    SA80

This is the SA80 in combat: Fire 1 shot Stoppage Forward assist (it's suddenly clogged with dirt, even though you're in a hospital) 1 shot Stoppage F.a. 1 shot Stoppage Cock, hook and lock Ease springs, forward assist Aim, fire 1 shot stoppage Set gas to e 1 shot stoppage cock, ease springs, forward assist 1 shot gun explodes L85A2 has more parts, it works better on the ranges, but combat? Safety off is far too loud. Eagerly awaiting the A3, that's when the AR-15 came of age.

    British army

How can you Brits flame our American allies? Who said the British are soldier gods? I've you've been in the British army you'll know it has many weaknesses too. My unit does STA, in my first month with it I had to shell out Å400 just to get all the basic kit together! Our forces are too small, our gear is outdated and the best stuff we get is American. Christ, at Sandhurst they use the M-16 half the time because the L85A1's too heavy even though it's supposed to physically resemble a carbine. The one bad word I've got for the word is this: sloppiness. America could be ahead of us if its forces bothered to attend to the details, may it be training or operational planning. I mean small details such as wearing sunglasses when dealing with local people on peacekeeping, stuff like that. It's details like this which end up causing a lot of grief.

I need a patriotic show of hands!

Hands off the SA80 rather than up (L85A1 being the correct designation). The first time I ever fired it at Perbright, I had three stoppages and a broken trigger. If at least they could get the dust cover to cover dust, rather than flick itself open as soon as you exhale in its general direction. Did I mention the dirt accumulation... KB
