They have given us wrong minum and recomended specs or they are uselles too. Best way to get more performance will be to change the way how the data is streamed and not for us to buy new hardware because is less expensive to us. Just change sourece code and everything will be fine! How are the minimum and recommended specs wrong? Obviously just because your PC meets them doesn't mean you can max out the settings. My specs are a bit below those of the guy who started the thread and I can play just fine. A little lag when I'm near groups of bushes and looking into them but that's not so bad. Just don't read my posts they also can be very easy overseen because of the wast amount of useles posts. But wait my own are also useles, then nevermind!

Cool useless discussion still going on in here. You can't prove anything here because you have no insight in sourcecode and there is where problems comes from. There is problem in combination of software and hardware only thing you can certainly prove is that there is some connection between software performance and differen hardware configurations. Please BIS check your code and give us please some feedback of current progress of the problem solving or what you think could be the cause of all this confusion!

I agree with you Paco454. But BIS is not alone here, almost all games I bought in recent time were screwed at the begining, but ArmA is far the most buggiest I had till today, sad but I must admit that.

And that is FACT for me too! --- We can set everything to maximum, but then we get the frame drop. Alt+Tab and everything is fine for a moment. This is not because we are running out of video memory or using bad drivers or driving the wrong car or having the wrong color of hair, it's the GAME! Oh wait, Arma maybe can't handle the new shader technologie the 8800 are using? Wake up! In a few days is 2007 and in a few weeks/month the next generation of graphic cards is knocking at the door! I build this damned new PC because my "old" one couldn't handle ArmA for whatever reason. And now my new one can't handle because it's using "~magic thingies~" that ArmA's engine don't like? Don't need punchbag, thank you for your great help that was pretty much useles. You are talking around without use m8, as I know Lee has tried many configurations wit different Cards and clean PCs and nothing worked and is reasonably frustrated I only simpatise with him. I have an 9800XT m8 and it does nothing to do with my post. Thank you for your help

Forget it Lee you can't achive anything here, I allready tried but BIS loverboys and ignorants are only repeating rubbish like a big, juicy mantra. I know you tried everything, more then myself, to get this game running because you were posting also in german official forum like me too, but there is no use of it. Engine is screwed up for many people and there is no clear solution for the problems only a new patch hopefully.

I did not want to express in my post that cedega is bad or illegitime way to run games on linux, only I wanted to say is that if you use cedega you must pay for it. I think it is best available way to run D3D games on linux. Sorry if it sounded different.

Yeah there is, I know about "Cedega" software. There made as I know only working DiretX clone for Linux. But it is not open source and costs periodic fee.

I hope they will do something about the engine I am satiafied with 25-30 FPS overall performance on my Hardware. It is possible as I have it allmost everywhere but near foliage. I consider Arma is more mature then other so called NexGen games and it doesnt concetrate on eye candy, that is for me what made BIS games outstanding and not NexGen, so that I can play the game on low settings without probs.

For me my card is decent one, I don't wanna spend my money on any bargin card around only to play game I allready paid for. I will better wait and see how Arma will develop with all the patches, perhaps in 5 Years after Arma is all patched and has a Ton of Add Ons like OFP than I will consider to buy a new card, I have patience.

I can expect to play it on very low settings, as my card is not below minimum configuration needed. But if not it doesent matter I play chess or somethin else. I am not interested in any nex gen game like splinter cell or whatnot and I don't gonna try it.

I know that he has a valid point concerning my card as also have numerous other people. But it should also possible to play Arma with my card on very low settings near Foliage, I am not expecting to play it with all settings on High. Fact is that the Game has some serious performance problems in the moment, but anything that people can write is "look at you GFX card is not enough" and blah, blah, blah thats also their right to say what they want. Arma is the last game I ever bought and I will not by any new hardware till my recent hardware is so old that I can't work with it properly, untill I can do TEX on it, Open Office and surf the net with Firefox it is enough for me. I will work with XP so long I can because Hardware industry doesnt support anything else besides M$ after that I will switch to Linux. I will not buy any Vi$ta except it will be given to me free of charge. Hey that's your choice, but spare us your bitching about not being able to play. It is time that gaming industry learns not only earns, I have learned enough bro.

I have same problems, if not worse problems, with full german retail version with latest patch. I still hope BIS will manage to optimize the engine untill EU Release.

You can't play it on linux because they used Dirct3D from M$ for the game instead of OpenGL. IDSoftware has clients also for linux for their games because they use openGL for their engines (Quake, Doom3) which I think is better then D3D which is only needed to justify Window$ as a gaming platform and bind us all to M$ somehow.
