    JAM3

Sorry, but I disagree. HD mags may not be 100% realistic in that rounds do not come out of your weapon at an angle, but if you take a JAM3 HD rifle, stick it on automatic and fire a long burst at a house that's about 200m away, you'll get a wide (about half a metre or more) grouping. Now, take a stock BIS weapon and fire a long burst into the same house from the same range, and you'll notice that the rounds land a lot closer. Automatic fire from a rifle at that sort of range should not be surgically precise, and with HD mags, it's not. Compare a BIS M60 and a HD JAM3 M60, and you'll notice that the BIS one is basically a deathray. Sure, the thing bucks up and down a little bit, but if you get the first three rounds to hit, the next hundred and ninety-seven will probably hit too. The HD one is more realistic in that it creates a cone of fire. If three soldiers are coming at you from 300m and you fire a few bursts at them, you've got a fair chance of hitting the middle one and there's the possibility that you're going to hit his mates as well. Machine guns are meant to behave like this, that's why they have high rates of fire and are belt-fed. They're there to fill a square metre of air with lead. If they were deadly accurate, they'd just be large-calibre automatic rifles. Looking at it from the "I put my sights on him and fired but I missed" angle, trying to shoot someone for real, someone who could be moving, could be a couple of hundred metres away, could be trying to kill you himself is a difficult task, because chances are you're not going to be able to to lie down, assume the textbook firing position, time your breathing and gently squeeze the trigger. You're going to want to line up as quickly as possible and put as many rounds down on him as possible. This doesn't translate very intuitively into OFP because, with the exception of a tiny bit of wobble (that stops if you keep still), shooting is just a matter of putting the sights on him and clicking a couple of times. You don't have to align the rear sight with the front sight, you don't have to control your breathing, you don't have your hands shaking (hold your hand up to your face and look at it. It's not completely still, is it?). HD mags are just a rough way of taking all these factors and putting them into OFP without having to pore over ever variable in a weapon's config or script them in. They're not 100% realistic, but what else is 100% realistic in OFP? Nothing. Thanks to the JAM3 team, too. I loved JAM2, but JAM3's improved on it tenfold... even I've had to practice with all my favourite JAM'd weapons again to get used to the recoil

    project:: Battle Over Hokkaido

The jets are brilliant. They're great fun to fly, and the AI seems to enjoy making low-level bombing runs against enemy vehicles. Being in a convoy and watching the lead vehicle get blown off the road by a Mk.82 is usually enough to make me dive out of my truck and run for cover.

    Adding weapons to vehicles

The commands for putting gear in vehicles are: this addweaponcargo ["weaponname",1] and this addmagazinecargo ["magazinename",1] Changing the number will put that number of items in the vehicle.

A British WAH-64D would go down a treat with me.

    ECP 1.085 Released!

Just thinking out loud here, so ignore me if you want. The ECP smoke grenades work by creating an invisible barrier that blocks AI line of sight, am I correct? If that's the case, a flashbang could be simulated by creating a lot of view-blockers in a small space, so any AI caught in the blast radius would technically be unable to see. So while they're stood there wondering why everyone's disappeared, you can shoot them in the face. Anyway, don't know if I've already said it, but the new ECP is fantastic. My only gripe is that I don't have nearly enough time to play other games now, because I'm hooked on OFP again

    Everon Defence Force soldiers

Besides, a 9x19mm round from an MP5A4 with Aimpoint optics will kill you just as dead as one from a Sten made in someone's shed in Montignac. The difference being that your Sten didn't cost hundreds and didn't need to be shipped from Germany.

CanadianTerror, is that an AMX-13 or a Steyr SK105 at the bottom? Either way, I think that'd be a pretty awesome AFV for the EDF. In terms of economy, what's to say that Everon isn't an ex-colonial protectorate that recieves the odd bit of funding from the old power to put towards defending themselves? Granted, it'd be more realistic if they were equipped with that nation's cast-offs, but it'd be more fun if they had a hotchpotch of different kit if you ask me.

AKs and T-series tanks are cliched Resistance-side weapons though. I'd rather see some less common stuff, be it European, US, Russian, whatever.

    Melee Weapons?

Some form of melee would be a good addition, be it a bayonet, a knife, or a rifle butt to the face. Running out of rounds sucks, so having something there as a last resort would be great in my opinion. No throwing knives into people's eyes, no doing poncy action-hero throat-slices with a knife bigger than god's mum, no kung fu tiger-stance flying kicks. Just the ability to put up a fight. People are harping on about how unrealistic it is. Well, OFP being OFP, when you fire your last round and end up rushing someone and trying to club him with your rifle, nine times out of ten you're going to die. That one time out of ten you take him down and snatch his weapon, nine times out of ten the guys stood ten metres either side are going to notice and waste you. Seems pretty realistic to me.

My only complaint would be that green and white have been adopted in several addons as Nogova's colours. Other than that, it kicks arse.

    Trigger off EOD´s single

I'm not sure if this is how it works with real explosives, but assuming that the OFP satchels are radio-detonated, what if OFP2 (or whatever it's called)'s satchels can be set to different frequencies? For example, you put one satchel down and set it to frequency A, put two more down and set them to frequency B, then another one set on frequency D. When you send a signal on frequency A , the first satchel goes off. When you send on B, the next two go off, etc. etc. I'm probably talking bollocks though.

Considering that Everon's a pretty small island and that this is their defence force, surely they'd just have normal facilities dotted around the island?

Cool choice. I was considering doing an EDF pack, but didn't get much further than thumbing through AFV recognition guides for vehicles that'd fit.

    Everon Defence Force soldiers

Any chance the officers could be given a set of binoculars and maybe some smoke grenades? Right now, the only difference between an officer and a rifleman is the fact that he's got a Beretta tucked in his kecks.

    ECP 1.085 Released!

I was running around the mountains on Nogova today and to my surprise it started snowing. I ended up just running around looking at it, and some beady-eyed bastard with an SVD shot me in the ear So, uh, thanks ECP

    British SAS Anti Terror Pack

The helmet texture looks a bit "plastic" to me. Can't think of a better way of describing it. Maybe if the lighting was toned down a little bit it'd look better.
