    firing mode bug ?

It doesn't matter whether your trained or not, it's common sense and safety in MY OPINION. In a conflict, if you hurt yourself or your fellow squad mate, you'd be effectively taking out 1-3 of your squad; yourself and one or two others to carry you to safety and get you treated for wound. In AK-47 and variants, for instance, the fire selector is on safe when ever it is on top of the selection group. When you are ready to fire, you flip it to the most bottom selection, enabling semi-auto firing which is the most effective in almost every situation. If need be, you flip it one notch towards the top and you have full-auto. Have you ever tried shooting full-auto fire against a target which is 5 meters away? I have. First 3 hit in the tree trunk, other 7 or so went completely off the target. We were trained to use the full-auto only in confined spaces when most of the rounds can hit the target; for instance, room clearing in buildings. You grenade the room, enter it and fire a burst of fire inside. AK47 fire selector: M4/M16 fire selector: ... and please, do not point out the AK is from airsoft weapon. It's perfect replica in that sense. One more link to MP5 and variants fire selector: MP5 selector The point is, it's not too much of a burden to flip the switch and get back shooting. That's why there should be no reason to use the safety.

    firing mode bug ?

If I would be using binoculars in a real situation, having my assault rifle ready to fire (not on a safe), I would flip the safety back on before swinging my gun to my back and taking out the binoculars. It makes sure that the gun don't fire accidentally hurting me, or my team mates. Now since the safety and fire selection is usually(?) in a same switch, doesn't it make sense that when you switch back to the weapon after the binocs, you flip safety off and usually the first selection is the semiauto in the switch ? So, to me, it is not a bug. I haven't paid any attention to this happening in ArmA though.

    OFP Vs Arma SP Campaign

In OFP, my evening and nights were really, really long! You know the feeling "I just quickly check out the NEXT mission... just FEW more minutes"... In ArmA, I simply DO NOT WANT to play the campaign missions. Especially because of the really annoying bugs here and there. Also the AI seems to be "top-shot"; they just nail you from impossible distances and it seems that player never really can hide. This kills the fun of playing! OFP: 10/10 ArmA: 3.5/10 (sympathy vote, due to great graphics and better engine) I really hope we get a damn good expansion disc... like, uh let's say, uhmmm... Like RESISTANCE !
  4. Is there somekind of problem when commanding a tank with AI gunner? It seems that the gunner is not firing the targets with the main cannon when necessary? For example, you have an armored target and the gunner just seems to use the machine gun against them. Or is there something I do not understand?! I think that I am not supposed to order the gun change manually. At least this is true with helos, I need to order the weapon. (sorry about the double post in Arma General).

505's ArmA Special Edition - What ya want?

After I made some reading, I hope they will not opt for StarForce protection. For any version, that is.

505's ArmA Special Edition - What ya want?

    - Ammo-box is a must - BIG map is a requirement!! - T-shirt is nice and usable, although the size restrictions may apply... All those wrist watches, compasses, etc are probably cheap and completely useless memorabilia. Of course, if they are in I'm not complaining. But mostly I'd vote for some usable high quality stuff, not something useless crap. BIG MAP! I'm gonna frame it with glass on top of the surface so I can use those felt-tip, erasable whiteboard markers during LANs to draw tactical plans...
  10. Hope I will get my copy for next weekend.. Will definitely convert it to English. I wonder if we could arrange a translation project for the mission briefings..?

    Where to buy ??

It seems I have a good shot to place my order of ArmA in the websites mentioned elsewhere .. The thing is, I browsed the BIS personnel on the website, then entered their first names in our company phone book and after a couple of emails, I found a Czech person willing to guide me through the online order process! YEAH! I'm gonna place an order of special edition and normal package... This.. is.. so.. cool!

So who has received their copy?

Without bashing highly respected BIS, I still think that the current situation is a bit bad. There may be a good chance for piracy "just to get the game ASAP". Although, of course the localised versions do tone it down a bit. Anyway all true fans of the game will buy it. I was considering to unofficially celebrate the Finnish store day with pulling up the flag in the pole! But, to give a thumbs up to BIS, it's a good thing that they went their own way and made a game without any compromises. I have a belief that nowadays the publishers like to dictate some stuff that how the game should be and so on. To quote the Heckler & Koch, famous weapons manufacturer; "In a world of compromise, some don't." Any way, congrats to anyone having the game, enjoy it. I'm off to a certain bands gig and even Iron Maiden is hitting Finland next week.. well actually tomorrow, but our tickets are for next week (a bit of off-topic is always welcome!

So who has received their copy?

Yeah, I clearly need to stop browsing the forum... Salt in the wound. Excellent...! Kinda , kinda .

So who has received their copy?

F**k, yes. Having a fight with my wife because I'm in a bad mood. Yes, because of ArmA and the damn uncertainty of it! And yes, there's the guy with the package happy at home.... Sometimes, sometimes I feel like.... TAKING OVER THE WORLD!!1 I really wish that christmas will be here in Finland this year....... Seems not. ps. Congrats for your game! I really mean it!

    ArmA Windows Server

I hope that the dedicated server installation does not require a copy protection check. For instance, my server machine at home does not have a CD/DVD -drive. But this may be easily intervented; just leave the installation process out of the copy protection check. Then I could, for example, install it via a shared drive from another machine.
