    3dmax conversion

Or if you are a fan of 3Ds MAX instead of O2, make your model in 3Ds MAX, texture it by applying UVW maps and then use the Unwrap UVW to place the parts in a nice square. Then either take a screenshot of your UVWmap in Unwrap UVW or simply use "texporter" (plugin) to render the UVWmap and save it as a image. paint your texture on that one and then apply the texture. Export your model from MAX to O2 by exporting it in element parts (parts connected thru the vertices, not ailerons and fuselage of an aircraft i.e), thats because of the vertex welding when exporting (near vertices are connected and 2 or more become one ). You can use the function "Export Selected" when doing this. Import your 3DS model (parts) one by one into O2, ignore any fault messages conserning the textures. You can define the desired LOD that your soon to be imported model should be when importing, select 1.0 on your first one. Then on the second one import it to another LOD, then select all and press ctrl+x to cut. Select the LOD 1.0 and paste by pressing ctrl+v . Do the same for all of your parts (shouldnt be that many). When your done look in the texture properties window (is that its name?) and hold ctrl at the same time as you double tap with left mouse button on the texture name. O2 selects all the faces that use that texture, right click in a viewport to activate and press E. Press the button far down right, the one that looks like a folder and select your texture. Click apply, ok and then your done. Continiue until you have all the textures visible. Remember to save your model often in case you screw up anything, thats a golden rule in modelling!

A little confused about flight models

You must "place" weights (mass) yourself, you select a couple of vertices, i.e the ones on the tail. Enter a value that represent the tails weight. do like that for the whole model. You can select all of the vertices and enter the weight that the aircraft has, but then you wont get the balanced point right... experiment and Im sure you will succeed, you can apply weight to every vertex.

A little confused about flight models

Yes, exactly. Thats where you can define the weight of your model. Each red square represent a certain amount of mass. Press ctrl+M to bring up the "mass" window, there you can enter the desired mass (kg) of your whole model plus that you can move the Center of mass. The center of mass is the point where your model have equal amount of mass in all directions, normaly its beneath the wing at a certain point at airplanes. Try to enter different values to match your choice.

    How to make glass textures?

Nice to see that you made it The rule is, black = transparent and white = solid colour
  5. Lansen

Can you swap textures with o2?

you can hold ctrl and double click the texturename to select the faces that use that texture. Then press E to get the face properties window, there, press the button that looks like a folder, change the path and click apply, then ok. I think this is the easiest way to change path´s

I really like the missile warning system and the flares good work <span id='postcolor'> Hey Lansen, I just noted your Operation Vietnam logo.  I know it's off topic, but what's going on with Operation Vietnam.  Is it still going on?  Would be nice if you all posted some new screen shots, or it will more then likely be a addon pack for OFP2?  Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD><span id='postcolor'> We will update the site and give you plenty of info, screenshots and goodies when the days have reached the D day  We wont update with anything like new units and screenies now, you will get to know why later. I understand if some people get disappointed and maybe even think we doesnt work on OpV but we do. Back to topic (Tornado), I believe that the Tornado dives to low when attacking a target. The altitude should be able to be maintained when attacking with bombs etc. In real life one method of attacking with bombs is to make a slight dive towards the target, drop bombs and then break away. It looks dangerous to get as close as 15 meters from the target as the AI do in OFPr. (I´m no pilot nor a tactic specialist when it comes to aiplanes, just reading books so tell me when Im wrong). I would like to see the AI make a slight dive from 200m alt to 100m alt, dropping bombs and breaking off, thats if I set the flyinheight to 200... The F15 seems to have even greater problems with this, it seems to fire its AGM 130 missiles when its almost on the ground and almost have flewn by the target. I dont know much at all about config files, havnt had any time to learn since Im a modeller and got my hands full but is this possible to solve? It should be since you have succeeded in making a missile warning system and automatic flare dispencer. Just some constructive critisism Â

    How to make glass textures?

Hi again, sorry its ben so long until I put this up but I dont have the best memory... But its finaly here and thats what count, isnt it. This is a little tutorial that present the basics of how to make a texture with alpha channels for transparent surfaces. The document is in PDF format so if you cant view it, download the free viewer from Abobe.com download page Download the Tutorial

    How to make glass textures?

Hi Offcourse I can write exactly ho I do, its allways nice to help. Right now I´m not at home but when I come home (in a few days) I will write a little "turorial" for you. I use Photoshop 6 for all my painting. I have photoshop 7 but I must say that the only thing that is better in it is when i work with my painting tablet (Wacom intuos2). Photoshop 7 seems to have problems writing alpha layers for tga images. I dont have any experience from Paint Shop pro except that I have seen it once, I would recommend you to get photoshop. Photoshop is quite expensive but you can buy Photoshop LE (sometimes it ships with scanners i.e.), its a "easy" version that doesnt contain very much advanced things, but its still nice to paint with. If there area ny more questions, post them here and I´ll trye to answer.

    How to make glass textures?

When you convert images to ¤.tga format you must use 32bits mode if you use Alpha channels. Make sure you save them as ¤.paa images in Texview, not ¤.pac ¤.pac doesnt use alpha channels for what I know. The alpha channel works like this; Black colour has 0% density and white has 100% density. So if you want to make a slightly black glass you need to make a dark grey alpha channel in a black image. Here is how the alpha layer can look: Here is a link to the ¤.tga file with alpha channel, this one works in OFP. TGA picture of window Edit: Note that the alpha layer only use gray scale.

    Soldier modelling

To change textures in an easy way do this; Open your model and make sure you see the "Texture Library". Hold ctrl and double click with left mouse button on a texturename to select all the faces that use that texture. Now activate a viewport (right click in it i.e.) and press "E" to bring up the face properties window. There press the button far down the right that loks like a folder and select your new texture. Now those faces use the new texture.
  13. I have only tried the F-14 yet but I must say I´m impressed of OFP engine again Its fun to see the sidewinders "spin" away and not just fly in a perfect line, a bit darker and heavyer smoke trail would be nice. Avery cool thing was when I saw TWO F14´s hunt one Hawk (yes, its a bit unfair) in formation! They kept the formation good all the way and the Hawk couldnt do much but to give up. The fun thing was that they flew around for a while and tried to get behind eachother (Hawk and F14´s) the F14´s wasnt even in the same group.

    Operation vietnam

Hi folks. Operation Vietnam is not dead. We are working on it as allways and it will be something you havn´t seen before. This isnt just a mod like many others, I think many of you knew that but anyway. We will update the OpV page when we feel that its necessary, we dont just want to show you a lot of models that we wont release before the actual release. We want to show you our product. Lots of people now thinks that we dont have anything to show because of the lack of updates but I can assure you that we have lot´s of things made and more is to come.
