[SP/CO12] Dynamic Campaign/Mission - The Forgotten Few 2
kingkenny04 replied to KingN's topic in ARMA 3 - USER MISSIONS
Hi KingN, just wanted to ask if you were still looking for American voice actors? I joined the steam group and sent you a request there, but just in case you check this thread more often than steam I figured I'd post here. I speak American English natively and I am a former active duty US Marine. I have access to a professional recording mic so I can get really clean recordings. I can also advise on proper US military radio procedures and terminology. -
Iraqi-Syrian Conflict
kingkenny04 replied to accuracythruvolume's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I could try, but it would be far easier with big photos of the vest and ONLY the vest. A lot of details are hidden by clothing/other gear/weapons in a regular photo of them wearing it. -

Does anyone know the exact model of chest rig that the YPG use? They seem to almost universally use that same vest. I'd like to take a crack at making some YPG units when I have the time. If I could find that exact model of vest, I might be able to model it. -
A new ISIS mod, picking up the ball
kingkenny04 replied to accuracythruvolume's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I played around with some of the items from the General Equipment Addon Release mod by KetsuCorp, which is just single color reskins of stock BI assets, and I think I have something that might make a good baseline for Iraqi Counter Terror Forces (ICTF). What do you guys think? Weapons and attachments are from the RHS Escalation US Forces mod. http://i.imgur.com/yQjLGtJ.jpg (210 kB) http://i.imgur.com/CicLK0N.jpg (216 kB) -

kingkenny04 replied to accuracythruvolume's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Accuracy, if you'll permit me, I'd like to take a crack at doing some unit reskinning for you. I was thinking a lot of the stock BIS assets might be easily used for Iraqi Security Forces or Peshmerga. If it's okay with you, I'd like to poke around and see if I can reskin some BIS parts and mix and match them to make some Iraqi units. -

I actually wasn't aware you could group units like that. You're absolutely right, that's a much more efficient method. -

Hello all! Great work on this mod so far! Been looking forward to seeing assets that cover this conflict, I've had a lot of ideas for missions in this setting and assets covering all factions in the conflict are very welcome! I had a thought on the subject of sides. I think someone suggested earlier in this thread about having multiple pbos for each faction so that they show up in multiple sides. I would heavily argue in favor of this method, both for reasons of realism AND mission-making flexibility. Ultimately it should be on mission and campaign makers themselves to make sure their missions make realistic (or not) sense, and not the mod maker's responsibility to force their hands. Placing the major players on more than one side gives mission makers the flexibility to come up with any scenario possible in the setting of this conflict. As an example, this is what I would propose: BLUFOR: YPG Peshmerga Iraqi Security Forces Iranian Quds Force SAA FSA INDFOR: YPG Peshmerga Iraqi Security Forces Iranian Quds Force SAA FSA Al Nusra IS OPFOR: YPG Peshmerga Iraqi Security Forces Iranian Quds Force SAA FSA Al Nusra IS As one example, say you want to make a mission where you are a Green Beret placed into a YPG unit as a FAC. Let's say on part of the mission, your YPG squad are to link up with a friendly FSA unit, who then lead you to what they THINK are other friendly FSA units. Once you get there, SURPRISE! The other FSA's you thought were friendly have actually allied with Al-Nusra or IS, and begin engaging you! Then, out of nowhere, an SAA armored column shows up and wipes the FSAs out while you and your YPG buddies take cover. Once the shooting stops, the SAA tell you and your buddies to get lost before they decide for you who's side you're on. A scenario like this would require: BLUFOR YPG BLUFOR FSA OPFOR FSA OPFOR IS INDFOR SAA Here's another example: early in the Syrian civil war, you are a YPG unit sent to dislodge Al Nusra forces from a village. While enroute, you pass through SAA checkpoints who you have negotiated with in advance to let you through with no issues. You assault the village, finding it is held by both Al Nusra forces and FSA forces aligned with Al Nusra. During the firefight, local moderate FSA forces arrive to assist you in fighting Al Nusra and the radicalized FSA forces. These friendly FSAs leave as soon as the firefight is over, so as not to tangle with SAA forces in the area. A scenario like this would require: BLUFOR YPG BLUFOR SAA INDFOR FSA OPFOR FSA OPFOR Al Nusra These are just a few example I could come up with. ---------- Post added at 05:26 ---------- Previous post was at 05:16 ---------- Apologies if this has already been posted and I simply missed it, I didn't notice this posted anywhere else. It seems the vast majority of YPG fighters wear this exact same model of chest rig. Does anyone know what model this is, or which manufacturer it comes from? I might take a crack at modeling if I can re-familiarize myself with blender. -
The Iraqi Warfare Mod [Alpha]
kingkenny04 replied to Marve_XT's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Roge-o, I'll look into painting tanks for now. I might add some small details like painted flags or symbols to differentiate between Peshmerga and ISIS tanks in the interest of gameplay, but they'll be subtle. Also I'll look into skinning and coding YPG, PKK, and FSA units once I figure out these tanks. I feel like the different fronts of the conflict are so interconnected now that having those factions would make for some interesting scenario creation (for example, the Iraqi Peshmerga moving to reinforce the YPG in Kobani as we speak). -
The Iraqi Warfare Mod [Alpha]
kingkenny04 replied to Marve_XT's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Heyas! Very excited about this mod, would love to make some scenarios based on this conflict! I've been doing some digging on the heavy vehicles the various sides in the conflict use. It seems that both ISIS and the Peshmerga primarily use the T-55. It also seems that neither of them bother to mark them in any way, other than the occasional flag. Thus it would seem the only thing required to make them work in this mod would be a simple reskin with a desert base layer and changing the crew, and of course the RDS author's permission. If you'd like, I can have a look and see if I can teach myself to reskin for Arma 3. I've done it with other games, never Arma though. I've also noticed in my research that ISIS have a very large number of captured Humvees, so if you'd like I can also try to recrew and reskin a few with the ISIS flag painted on the side. Also curious if you have any plans to add any of the Syrian side of the conflict to this mod, such as the FSA and/or YPG? I believe somebody has already made a Syrian Arab Army mod. Thanks for your hard work! This mod is looking fantastic! -

If you're referring to the USMC LAV 25, it's not the same as the Canuck LAVIII -
Project 82 The Falklands/Malvinas war mod Work In Progress - Pics
kingkenny04 replied to cimalex's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Happened upon this thread via a google search. With the release of the 270 km2 Altis in Arma 3, it occurred to me that it is now possible to create a 100% scale Falkland Islands map in Arma 3. I saw that the author of this project has no interest in working with Arma 3, but I was just curious if anyone else was working on a Falklands map? Quite frankly, I'm a little surprised that no one pounced on it as soon as the size of Altis was revealed. Surely somebody is in the planning stages somewhere? EDIT: Nevermind, I guess I was confused about what "270km2" meant. What a drag. -
RFT DLC utility not working
kingkenny04 replied to kingkenny04's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
No, the normal install does not work (freezes about halfway through). And I'm not using a government computer, I'm using my personal computer. I only use the government computer for internet. We're not allowed to connect our personal computers to the ship's network nor are we allowed to plug any kind of storage devices into gov computers. That's why I had to wait for a portcall to get the patches and redownload the utility. -
RFT DLC utility not working
kingkenny04 replied to kingkenny04's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Okay I just redownloaded the utility (portcall again), same error. The error SPECIFICALLY says: File read error: D:\DLCs\setup.dat I click "OK" and it says: Setup encountered an error Application may not work properly -
Hi, I've got Arma II: CO and RFT, both on DVD. I've updated ARMA 2 to 1.10, and OA to 1.59. I put the RFT DVD in and run the setup utility from the site, and it gives me this error: "Error: Could not read file: (or something like that)" D:/dlc/setup.bat" D: is my dvd drive. I click "OK" and another window pops up saying "Program may not run correctly (or something like that)". Click "OK", then nothing. Not sure what to do, I thought the reason for the utility in the first place was to get around the broken setup process. Currently deployed so I can't download anything onto my personal laptop and can only use the internet on government computers. Only way I was able to get the patches was a recent portcall.
