew what they were doing. Do you really think this outcome was the best they could do? My KGB comments were intended to point out the ruthless tactics involved in this operation and not to quote some official KGB slogan... If I've offended any ex-KGB guys in here... Oh well!

What a mess! I can't believe some of you are calling this operation a success. Â The ammount of collateral damage is rediculous. Â Granted it could have been worse, but any proffessional anti-terrorist force should have been able to find a much less bloody ending. Â Are they still using old KGB methods or something: "Kill 'em all and let god sort them out"? Â ...Very unprofessional. Note to the Russian anti-terrorist guys (alpha whatever): Â Run some tests on the supposedly non-lethal gas you intend to use before you unleash it on 800 civilians in a cramped theater. It's FUBAR, that's all I can say. Â

Why so man people like to play wwii games anyway?
Lazarus_Long replied to skibei_neko's topic in OFFTOPIC
I can just feel the love for us Americans in here. Is'nt CFS3 is comming out very soon? It should blow the pants off IL2, (Which was a great game by the way).... And of course, most importantly, it is "Made in the good old U.S.A."!! Woo hoo. /goes to the mall to buy games with big American flags on them. ...I just realized that this thread was kind of old. My appologies for the late comments. -
Greetings, I know this forum is crawling with Swedes so I figured i'd ask this question here. Â I have some relatives from Sweden coming to visit me here in Florida soon, and I've bought a Swedish flag that I'm planning to hang up on our flag pole while they are here. Here in the States, folding and storing the flag the proper way is very important and I figure that the same goes for Sweden or any country for that matter. The only thing I've found on the internet is that you're supposed to fold it so that there is no yellow showing, but I have yet to see any examples of exactly how it's done. Â I'd appreciate any information you could give me.
-
Ok, sounds simple enough. Thanks denoir.
-
So you are supposed to roll it then...I see. Do you mean roll it in sections to make a rectangle or do you simply roll it up in a tube shape, like a tent or a sleeping bag?

As a result we can carry out a wide variety of missions in minimal time. <span id='postcolor'> Well...Technically the Marines IS in fact a part of the Navy and not a completely separate branch allthough they shudder at the thought of having to associate themselves with a bunch of squids. Â USMC officially goes under the Departement of the Navy.

I'm having major problems with getting my controls set up. Â When piloting an airplane the throttle seems to work fine: Throttle up on the joystick is throttle up in the game, and throttle down is down... Now when I try to fly a helicopter, the throttle is completely backwards. Â Throttle up on the joystick is throttle down in the game and Throttle down on the joystick is throttle up in the game! WTF Â It's driving me crazy, I can't fly the helicopters like that. Is it the 1.85 patch that changed all this stuff? Â I don't remember having a problem like this before. Â I just went back to playing OFP after a period of playing other games so I'm a little rusty on how I had my controls set up in OFP before. Â I remember that I used to use the keyboard for the throttle controls, but now I can't figure out how to get the keyboard to work as my throttle anymore either. Any OFP pilots out there, please help me. Â BTW, I'm playing Resistance v.1.85 and I have a Microsoft Force Feedback Sidewinder Pro joystick.

Sweet, who is making it?

Very Funny! Very true! Â Â Even though the healthcare bit is completely true I agree with Tovarish that it's BS. Â private healthcare + greedy inurance companies + HMO's = Don't get hurt/sick or youre screwed.

Simultaneously moving an entire vc platoon(60 men)
Lazarus_Long replied to syco's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Unfortunately there is a limit of how many units per side you can have. I think it's 60 or 64 or something if I remember correctly.... Or maybe it's 64 groups? ... Anyways, your mission sounds fun. Good luck. -

For maximum realism with a conventional joystick throttle I have to insist that up on the collective = up the throttle! Â I mean, think about what you guys are saying: "up on the collective = down the throttle" This doesen't make any sense at all. I guess it boils down to personal preference. Â It would be nice if BIS could include an option for this. Like the inverted mouse thing. Â Should be a simple thing to add to the next patch? Â BIS...?
-
Good Lord, you guys are all backwards!! I've been practicing with the reversed throttle now for about an hour, but I just can't seem to get used to it. I've decided to go back to the old keyboard method. Thanks for the replies.

I like the guy who plays Ding in Clear and Present Danger. Â he was just like I immagined him. Â Wasn't he in "Training Day"? Â He played one of the crazy hispanic poker players who were going to kill Ethan Hawke. Â He seemed pretty spunky there. Â It was L.A. too. Â I think he's perfect for the role of Ding Chavez. Antonio Banderas....ugh, what the hell are you thinking. I can hardly imagine Ding Chavez doing one of Antonios famous "I'm too sexy" dialogues. "....but I must"

Denoir, I'm not going to flame you back since it appears that you simply dont know what you are talking about. Â I don't think you are familiar with structure of the U.S. Army nor the scale of operations that we deal with even in simple field excercises. This is how it works in the U.S. Army: The M249 SAW is a Squad Automatic Weapon. Every line squad in a platoon has at least two of them, one for each team. Â (There are usually 3 line squads to a platoon, 10-12 soldiers) There is also a weapons squad, we are the ones that carry the heavy machine guns like the M240B, and also any anti-armor weapons like AT4's, or the Dragon. Â There are two guns for each platoon. Â This is standard throughout the Army no matter what region you are in. When we are given a mission we ALL go. Big guns, little guns, everything. The 240B (me) always stays with the platoon. Â If the platoon is told to go take out a bunker, the 240's go as well, even if the bunker is in a thick jungle where it is impossible to see where you are shooting when you are prone. I guess your idea of proper training is x-ray vision. Oh, and Red Rouge is right we do not pick and choose which weapons to take with us, they are indeed assigned to us. Â You made me laugh when you said that. Â That was good one, not as good as when you said that if I was one of your guys you were going to rip me a ....LOL... If I brought the wrong weapon or something like that.....LOL. Â Yes sir! If you want to learn more on the structure of a U.S. Army infantry platoon you should read FM 7-8, it's our bible as USSoldier11B10 can tell you. Â You should really read it if you insist on being an expert and tell people that they need proper training. Â It would be less embarrassing for you. denoir...... Â Â

He he, very clever. Sounds like something from the show "Connections". Where did you hear this story by the way?
-
</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I couldn't disagree more. You can't blame the lack of proper training on the machine gun. Setting up a propers position should take no time at all for a well trained machine gunner and a loader. <span id='postcolor'> I am very offended by this remark. Â What part of my post gave you the impression that I lack proper training on the M240B? Â Who the hell are you to say what my abilities are? I was simply stating some shortcomings of the M240B that I've noticed from my own experience and then here you come and flame me for it. Â Very childish Denoir, I've been a gunner now for the last three years. Last year me and my assistant gunner took 1st place in the batalion Top Gun competition, Â we managed to dissasemble and re-assemble and do a function check in 50 seconds flat. Â I can set up a full fighting position in my sleep. Â Don't tell me I lack proper training! Â Denoir, with your vast expertise in jungle warfare /sarcasm, you should know that once you go prone, 99% of the time, the brush is too thick for you to see anything. Â It's all about popping up, fire, get back down. Â If you are caught in an ambush, or are attacking an enemy strong point, you don't care about setting up a proper position. Â You want to lay down some supportive fire - Quickly, then move. Â The M240B is way too top heavy to be able to bring it up to your shoulder. Â I don't care if you are Arnold freaking Swartznegger, it's impossible to do this. Â It was not designed to do this. Â It's tough do bring it up even with the 60, but at least it was possible. Â I'm sure you Swedes like it, I don't doubt it at all. Â Of course the only brush you have to put up with are pine trees and a few rocks, so firing from the prone makes perfect sense for you. One thing I do like about the 240 is the fact that it has a dust cover where the brass spews out. Â There's nothing like getting out of a Black Hawk and have the rotor wash get sand all up in your weapon. Â I hated this with the 60. Â As far as cleaning goes, I don't care. Â Sure the 240 has that annoying gas regulator that has to be scraped clean just like the SAW, but it's not too bad. Again: the 240B on the range is great. Â It makes any gunner look good. Â In the field (at least here) it's dead weight.
