Solution: Mini-UAV for Locating Last Few Enemy Hiding
MeatEtr posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Is it just me or is it extremely annoying trying to find the last few enemy to kill in order to trigger the mission/objective ending? BI studio should give us mini-UAVs for a semi-realistic solution. Much like the Skylark mentioned here. Perhaps a one time use per mission to avoid abusing this asset. Would be lame to have the ability to constantly know the enemy positions. But would be great to have something like this for those last few enemy hiding. It could highlight all enemy(infantry/vehicles) on your map within like 100-200m radius from your location, I know this is not realistic. But at least this would give us a semi-realistic way of IDing enemy locations, without using something more unrealistic like heart beat sensors. The UAV already in-game doesn't really work since you gotta be at the workstation to operate it. Sorry if this has been mentioned already. -
Help with addon folders etc

Not to mention the easy ability to launch the game with no intro and empty game world gets your game loaded much much faster. -
I forgot, but pretty sure it's in the controls listings in the options.

Not sure, I think it's lag/latency issues is why MP hasn't taken off. I've always lagged playing Arma 1 and now with Arma 2(DSL). I think I was on 56k way back when OFP was released, so never played that MP. Pretty much all of my gaming buds had lag issues with OFP/Arma series. It is also why I so rarely play online. It's certainly not because the game is sim-like or too realistic. Realism mods are always popular with other games like BF2(Project Reality)and CoD(forgot name). Also look at Red Orchestra's solid community. There is a definite and size-able crowd out there that love accessible realism or sim games. Bottom line, at least for BI studio, there's plenty of people buying the game. Regardless if only a fraction of those people play online. If it's profitable then we will continue to see these games. Edit: Oh and yeah, that advertising and marketing thing. I'm curious as to how many units they sold of OFPDragon Rising compared to Arma2. I saw tons of commercials for OFPDR and none for Arma2. We all know Arma2 is a vastly superior game too. But I'd be willing to bet OFPDR sold more though.

Yeah I do like the effect, when it works properly, so will leave at low. But the soft graphics problem still happens at that setting. So will just disable it when this problem comes up, but will use low when possible.

Yup, that fixed it alright, thank you very much!

Also, don't overlook the editor, it's very easy to whip something together quickly. I made a tank vs tank mission in like 5-10 mins and a sniper mission in 5 mins. It's kinda like playing in a sandbox. :)

Haha, I did the exact same thing in that scenario. I think the mission maker of that one is Laggy. Was good fun indeed.

LOL ok I got it that way, thanks for the help. :o

I don't have any mods installed at all, so can't be that. Not sure how to call with the radio with the command menu. I checked under communication like I normally do and there is no options there. Am I missing something?
-
Playing a custom scenario and have finished all my objectives and I'm suppose to call extraction by radio. But there is no radio to click on, it's there in my inventory though. But not visible in map view like it normally is. Checked the controls and noticed there's buttons for the watch and compass but no button for radio. Is the radio broken or is the scenario?

Thanks for the replies. I have no mods installed at all, not yet anyway. I checked my resolution and it's already at 100% 1024x768 on my CRT Viewsonic monitor. Is it just me or is this effect(fuzzy or soft graphics) on purpose when your guy is out of breath or been running for awhile? Then after resting(like 10 seconds) his vision returns to normal(sharp and clear). Problem is it sometimes does not return to normal, ever, until rebooting the game. Any other ideas?

It only happens once in awhile, the graphics stay soft or fuzzy like when out of breath. But it doesn't return to normal like it's suppose to. The only way to fix it is to reboot the game, reloading saves don't work. I gotta GF 9800GTX+ on the 195.62 drivers. Other than this annoying problem the game runs pretty good for me, any ideas?
