Ok, just thought I would post this and it's been posted before. I have Windows XP Pro Geforce 4 4600 KT7-RAID Motherboard Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1 When trying to play 3D Games my system would lock up and there was no way out except to hit the power or reset button. Ctrl, Alt, Delete didn't even work. Had to shut down and reboot period... The sound would stick and repeat forever unless I rebooted, keyboard would be locked up and the system was locked up but no drive activity. OK THE CURE: I have the latest drivers for everything mentioned above and 4 and 1 drivers. I went into my bios and for those with an AMD and an ABIT board, I set my bios to the Optimum settings defaults then changed a few things, pretty much enabling everything. The key was to change the AGP Driver Strength setting (Manual instead of Auto) I then changed to EA but when in games, streaks kept shooting across the screen and triangles and blocks kept popping up and it was strange but did not lock at all. I then set the setting to FF which is the highest possible setting and disabled the AGP Write items, I think two of these exist in bios. Keeping the AGP at 64M and Supported. I then in Windows changed everything to the highest possible settings 4xS(Direct 3D only) and for OpenGL set to 8X. When in the game every thing is awesome and flicker free and smooth and no slow downs or lock ups at all. So all I can say is the key is AGP DRIVER STRENGTH for anyone with any AGP, VIA, AMD problem motherboards... Play with different hex settings but FF works awesome for me in all 3D Games... Good Luck.

I have Windows XP Pro Geforce 4 4600 Sound Blaster Live Platinum Abit KT7-RAID this only happens in Resistance. I'll start game sometimes able to play for a short or happens in beginning. The sound will hang and keep repeating and hangs computer, can only shut down computer or reset can't Ctrl, Alt, Del or Alt+Tab, mouse and keyboard are also locked up. Mouse and keyboard are usb and I have the latest drivers for everything, usb filter 1.10, sound, video etc. Every other game I have works fine even OFP. It's only Resistance.

Those with problems with 1.20 to 1.30 patch
Kevin Maximo replied to Kevin Maximo's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Glad to hear it worked. I was only posting what things I did differently. One was updating CloneCD to the latest and the other was ejecting the disk. It probably was the software alone, because I never waited long enough to see if it came up without doing the eject disk trick. It just came up when I did that so I figured I might add that as well for a just in case. I also can't see that many people actually having CloneCD period. I'm glad you rebooted to get that in the system tray if you read my other posts I mentioned that. That's why it didn't work for you the first time, it has to be autostarted down there for it to work. Well your welcome and I hope this helps other people out as well. It's better than not working at all. We are at a 3 for 3 now with this rediculous remedy... -
Those with problems with 1.20 to 1.30 patch
Kevin Maximo replied to Kevin Maximo's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Just another note. Â You have to un-install game, delete the c:\program files\codemasters directory. Â It has to be a legal copy of game. Â A Clean install of game. Â Then try those other items mentioned. Â It may take a couple of times but I purposely used my second computer to test to figure out what exactly might have kick started the d*amn patch to work. Â And if you follow my second reply above it worked twice for me. Â Both computers had the exact same problem. Â Only one of the two computers is VIA though, so why the patch wasn't working on it either is beyond me. Â I know this all sounds like a joke but I was where everyone else was with this thing, I went two weeks several emails, several posts and nothing worked... Â I know the feeling, but soon as I seen that patch screen come up it shocked the crap out of me also. Â But if it works twice for me and I can help one other poor soul out there then it's more than anyone else has done. -
Those with problems with 1.20 to 1.30 patch

Ok I mentioned earlier I have two computers and I had the same problem on my second also. Â The key to this is to have Clone CD running in the system tray, use the latest version though 3.2.2.1. Â You'll see the disk down in the system tray after install and reboot. Â Make sure everything is checked within CloneCD Auto insert, Auto data and audio. Â And I did the exact same thing as my first computer. Â I started the patch zip file then ran the .exe from within the zip. Â Then as soon as my light stopped blinking and I mean right as it stopped blinking and the OFP Mini screen disappeared I ejected my CD and it worked again. Â So two for two for me isn't bad considering a lot of people are unable to get upgraded at all. Â I know every computer is different but twice isn't just coincidence... Â -
Ok, I've tried everything to update from 1.20 - 1.30 anything ever mentioned is incorrect. Â I have DMA on both CDROM and CDRW. Â I have several Burning software programs installed. Â I have everything on my KT7 RAID enabled. Â So with all my b*tching on this forum about upgrading I was about to give up. Â Here is what I did now whether this works or not, it just worked for me. Â I had my disk in the drive started the patch as always and the OFP Screen came up for a few seconds then nothing I kept the zip file open and ejected my disk from the CDROM and wouldn't you know it the install came up and installed up to 1.30. Â If this alone does not work for you the only other thing I had going at the same time was I had installed CloneCD and it was in my taskbar and I did the above mentioned and I was able to upgrade. Â So if the first alone doesn't work try installing a trial of CloneCD reboot have disk in and after the OFP screen disappears, eject your disk. Â I hope this cures everyone because I've been bashing my head for weeks trying to get this installed. Â And the obvious worked for me... Â Good Luck All... Â :biggrin::biggrin:

CM/BIS: Get the hint? WE CAN\'T PATCH TO 1.30
Kevin Maximo replied to Niblitz's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
I've done everything known to man to install this. It will not install, there is no fix, if you haven't noticed. BIS's answers don't work, no one on any boards has worked, if you have the problem I have the only way to fix it is to have those patched files zipped up to copy over the ones needing patched. Or they need a way to get around the d*amn security. That is the only way. I bought two d*amn copies of the game for both of my computers and guess what neither will load 1.30. It's definately a VIA motherboard chipset problem.
