    Return of the king

Just got back from seeing it myself. It was of course great, but I found many things lacking that I think were important for the story. And there was a bit to much attention to stuff that wasn't as important. But still, it is a great movie in its own right.

Or when they deny games journalists entry to the US because they don't have the correct visa. "You are free, as long as we approve of all you are doing!"

"Isn't there still a war in Iraq?" Nope. Bush has declared the war is over. And since its been established here that Bush is never wrong, nor lies, the war must be over.

"You have to treat people in a war zone like hostiles, for the sake of your own protection. Whats wrong with using more force than is needed?" Like Denoir said, this is true in war but not in peace-keeping. "Maybe there is a different thought process in Europe,I do not know, but in America we look out for our soldiers, and they come first." Soldiers during peace-keeping are more police than military. And the job of the police, and their duty, is to protect civilians. Often at high risk of their own. American soldiers on peace-keeping missions must put civilians as the first priority, because that is their entire purpose of being there in the first place. Of course they also have to think about their own safety, but they are there to help civilians. Not to rough them up, make life hard or even get them killed.

You do know that US soldiers have fired on unarmed Iraqi demonstraters before, right? Why couldnt it happen again? In this case, I have no clue, I dont know anything about it. But it wouldnt be surprising if it was true.

    Who runs the wars?

Not if the Saudis own parts of the Iraqi oilindustry. Like stated, they can take oil from Iraq and sell it, thus take less from their own oil supply making sure they are sitting on good reserves should the situation in Iraq go sour.

    Who runs the wars?

Actually, you miss the point. This thread is not pointed at the US, but at a privately owned company. As for who really is running the EU, well, atleast its politicians. Albeit corrupt ones

    1. The reason the UN is incompetent is the veto some nations have. A tool the US have used more often than anyone to serve their own agenda. 2. There were not many nations in the UN worth a piss with a negative view on the US before Bush came to power. The US actually used to have the support of most western countries, and many others around the world. Yes you do actually, because you are part of the UN and have signed several treatires and documents. Among them the Geneva convention. But as usual, there are rules on how we should treat US citizens and soldiers, but you are free to treat anyone else what ever way you please. Ever think this might actually be the reason for some people around the world not liking the US?

What is the best mp game???

I have been playing quite a deal of Call of Duty lately. Its good, fast fun when you're in the mood. And FF servers are also quite interesting, all though I am not convinced they have the best FF deterent (if you shoot a friendly, you take the damage. Fine idea, expect it doesnt really prevent people from running into your line of fire).

    What a coinsidence!

Probably had more to do with the movie Red Dawn, than the OFP mission. After all, the objectives were even named Wolverine 1 and 2 (and in the movie, the freedomfighters call themselves Wolverines). All though, in the movie the Wolverines are Americans. Heck, go figure.

http://www.expressen.se/index.jsp?a=89098 Swedish article about how the pictures of the captured Saddam is a breach of the Geneva convention. Before reading this I was actually thinking back to the time when Iraq showed pictures of captured American soldiers, and every American and their dog was outraged about it. Well, now the tables are turned and the US is doing the same thing they found so terrible. Quoted from the article: - The pictures of Saddam during private doctors exams are humiliating. That is a breach of the third Geneva convention, said Ove Bring, professor in human rights. - They could just as well have showed stills of Saddam, or pictures of him walking down a hallway. That would have been equally good as evidence, says Bring. - Americans are a bit unsensitive and uninformed about these things, says Ove Bring. No matter what Ove Bring says or thinks, he raises an interesting point. America can do whatever they want, but god help you if you try the same thing yourself. I wonder what the US would say if someone held their citizens captured on a small island, refusing to make formal charges or even classify the people as prisoners. Anyone willing to bet they would be called terrorists and hunted down?

Will it matter in regards to ending the violence in Iraq? I mean, the "opposition" leaders still have access to Saddam doubles. Right? So, if they use these doubles, and present them to the troops as the real Saddam. Who will they believe? The evil infidel liers or their own eyes?

    French headscarf ban recommended

The simple fact of the matter is that western cultures, like Sweden for example, is slowly destroying itself by changing into something different. It is changing because it is the basic Swedish belief that everyone has a right to their own opinions and life styles. This of course has always been under the assumption that most Swedes adhere to the Swedish culture. With increased immigration, that has been badly intigrated into Swedish society, this has of course led to changes. And now, many Swedes don't recognise Sweden any more, it is not what it used to be. Walking the streets of Malmo today (one of Swedens largest cities), you will see more immigrants than Swedes. Once darkness hits, you will amost only see immigrants, and Swedish youngsters, because most are afraid to go out. This is the complete opposite of what Sweden means to most Swedes. This creates tension, anxiety, fear and problems. It has very little to do with foreign religion, and everything to do with changes in the culture. To some extent, this could be caused by foreign religion, but I dont think so. I think it is directly related to failed integration. You cannot just take people in and expect them to adapt without giving them 100% support. So we mainly have ourselves to blame, and it is up to us to solve it. Its not solved by creating laws against this or that, because that just creates even more problems. It is solved by making sure integration works, that those who move here to become Swedish citizens also become Swedes and not just people in Sweden.

    Who runs the wars?

I dont think he even watched it at all. Most Americans will brush it off, think nothing of it and move on. After all, America can't be doing something wrong. Its America, dang it!

"Are you implying that 1. it cannot be both for the Iraqi's welfare and for the money, or 2. it can't be for the Iraqi's welfare if certain countries are excluded or 3. no matter who does these projects, it's not for the Iraqi's welfare? " I go with option nr 2. Exclusion is rarely a good thing as it limits your options, and makes some people feel, well, excluded.

A US chopper was just shot down in Iraq, near the city of Falluja. Not much info yet, but they said it was hit by grenadefire and then went down. I found the news on a Swedish site, but I reckon there will be more info on it in a bit.

    Is earth defenceless?

Europeans were more technologically advanced than indians, and managed to cross the great ocean without killing themselves. Wanna ask an indian if the Great White Man came in peace? Not really. Slave labor. Food. Hunting for sport. Maybe they need something we have that can't be found in many other places. Maybe they just like to fight. Why would aliens have to think differently than we do? They of course don't. The can be veryy nice guys, or evil bastards.

    Is earth defenceless?

    1. I am pretty sure some civilian will spot an incoming planetkiller before governments do. Thats the way it usually is it seems, civilians have discovered many (most?) of these kinds of things first. 2. Don't rule out alien invasions. Never rule out anything. No matter how unlikely, it can always happen. I don't say we should prepare for it either though, but atleast keep an open mind. Tunnel vision kills.

    Political correctness gone absolute bonkers

Then you should also be aware that I wrote "some". Not "all", or just "Americans". But some. And compared to the rest of the world America has an insane amount of stupid lawsuits. Mainly because.... 1. The judicial system seems to encourage it. 2. More often than not, you can get quite rich of it. And, to make it simple: No, I dont think all Americans are stupid enough to do this. But _some_ of them are, and the rest don't seem to care enough to try and put a stop to it.

LOL Why does this not suprise me? Haha... Thats one thing some Americans are good at coming up with, stupid lawsuits ; )

    The Middle East part 2

So, there are no arabs that would actually want to live in peace with Israel? I doubt all arabs want the destruction of Israel. However, I agree that most probably want the hostilities to end. Creating racist laws does in no way help the peace process though.
