    Thanks for the picture. This is caused by OFP engine limitation, no chance to change it. But at larger distance it gets more and more accurate.

Due Community’s request we included a M1A2 variant based on BIS values. Furthermore we added older ammunition types which are less powerfull, for better compability with other tank addons.     Mission making in OFP is a bit more than just recreating real life events, so the 'what kind of modern MBT to oppose the modern M1A2 SEP" is a legitimate question. Best example: RHS T80UM vs. M1A2 SEP M1A2 armed with M829A2 APFSDS and T80UM with BM42M: The Abrams can destroy the T80UM with two hits AND the T80UM can destroy the Abrams with 2 hits. T80UM irscanrange = 4000 M1A2 SEP irscanrange = 3500 But OFP AI can't engage targets further away than 1500 - 1800m. Another point is the faster APFSDS shells of the T80UM. The BM42M is about 200m/s faster than the American shell. Only difference until now is the reloadtime of M1A2. And that's the only thing I'm not gonna change.

    But what is SEP all about? SEP is an enhancement package for the sighting, engagement systems (target finding/acquisition and fire control) and C&C of the M1A2 tank. It's not an extra armour or special ammunition addition. SEP is another system upgrade meant to ensure the Abrams locates and engages its target before being detected by the enemy, as well as broadcasting the acquired information to friendly forces. Therefore, M1A1 and M1A2 SEP aren't much different from eachother in terms of armour and firepower -- both fire same rounds and the last is an armour and systems upgrade from the former. Basically, the evolution of the M1A1 is mostly electronic-systems wide. In this way, I believe King Homer could implement other versions of the M1 Abrams. Not only it's justifiable due to historical contextualisation of missions, mainly from the 85's Cold War Crisis campaign -- as SEP version is very recent --; but also due to the limited amount of operating units in the US forces: there are about 300 of these, about the same amount of fully equiped Vladimir and Bars. Regarding proportions, someone said it would be more realistic to have 5 T-80 facing 4 Abrams, but I actually find such the other way around. Usualy, soviet/russian basic armoured units consist of platoons made of 3 MBT's, sometimes followed by an APC. So, it would be more realistic to have two -- or almost two -- T-80 platoons operating as different groups. Edit: I'm more afraid that developers forget it. The M1A2 SEP also has an improved armor package, which includes third generation steel encased depleted uranium armor. So it's much more different from the M1A1 as you think it is. I'm sorry, we're not allowed to do other Abrams versions, M1A2 only. Please refer to Fischkopps post in the SEP 2.0 thread.

    No one said it's 10 times better than a T80, no one said it's better than Russian tanks. Only YOU Russian tank lovers started a debate about this. I never doubt it Russian technology isn't as effective as European or US technology. It was just you who started to moan about it. I offered a fair deal with older ammunition type, but it seems no one who's talking about the Abrams Super-MBT cares. Sure some Abrams' were disabled in Gulf War, but hey, remember the Iraqis used a lot of Russian tank exports like T54, T55, T62, T72 and plenty of them were destroyed too. You're always pointing out the Western technology only. I'm getting already sick of it. Now please get back to the addon discussion or else I'll ask some mod to close this.     Well at least the Abrams was already in a fight and proved well. The T-90 wasn't. And no, I'm not going to start a new discussion about which tank is better. If you would have read the other 113 posts in this thread, you'd have seen the reason why the Abrams is so powerfull.

    Did you correct the drivers turn out view? No, because there is nothing we can fix. The drivers turn out view works for most people, including Inquisitor and me. I tested it with a clear OFP-install and I don't get the bug, even with 20 other Abrams' on the map (thought it could be a LOD bug) but it works properly. Guess it's a conflict with some other addon.

    Okay the update is almost done. We're just waiting for the new track textures made by M9ACE. After implenting them we'll have some betatesting on a Linux server and if everyhings works correctly it's ready for release.

    As said before: Old M829A2 shell from 1994 is implented and will replace the M829A3 terminator shell. Now it takes at least 2 shots to kill a tank, so the Abrams is now partially balanced with the RHS T80UM. It's still possible to add the newer ammo type via init line or script. The drop error message is fixed now and won't appear anymore.

    Well, I don't care anymore. The Update will include the older and less powerfull ammunition and everything is fine again. I don't want to start a flamewar on ORCS here, this was already too often the case. Thanks for your support guys but now let's get back to the addon.

    I just got to know ORCS released some sort of "Fix" for the Abrams. They we're not allowed to do so, I didn't give my permission to patch any values or change the config. It has a reason why the PBO is decrypted. ORCS is breaking the copyright of this addon. I'm feeling really pissed of because they think they can do what they want. To everyone: If you get to know this link, do not spread it and do not download the thing. It's just illegal what ORCS and flashpoint.ru does.

    Okay I added less powerfull M829A1 and M829A2 ammo types. So I ask you, should I add M829A2 as standard Abrams ammo now or stay with M829A3 (other ammo types will stay the same)?

    Okay here's a fair compromise: For the update I'll add two more APFSDS rounds, M829A1 and M829A2. I'll add two more loadoutscript so everyone can configure the tank wether with M829A1 or M829A2 for his own pleasure.

    You're right everyone can change the config if they don't like the actual one. But remember: Changing values in the config will make the tank incompatible for MP. There's a loadout script for CQB, which will add 16 MPAT shells and 16 APAM shells for anti-infantry use. Besides that you can add the shells manually. The M1A2 can carry a maximum of 42 shells. Thanks for another non-Linux dedicated Server compatible addon! But hey, maybe we can make another thousand impressive screenshots of it.... MfG Lee Gonna fix that. Thanks for the headsup.

    Depends on the range and the speed the target has. Range smaller than 500m or greater than 2250m and the shell won't be activated (script limitation). At large ranges the target could get out of detonation and activation area, best use for the STAFF shell is firing at non-moving targets behind hills, obstacles or houses.

    I don't know what to say, you can't compare FFUR T80UM with the original RHS T80UM. The Abrams won't stand 2 hits from thr original RHS tanks, not even 2 PG7VL hits. I'm sorry, if you don't like it but I'm not gonna change the penetration values. I told you over and over again they're based on the same source and it's said the M829A3 shell has a lot more power than russian BM42M or BM44(M).

    I only can repeat myself over and over again: The penetration value of the APFSDS shells are based on the datasheet for 120mm which you can download on the CAVS homepage. It's from the same datasheet as the RHS values. Try to replay this scenario with 4 T80UM tanks and I guess you're not able to kill them all The good thing is, this error doesn't cause any trouble. It only shows that the tracer for the fired ammunition could't be created because there was no activation time for the whole script. We already fixed that problem and it will be included in the update.

    In the situation described before, the script skips the above code as _bull is already a null object. In this way, _gp and _dir won't be assigned to any values, thus causing the error. Anyway, you may have already found this, so I'm leaving it anyway so that such bugs can be avoided in future addons from other addons makers. That's it. That is what I was talking about, we had so many ideas but we didn't see a way to realize them. And yes you're right, the error occurs when the script has no time to be activated, that happens mostly at close ranges < 40m. If you have any solution how to fix that (remember, I'm no scripter) feel free to tell us, it would help alot. About the high polycount in first LOD: I should have mentioned, that it COULD cause lag and low fps but this MUST NOT happen. My game still runs fine with more than 1 tank on the map. We will convert this addon to ArmA and there such a high polycount will become standard (hopefully). I decreased the armor value to 1150 (old one was 1500), this is equivalent to the armor value of your T80UM. The only difference is the penetration value of the M829A3 ammo. The problem: RHS is using the same value sheet as our tank, so I can't change anything and the tanks are unbalanced in the field of penetration values. About 750 rds/min.
