    ArmA 2 on 16.10.2008 available?

+1 I actually wouldn't mind if BIS releases ArmA2 in late 2009. (fall/winter). If i understood correctly, ArmA2 is BIS' last FPS game they will release (i remember i've read it in some interview, i hope i've misread it). I wish they take their time and make a game that would be fully playable from the initial release. So, release date doesn't bother me that much, as long as we get a solid product (as SHWiiNG already said). Till then, i will play ArmA and Lords of the realm 2 (great game! ) EDIT: And Ground branch

Built in Revives in ArmA 2!?

We're on the same page here, i see. I just hope our concern about campaign in ArmA2 is not in vain, meaning that there would be a good original campaign worth playing in the first place. Regarding OFP campaigns, i can't wait for CWR mod.

Built in Revives in ArmA 2!?

Variable, now i see why you're worried about "revive", it's about SP original campaign(s)? I'm right there with you mate, although i'm more of a MP player myself (i still like a good SP mission/campaign). But since Maruk said (and you noticed it too) that "revive" will be more like a first aid system, i think we can be fairly certain that it won't ruin the gameplay/realism. OFFTOPIC What worries me more than "revive", concerning gameplay and realism, is IMHO one single most important feature (for infantry combat anyway) ArmA2 should have: Supression I won't elaborate on it, because i'm sure you know what i'm talking about. I know it can be modded in, but i want it in original content by default.

Built in Revives in ArmA 2!?

Lamont, have you read the entire thread? I don't think revive would be instant, rather there would be something (i hope) like guys from ACE mod are implementing for ArmA1, a "medic simulation". EDIT: It seems to me that it's pointless to talk about this feature like we can change something, i think it's too late for suggestions now.

Built in Revives in ArmA 2!?

What if we had two options in action menu when incapacitated: Option 1: Wait for revive (call medic) - you wait for someone/medic to revive you Option 2: No revive - this would mean that you're dead a) SP - load last saved position (if you don't want to use team switch) b) MP - turn into seagull/respawn Just an idea, but I guess something like that would keep everyone happy.

In the video, at 2:49. I wonder, is that a new death animation, or is it from ArmA?

    ArmA 2 Press Coverage

Well the supressive-fire questions is already answered. Its a great feature for very long-lasting fights.. I wonder if at the end all available cores will have 100% utilization, because that could mean quad-core = speed doubled or to use it for much higher range of sight. However i'm very interested how to scale a program over many cores. I'm pleased to hear that about suppression, this way AI won't be Terminator-like creatures that just go forward and lurks for enemy to shoot them down, no matter how many bullets flies over their heads (exaggeration, I know)... As for multiple-core CPUs, i really don't know anything about the technology, let alone how to utilize it in a game, I hope BIS pulls it of... EDIT: Sorry for double post

    ArmA 2 Press Coverage

Almost forgot about this in all this excitement... Yes, Dan, you're right, that's the first thing I've noticed, but I guess (hope) it's just WIP. Although it doesn't bring any real impact on gameplay, i think it should be improved.

    ArmA 2 Press Coverage

There was already a short video circulating way ago showing an early build with AI improved capabilities, and we did not stop with development at that time. The AI definitely will use cover and provide suppressive fire. We intend the new AI behavior to be one of the major new features this game will bring. (It is also one feature that uses heavily dual core - so that the AI can be much smarter and create more complex plans by having more CPU power available to it). 1st: AI will provide suppressive fire, but will it be affected by it? May be a stupid question, but rather important IMO. 2nd: About dual-core CPUs benefiting AI behavior, does that mean single-core computers would be struggling running the game? And what about quad-cores? Just curious, for there's a thread about hardware requirements (I have dual-core comp, guess I will upgrade when the time comes) Anyway, thanks for the information, Suma. EDIT: I guess I was taking too much time writing my post EDIT2: However, mr.g-c's and my questions about quad-cores still stand...question about suppressive fire too...

    ArmA is just ... awesome!

I knew I would love this game even before I tried the demo. I tried the demo and I loved it. I bought the full game (english version) and I love it. You know when in, lets say, Call of duty, you want to flank the enemy but you can't because there's a jeep wrack just in the middle of the small street you need to use in order to get around the enemy? No such thing in ArmA (or OFP). That's why I love it. Edit: Of course, they can flank you too
