So basically UK government is saying that UK citizens are inapt an incompetent parents and the government will protect their children instead. How noble. How about educating the parents/children, did it ever cross their minds?

Try starting Arma in windowed mode.

I'm currently reading "Misquoting Jesus" by Bart D. Ehrman. Pretty interesting.

From walker's post:
Weinstein proposes a geometric unity composed of a 14-dimensional “observerseâ€, that contains our four-dimensional, space-time universe that explains both dark energy and dark matter by adding predicted new particles to the standard model and combines the classical with the quantum descriptions of the universe; a Theory of Everything.
What part of this sentence (some of) you don't understand? It's yet to be tested. It's a hypothesis.
-
Nice one walker again,Here's my opinion : i think that human mankind will never succeed at finding this "Theory of everything" for the simple reason that ,we human beings ,can't study phenomenon that we can't see from outside ...
To find the truth about this universe, you need to be outside of it ^^
That's philosophy, not science. Science is not searching for truth, it tries to explain world around us, and for that it uses scientific theories which describe the world with sufficient accuracy.
Scientists test the accuracy of theories by experimentation. No scientific theory is 100% correct, let alone true. ;)

Well, that's really all we can do right now, hope that Takedown becomes a good tactical shooter. I certainly do. :)

To return briefly to medic system discussion, I don't think that FAK's are a problem, the problem is what they do. FAK is just that, a First Aid kit, it should only prevent bleeding out. After applying it, you shouldn't be able to run around like nothing happened. That's where medic comes in.
-
Yeah, I've read what neokika said. I understand the reasons, but that doesn't make me feel any better. :I
I'd settle for draging/carrying though.
-
I too am dissapointed with medic system. One would think that BI would take Arma 2 medic system and make it better. :(
Will we atleast be able to drag/carry wounded soldiers? I have saved my team mates lives this way many times in Arma 2.

My issues were on XP Pro and Vista 64bit. Same issues, random crashing. Ran with SWAT 4 Gold with the latest patches since I bought it. Switched to the SSF mod, also gives the same issues. I have not tried it on Win 7 though I doubt that will cure it as XP/Vista and various hardware changes have not. :p I come close to reinstalling it every now and then but then I remember the crashing and don't bother with it. I will probably re-install it soon simply for suggestions for Takedown.
I guess this is turning into Swat 4 troubleshooting thread. :o
I finally got it to work. I underclocked my GFX card in EVGAprecisionX by about 5%. Works smoothly. :D I hope it works for you too.
Sorry for OT.

The duet album Rising Sand with Alison Krauss and Robert Plant is one of my favorites. Very different singers, but working nicely together. The album only have cover songs (one is made by Plant&Page), but very good stuff from start to end.To be honest, I haven't listened to that album, because although Alison Krauss is a brilliant singer, I prefer when she's performing something closer to bluegrass. Something like this:
Now this is more my cup of tea :)
-
You can even notice that, unlike many other popular vocal artisit, she actually sometimes sings even somehow better live, than in the studio. Mark of a true gift to me.
Yeah, I know what you mean, those are brilliant singers.
Let's take another lady for example. :)

BTW, her name is not Krause, but Krauss.

...SWAT 4 has been crashing on all my PCs I have ever played it on :(. ...Now that you mentioned it, Swat 4 has been acting up lately on my PC. It freezes, then I get black screen, then it comes back again. I performed a clean boot, and it works better then. I guess one or more services is messing up my Swat 4. :(

As for me, in music essential is rich, harmonious, feisty and somehow rezonating with me melody. Secondary is good performance, especially vocal, rest is tertiary. Melody for the song is like the plot for the novel. Truly fine melody is rare thing, also many great melodies are very old and folk origin (irish/celtic is best for my taste). Here are only small sampe from many of my favorite songs and artists, that I found and collected over the yearsLoreena McKennitt, as soon as I heard that song, I thought she's Irish. I looked her up on Wiki and it turns out she's Canadian of Irish and Scottish descent. Let me tell you, without Celtic music there would be no country music. Just listen to this.
Hard times come again no more (with country legend Emmylou Harris)
I just found this article:

Kurt Russell, kill it!

Looking forward to this and Ground branch, of course.
...SWAT 4 and Raven Shield are just too old ...Blasphemy! :p (I still play them)

I just played through infantry showcase without the dreaded message, which was previously impossible. What I did:
1. I took out GFX card, the fan was full of thick dust, I cleaned that
2. For no particular reason I switched SATA HDD to another controller on MBO, when Win loaded it installed some shit, I don't remember what it was but it clearly wasn't installed
3. I installed EVGA precision and turned up fan speed to 60% so temps don't go over ~60 C (highest was 62 C)
I don't know why it worked, but I hope it stays that way.

Yeah i have display driver has stopped responding and has recovered. And what he told me to do did not work.
Yeah, it's one of those fixes I tried also. BTW, don't do what I did (format HDD) because it didn't work for me, I still get the display driver message. :(

I have recently bought ArmA 3 alpha. Whenever I try to start the game it loads in the ArmA 3 small loading picture, but when it starts my whole screen turns black for a second, then it goes to normal, my internet page turns completely back, then the game doesn't start. Task manager says the games on and working but the game does not work and my computer barely works and goes very slow... What do I do? :confused:Try launching Arma in windowed mode. If it loads you just have to press leftAlt+Enter to go to fullscreen.
I think its just my graphics card. The computer tells me it has stopped responding when i launch it.Is it "display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" message? I had this problem and tried numerous "fixes", but they didn't work.
Unfortunately, it took not only reinstalling Windows, but I formatted intire HDD and made new partitions from scratch. :(
Before you do that though, try what Olee sugested first. ;)
-
I guess he's talking about "Display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered" error. Yeah, I get that too, often.
Here is another thread describing something similar: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147520-ArmA-3-Black-Screen-Display-Drivers-Stopped-Working

It's not good to post at 2 AM, I guess, but I have to say this: And all of a sudden they became muslim fundamentalists, over night. Right. Leave those people alone, for GOD sake.

The one and only: Merle Haggard - "I Wonder What She'll Think About Me Leaving". Beautiful.
One more, for working men.
Oh, I've never posted the one from my signature, "Kern river". Here it is. :o

Also we need some kind of a sound effect for when changing zeroing I think. Those little "clicks" when you dial in elevation/windage into the scope. For audio-feedback's sake
Agreed. Animation would be great too. ;)

Interesting. What's next? Children playing with rocks = report their parents to social services? Because you know, rocks can injure a child.
I don't have a methodology, I'm a civil engineer, not a psychologist. With education I don't mean to say we must educate children not to look at porn, I guess that would only make them more curious.
There must be a way to educate parents though, but it's not accomplished by bombarding them with commercials and soap operas all the time. And yes, knowing how to block inappropriate websites would be a good start.
